This robot is working great for our family home so far. It has mapped the main floor perfectly. Each day it runs it gets better and better at getting every inch of the room area. We have used it for 1 week daily and each day I am surprised on how much pet hair and dust it picks up. I would recommend this product for this price range. Worth the money.

Game Changer
We bought this & set it up only a few days ago but so far it’s been a game changer. We had a VERY old Roomba several years ago that was handed down to us and it was okay, but nothing we replaced when the battery finally died. It was probably one of the first generations, but it swept haphazardly and filled easily so would stop until we emptied it. This Shark is obviously much newer with better technology, and we love it! I cant imagine not having one in the future. We have 3 kids, a big dog, an asphalt driveway, and live in the woods so the dust, grit, and dirt is constant. We’ve programmed this to run every other day and our floors are so much cleaner! We LOVE it. We did not have any trouble with mapping like some others did. We read a few reviews on here and turned on every light in the house and picked up toys before it mapped and that worked perfectly. We only had to do it 1 time. The app is helpful to see and set your rooms after mapping. We also have it synced to our Google Home app. I’m amazed at how persistent our little shark is at getting under cabinets and around end tables. We love the matrix feature for our floors. It was pretty impressive to watch it ultimately make the grid pattern. My best advice is just to let it go – don’t move it or reposition it while it’s sweeping. Trust the process and it’ll get smarter each time. You’ll end up with perfect straight lines. Pretty impressive. The battery has good charge for our home. We have it sweeping about 1,600 square feet of our main floor and no need for it to recharge in the middle. It emptied about 2 times, but it goes right back to where it was sweeping afterward like a good little worker. It goes from carpet, to rug, to wood floor seamlessly. It’s quiet and not disruptive. The empty sounds like a bit of a jet, but it’s brief. You do need to have a 3 ft area around the front of your base so it can back itself in and turn around, but it’s not an eye sore. And honestly, this thing is so helpful that I don’t even care. My husband and I watch in amazement. We said it’s like getting a color TV for the first time – we want to have all our friends and family over to watch and share the excitement!

If you have a small space to clean…super! If it doesn’t have different rooms to go to. When it’s vacuuming the right spaces it does a great job. I bought this for my ranch style house. I was so excited. However the room mapping doesn’t work after a bit. It is like a rebellious child…doing it’s own thing. Today for instance; I sent it to clean the family room before company came, but it decided to go instead to the dining room, which didn’t need vacuuming. Then headed back for the dock and said it was done. Other times it will decide instead the whole house needs cleaning but only do half of some rooms and move on. Or if I select the whole house, it will only clean a couple rooms somewhat and be done after a couple recharged. So I find myself more and more often having to pull out the vacuum and do the job myself. Pretty frustrating! I would not choose this particular robot vacuum again as happy as I was with it when we first got it. Sadly, it quickly changed my vote. Glad I waited a few months to review. Note: my sister who lives out of state also has this vacuum. I spoke to her sure when I started having issues, sure I was doing something wrong…she shared she’s looking to replace hers because she has dealt with the same thing. She has multiple ones on each floor; but only one Shark and won’t be getting another. Buyer beware

I’ve been waiting quite some time to buy a robot vacuum. We have a long haired giant dog that sheds quite a bit. Gone are the days vacuuming every other day manually. Phenomenal! Climbs well onto our kitchen floor that’s about an inch above the rest of the house. Recommend!

Disappointing
We have had this for 6 months and have been very disappointed in it. It picks dirt up okay, but it constantly goes into corners and stops. No matter what we do we cannot get it to return to the home base. We have uninstalled everything back to factory settings a couple of times, but nothing has improved. The 10 year old roomba we replaced was more reliable.

This is our third robotic vacuum and our second Shark. We liked our earlier version, but this one is even better. Our house is mostly wood floors with a couple of carpeted rooms. It does a great job on both. Our older unit is being relegated to cleaning the basement.

The media could not be loaded. Vacuum does what it’s supposed to do I’ve had a robot before a different model I got this one has it was cheaper than the one that I had before and it’s loud and rattling like a really bad car is what it sounds like and that doesn’t seem to be normal it’s new so there’s nothing stuck in it when it did the explorer room it was loud and it has not died down and I’m not sure what to do or what’s going on or if I should just send it back

Great first impression… not so great now
I purchased this at the beginning of July. At first it was amazing! Absolutely loved it and it did a great job cleaning. It is now December and I’ve wanted to take a hammer to if the last month. I now have to manually empty it because it throws a code or error each time it goes to empty itself like “dust bin not installed” or “can’t empty debris into dustbin”. I’ve blown all the filters out multiple times. I’ve recalibrate the machine and it still has the same problems!!! It also leaves about an inch of space around everything, walls, furniture, etc that it doesn’t get. Overall I am not satisfied with the machine.

Great customer service
The first robot I received wouldn’t connect to WiFi. We called customer service at Shark (even though we bought it on Amazon) and they immediately overnighted us a new robot. Impeccable customer service experience. Since getting the vacuum we have been very pleased with it. I can schedule it to clean the whole house, certain rooms or spot cleanings. It is also quiet and can be used while I am doing other things. Highly recommend and plan to buy a second one for our downstairs!

Terrible instructions, device a waste
First the model isn’t listed on the phone app. The model on the box is not the model Amazon says I bought, mapping is incomplete, device doesn’t seem to know the area it mapped. Am returning to Amazon. I’ve wasted a LOT of time with this thing. Tried spot cleaning and the device went into the room but kept cleanin g an area about 2×4.

We had this vacuum for 1 month and very pleased with the total performance. Switched from a non mapping Roomba which took about 110 minutes to clean. The Shark which mapps the cleaning area takes approximately 54 minutes to clean the same area. Both brands clean with the same results but the reduced cleaning time is a great benefit.

Terrible with long pet hair
I’ve now used this for 13 months. The first 4 months it ran great – absolutely zero complaints. Then I got a Bernese Mountain Dog. This dog has long hair and sheds nonstop. The Shark gets ‘brush roller stuck’ errors EVERY SINGLE DAY. You need to pull the roller out and untangle all the dog hair to get it running. The real issue is that the hair collects and tightly wraps around the orange connection point between the motor and the brush as this has no level of seal. It fills this entire area until the brush cannot move freely until its all cleaned. This no longer saves me time vs regular vacuuming, it just creates a tripping hazard as it dies all over the place. Effectively useless with a long hair big dog.

This robot vacuum is amazing I bought in Oct of 22′ I loved it. Sadly my girlfriends cat poo’d on the floor and the vacuum ran it over. Can’t get the smell out and don’t have the proper tools to disassemble to clean properly. When it did work, it was outstanding no regrets 10/10

I Love this robot!
This is my first robot vac so I was worried I wouldn’t like it. That feeling disappeared almost instantly. I opted for the vacuum only model. It was on a great sale so I went for it! The wi fi hookup was easy. I let him map then did it again just to be sure it was right. Sent him off to sweep and he goes everywhere! Even under bed and chairs if they aren’t floor level. On a full clean he will go out til the battery is low then recharge and finish up all on his own. You can set cleaning timed or rooms in the app and he’ll sweep while you’re gone. It’s very nice to sit reading or do some other job while he works. No emptying the dirt every cleaning. I love it and a friend just bought one after watching mine. I’ve named him Lurch and we get along fine!

No Drama
This purchase is used for our first floor. We are ordering the same model for our second floor. We have no issues with the floor mapping, have had no issues with the noise because it is a vacuum, and we have had no issues with the simple app. It works. Likely not suitable for cluttered floors.

Disappointing so far
There hasn’t been a single night that this thing has completed a cycle in our home. The first night it got stuck on a rug, it doubled the rug over and then twisted and mended one of its side brushes somehow… So day 1 and I need to replace that brush. Since then it’s gotten stuck every night. The no-go zones are overpowering the go zones so that I’m starting to wonder how helpful this vac will be

Doesn’t listen to the app
The best part of this vacuum is that it empties itself. Other than that, it is not a great vacuum. It says it has no go lines and that you can pick what room to clean, that is not the case. I don’t even think the vacuum listens to app except for when you hit start. I have it set to gentle and it is constantly crashing into things. It doesn’t listen to the no go lines. Sometimes it will clean one room twice and not clean part of another room. There are way better options out there for robot vacuums.

Ok device, few issues.
Does a great job of keeping all areas within its reach clean even as it sweeps particles under furniture too low for it to sweep under. Not a big deal. We move furniture out of the way every once in a while. The reason it’s not getting a five star is because it’s been leaving scuff marks on doors as it swivels to change direction. See pictures. Not at all pleased with this. It mapped the entire ground floor area really well when we first set it up a year ago. It’s suddenly not able to find its way back to the docking unit. My attempt to remap the same area in the last couple of days has only been partially successful. It’s ignoring large sections of the floor area.

we upgraded our shark to this one on a Black Friday deal. this was purely for the self emptying basket. it’s sooo convenient between my hair and the dog har! the white color is nice too, I liked having that option. It does a great job mapping things as well! we are happy we upgraded.

One downside
After using this for a year and the one downside, I can honestly speak to is that every time I change the location for example, in order to put up the Christmas tree I have to run the mapping again by deleting out old map and having the robot remap the house

Fascinating and helpful
12/16/23 Purchased Model AV251WAXUS. Having grown up on The Jetson’s cartoon as a kid in the 60s I can say I’ve been waiting for this… It’s no Rosie the Robot maid but it’s almost as fun to watch. The Good – it mostly does what it says it will. I’m very impressed with the mapping of the house which is 3300sqft. It does a relatively quick job of figuring out the overall layout. The app allowed us to outline and ID individual rooms – we setup 12 rooms. A couple are combined. Rosie (you can name the thing) can be dispatched to clean one or several rooms at a time, or the whole house. We are pretty pleased with the amount of “stuff” we dumped after each run as we ran some initial tests… The Bad: The app says you can add rooms. Since the instructions are very brief and not entirely clear, we understood that to mean we could do the initial mapping for a section of the house and then add rooms later. Not exactly. You need to do the whole house first and then if you want to split (add?) rooms you apparently can later. As a result we had to delete the first map and run a whole new initial map of the house. So instructions should be more clear. You cannot setup two maps, say one for upstairs, one for down, or in our case a sunken living room. To do the living room we have to carry Rosie to the room and manually press clean – since it doesn’t already have the map it trys to outline the room and then cover as best it can. We then set the unit on the main floor and press dock and let it try to find its way home. The Okay: Again, this is no Rosie the Robot but it is useful and I’d say worth it. It gets the lighter stuff that is not wedged or otherwise sticking to carpet or floor. It get’s full and even after evacuating at the dock, it can have a chunck stuck that reduces suction. The “Evacuate and Return” feature is helpful for this. We still have to get the edges with a normal or shop vac and it sometimes will not follow a straight wall the full length – it sometimes moves away from the wall and then back to it skipping some space like it’s avoiding something… Returning to the dock is interesting. After very accurately mapping the house and the furniture/obstacles it makes a left turn into our laundry room before entering room where the dock is. It can take 10 minutes scooting around things before figuring out how get to the door 5 ft away. It always makes it home but it’s an adventure. As someone who likes tech and has some ability to understand the workings, this is very amusing we believe will help us keep the house clean..

This is still a very new gadget in the house so my wife is really just learning to use it. So there is a definite learning curve and discovery going on, so far she loves it. It seems to be doing a surprisingly good job transitioning from wood to tile and carpet flooring with some pretty sharp height changes in between without any problems. She likes the idea of it periodically returning to its base to discharge its load of dust and dog hair etc.

Very Pleased! Works much better than expected.
I can’t compare this robot vacuum to any others because it’s my first. I will say that I didn’t expect it to work as well as it does. We have two rag doll cats that put out an amazing amount of fur. It’s either vacuum all the time or just put up with it between vacuuming. Not any more! Sure, it can’t get everywhere the fur likes to go hide, but surprisingly, it does get most of it. We have wood floors with area rugs. I was afraid it would choke on the thicker area rugs. They’re a pain to do even with a regular vacuum, but it handles them like a champ! It’s so refreshing to see the floors so tidy. I’m embarrassed at what we put up with before. Another nice thing is if I make a mess, such as in the kitchen, I no longer care. I just whip out the phone and order up a room cleaning. Now for the big advice. Spend as much time as needed getting the initial exploration, map, and room creation process as perfect as possible. Move everything you can out of the way so it doesn’t mistake something like a bathroom scale as part of the house geometry. After the first few tries, there were areas it just decided weren’t part of the house because it couldn’t get there when exploring. It simply wouldn’t clean there even if not obstructed! Once I went through the house thoroughly and got everything I could out of the way, it made an excellent map. When you put things back, the map will remain but those things will just be seen as temporary obstacles. Seriously. It’s worth the work. My biggest ask for improvement would be single-room learning. After going to all this trouble getting a good map, I really don’t want to re-learn the whole house if I, say, rearrange the furniture in one room. But for now that’s not an issue. I initially took off a star for these initial shortcomings but have put it back up to five stars. Overall it’s fine. I can’t say for sure, but I think it’s getting smarter. For sure, it hugs the walls really well now, where it wasn’t doing that before. The only downside is I can’t say this thing is saving me any real time yet because I end up following it around the house just to watch. lol!

Still working great. I haven’t always used it so sometimes I’ll put it away for a while because I live in a tiny apartment and it takes up quite a bit of space but I have it out more often than I don’t. They have cheap replacement parts available on Amazon. Even replacement batteries all the way haven’t needed one yet. I do have to clean out from under it but I have hair that is about 3 ft long and it is thick. I also have an Australian Shepherd who has a genetic hair thing that causes him to have like 8 in long “mane” hairs that are really brittle and they fall off a lot. And on top of that I have a must a and on top of that I have a must a and on top of that I have a husky. Believe it or not the husky is the least of this robot’s problems. My hair does get tangled in the brushes like all the time. I can always clean it out super quick though. This prevents me from having two vacuum manually my entire apartment every day. My apartment is 600 ft², but I don’t let it go into the bedroom cuz my bedroom is a mess and it would get stuck on socks and stuff all the time. So it probably cleans about 500 ft² twice before running at a battery everyday. Neither of my dogs mind it, although my husky will sometimes play with it. I don’t think it’s that loud but if you’re trying to have a conversation via phone it might be. It’s definitely not as loud as my dishwasher or my washing machine that’s for darn sure. And it’s got to be a 10th the volume of my upright shark vacuum.

Pleasantly surprised
I bought this because of the reviewer who said this didn’t leave clumps of hair on the floor like her Roomba did. I’ve been a Roomba owner for about 12 years and have had several models. They all left twisted clumps of pet hair on the hard floors. I would always have to go behind it with a dust mop. This Shark does not leave any clumps of hair! It is quieter than the Roomba, it doesn’t bump into things like the Roomba, and it does a better job of cleaning. I’m glad I got it. I’ve run it for 6 days in a row now and have no complaints. I haven’t had to clean any brushes or empty anything. We’ll see how it holds up.

Stopped working after 2 months
It worked pretty well and I was happy with it at first, but then after 2 months, it just stopped working. It still drives around the house but it does not suction. Only driver noise, no suction noise. It quietly drives around.

Arrived filthy and used!
When this arrived it was USED and all the filters were gross and dirty!! (See photos) …. Like it had been wet then dried with dirt caked on. The unit appeared different from the box description too. The brushes etc. were already assembled too?? (customer is supposed to assemble the little spin brushes) … and there was no blue protective film on the unit. I watched a ‘you tube’ video to set up it up and I was very disappointed I was sent a disgusting used one.

If you have multiple dogs, do not buy this product.
We have 3 dogs and I was hoping this was going to be a little extra help to keep the dog hair off of our floors. It worked great the first couple of times and now all we get is the notice that the brush roll is stuck. We clean it out once a week, blowing out the brush roller and the filters and it still gives us this notice. Super disappointed in the product quality. We own a shark stratus vacuum and love it, was hoping this was as good of quality.

Not what it seems
Does a good job mapping probably due to lidar but the brush rolls got stuck with dog hair on every run I tried. Returned it and went with the Roomba j9+. The Roomba doesn’t have lidar but has never got stuck with dog hair.

Defective, but Replacement Ordered and is fine so far
This robot didn’t work right from ‘right out of the box’. Couldn’t get it to communicate to the base correctly ever (if that is how it knows its job). Involved Shark Tech Support, got it to work for one path of exploring its new home. It never would get itself to the base to charge without my having to turning it off and back on and much more. All issues seemed to be in the electronics somehow–it cleaned well if you could get it to work at all. After 4 days, processed return/refund and ordered another one. Now waiting on the refund for the defective one, have rec’d the new one and all seems to be fine. Working exactly the way I would expect after having an older Shark (Costco purchase) that is more than 4 years old, puts up with our golden retriever hair and is doing just fine now in our lower basement level. I am hoping that “Alvin” continues being a good boy, otherwise, he can go back to Vietnam where I hope “Albert” is headed. What a pain to figure out these things! ha

I have two German Shepherd Dogs that shed all the time. This Shark Robot was the best answer to that problem. This is my 2nd Shark Robot. The first one was not “smart”, did a reasonable job, but frequently got stuck, was not systematic in its cleaning, didn’t have enough suction power (once/week I still had to do regular vacuuming), and I was forever cleaning the brush. The new one has no such problems. it is very smart about cleaning all surfaces, including along the edges of rooms, it empties itself nicely once it gets too full and resumes where it left off afterwards, the style of brush no longer gets clogged up. I no longer have to use the regular vacuum to clean all the areas missed.

Lifesaver with 10 cats in the house! Does a great job cleaning multiple surfaces. The only issue I’ve had is that it sometimes gives me a message saying that the bin is not installed, I just take it out and put it back in, then it’s fine.

This mighty machine has been very thorough and impactful in our fight against floor debris. We have two dogs and two young children who love to make a mess but this vacuum has been a great help. FRUSTRATION !
Cannot get it to stay connected to home wi fi even though it is a strong signal. Have been trying to contact someone at Shark for a week now and person 1 tries to help me with the basic shut it off and reboot lesson which never works, and the I am told they will “escalate” my call. 5 days later still no resolution. Customer service is awful. Do not recommend this product.

My right-hand Robot!
This was my early Christmas present from my husband! Actually, we were both tired of hauling out the Shark upright to keep after dog hair. (Our puppy is starting to get her winter fur.) I could vacuum every day, and now I do! I can start Rosie (named her from the Jetson’s!) and she cleans the floor while I go ahead of her and dust. It can spot clean certain areas, like after the dogs are rough-housing in the living room and the fur is flying! I don’t think I can ever live without her! Easy to use, clean, & maintain! I’m going to buy an extra set of brushes & filters so I can just change them out while the old ones dry. Now if I can just get her to do the laundry…

Great little vacuum
Does a great job. I have a Pyrenees who sheds like crazy and this does a great job of picking up his hair on our hardwood and rugs. Our old robot vacuum would leave clumps of hair here and there. No more clumps. Because of all the hair it does not make it 60 days without emptying the base. We are closer to 10-14 days. It’s a lot of hair though.

I love my shark Connery! (Yes thats what i named him) however to have the vacuum follow the layout and avoid the no go zones wifi must be enabled. Being in a rural spot i have to use my phone hotspot to connect which means not being able to set times for the vacuum to clean daily. This is however not a big deal as i can just connect & vacuum when home.

They DON’T sell simple repair parts
Shark customer service just informed me they DON’T sell side brush motors. Told me to buy a new $300 vacuum. Motor started throwing error codes 1 week out of warranty because brush was turning slowly. Not jammed as I disassembled unit completely so just a slightly binding motor. Seems to me programmed obsolescence from the start so having to spend extra time sourcing a similar manufacturer’s motor to get operational.

Well worth the money. I have a black lab that seems like he sheds every 5 minutes lol. Anyhow, it picks up hair no problem and never clogs. It is not as loud as my Roomba. I have had no problems with the shark and it mapped out house perfect first time.

Not worth the price
We bought this when we moved into our new home. It worked well for a while then just 6 months after purchase it started giving us issues, getting lost/stuck in corners of rooms, dying mid room when it was charging all day and finally just broke down and went in nothing but circles. Very disappointed

Best robot vacuum for hardwood floors and dogs
This is our third robot vacuum and has been the best one. Our last two were the other brand and were okay for the price, but would get stuck every day, would get hair and string wound up in the brushes, and I would have to empty the tray at least 4 times a day for it to finish the job and still had furry socks when we’d walk around in the house. With this vacuum we hardly ever have fur on our socks anymore and the hardwood floors look so clean they look mopped! It empties itself, it’s quieter than the other ones and it doesn’t get anything wrapped around the brushes. I do pop out the brushes once a week and take the hair out of the ends of the rollers in the drive but it’s not terrible, I have long curly hair that tends to be on the floor occasionally. The base tank does not fill up that fast, I empty it once a week and it’s not even 1/4 of the way full. We love this vacuum! We call her Rosie ❤️

Good vacuum…but the Map, Matrix and room capacities are totally false. This is just a feature that you can set up in your APP but IT doesn’t work at all. I am considering to return this and keep jut my old iRobot from 5 years ago!! It does the cleaning without any of the BS of High Tech features from shark that don’t work
