Best vacuum I’ve ever had!
This is my third shark vacuum. I am impressed by the suction power of this vacuum. However, it is very difficult to push on my longer carpet. I have adjusted the suction power to the lowest setting and still struggle. It also pushes around object that’s aren’t imbedded into the carpet. It won’t pick up cheerios, Barbie shoes, raisins or items of similar size. Because of that I would not recommend it to anyone with children.

Brushroll did not work
Right out of the box, the brush roll would not turn on. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Shark customer service trying to troubleshoot only to be told that the beater bar apparatus must be broken but is not covered by the warranty and I would have to pay for a replacement. That seemed wholly unreasonable for a brand new, unused vacuum that was defective. I returned it. It’s a shame because I could see the appeal if it worked correctly.

I read all reviews and it is what they said. It is small, but a good value for the price. The canister is small so need to empty it after just one room and sometimes twice. The cord seems shorter than any other vacuum cleaner I have ever had. It is extremely light weight which is nice. Assembly easy. The clips/fasteners are made from plastic, but a MUCH better quality from the Dyson I had previously. The suction is great. I feel like I got what I paid for and am mostly happy with the purchase. It has convinced me Shark is a better product than Dyson. Happy vacuuming.

Super Powerful Vacuum Upright Vacuum With Large Dust Cup Capacity and HEPA Filter
We have owned other Shark vacuums in the past, and have really liked them. This one does not disappoint in performance. It has a very strong vacuum and the vacuum head works will for both carpet and hardwood type floors. The price ($120) was an extremely good price at the time of this review. It was a used one from Amazon Warehouse deals. It was in very good condition and clean. One feature that I really appreciate is the fact that the small pivot vacuum hose is on the outside of the vacuum head, as opposed to running down the middle of the vacuum head, sandwiched by plastic on each side. When the pivot hose wears out (and they all do at some point in time), this one is super easy to replace, though one thing I noticed is it tends to kick off if you bump it on something. Easy fix is to put a thin layer of tape on the hose tube so it is a bit tighter on the tube itself. No big deal, just something to be aware of. Also, because the vacuum head doesn’t have the hose down the middle, it seems as though the head is stronger in the way it is constructed. Our other one of the other type the head actually broke at the pivot joint because the plastic wasn’t as strong. The dust collection bowl is held in place with two latching type mounts on each side of the bowl. Some people don’t like that you have to unlatch two things before removing the bowl, but it keeps it nice and tight for optimum vacuum strength using those latches. It is very easy to empty the dust bowl, but keep in mind, you will have more dust than usual as compared to other vacuums, because this one is very very strong. So empty it out regularly as you see it fill up. Some other minor details to be aware of though. This vacuum does not have any LED lights on the vacuum head, not a deal breaker for us. The vacuum head is not quite as wide as our other one, though this is actually good in our case, because it allows us to get in areas where we could not with the other one. Also, the main on off switch is not on the handle, but is located halfway down on the body of the vacuum, and in a way, this reduces the size of the handle compared to our other one, and the electrical wire does not have to wind its way down the handle hose. The electrical cord is definitely shorter than our other one, and I am thinking of making an extension cord out of vacuum that I am throwing away, to be dedicated for use to this vacuum exclusively. The hose using the handle only is rather on the short side, for reaching up high or on furniture. The vacuum does not come with many fittings, nor a longer hose. But all of those things I knew before I purchased it. Some have mentioned that steps are a bit difficult to do with this vacuum. I was able to do our steps using the whole vacuum sideways and it seemed to work fine. Though I can tell that it might be a bit more difficult for some people. And since it doesn’t come with a smaller brush beater head for carpeted stairs, it is going to take some effort using the whole vacuum itself. But, remember the brush head is not quite as wide on this one, so it actually worked well on our steps. Overall, for the price, this is an excellent vacuum for the power and performance aspect of things.

Does not work on shag carpet or on rugs with rubber backing
I wanted to like this vacuum because of its versatility but I returned it after discovering that the brushes stop when trying to vacuum my shag carpet. It works well on very low profile carpet, medium well on thicker carpet, and not all all on shag carpet. It works fine on bare hardwood floors but gets stuck on any rugs that have rubber backing. My Roomba does a far superior job on all of the surfaces in my home except for occasionally getting stuck on shag carpet. Clearly one could simply say the problem is with shag carpet – and in a sense it is. But it’s what I’ve got, and I like it. I’m not planning on getting new carpet just so a vacuum cleaner has an easier time. I returned this product and will continue my search for something that actually works with what I’ve got. Or maybe just cave and buy a second Roomba for my carpeted levels and deal with it occasionally getting stuck. That is certainly a lot less frustrating than what I went through with this vacuum!

Can’t remove handle attachment
I don’t know if anyone else has this problem, but it’s almost impossible to get the handle attachment out. I have even put my foot on the base to give myself leverage, and I pull as hard as possible, and…nothing. I kind of hate this vacuum. Now I’m onto YouTube to figure out how the heck to make this vacuum work.

I was desperately wanting to replace my current vacuum cleaner. I spent a lot of time reading reviews, comparing to other vacuums’ and talked with co-workers on what they used. The Shark Navigator was consistently at the top, I received my new Shark Navigator and am pleased to say, I am highly impressed. It was easily assembled, instructions are simple and I was able to get it up and running quickly. My 1st use told me everything I needed to know, my old old vacuum did a poor job. This shark picked up EVERYTHING and I could see the nap of my rug being sucked in to my delight as everything that was in it was also being sucked up. The suction was incredible. I am so happy!!!!

Doesn’t work on carpet
This has great suction and works so well on my hard surface floors! The problem is as soon as I try to use it on our rug or carpet it clicks to a red light that it’s clogged. I unwrap the hair and try again only to have the same issue with in a few passes. We have long haired girls in our house and the hair is simply too much for this vacuum. I have tried and tried to find a way to get it to work but it just doesn’t. At this point I cannot return it (I’m within the window but don’t have the box)and so I’m stuck with it. I feel like if this had an option to raise the height just a little maybe this wouldn’t be happening, but I cannot find any way to adjust it. Also worth noting, I tried the same brand with the no hair wrap feature, but it also didn’t work.

Powerful but lacking the best features from the Shark line
I have owned several Shark vacuums. I recently replaced one from the lift-away line with this NV356E Navigator model. Overall, I am disappointed with the vacuum. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: –Very powerful suction –Nice manueverability. –Simple controls. Cons: –Does not have the self-cleaning brushroll. Brushroll gets clogged with hair/string/etc very quickly. The only way to clean it is wedge scissors in there, as there is no way to just pop open the brushroll or remove it. The design of the brushroll makes it particularly difficult to get it clean. –To remove the dust cup, you have to unlatch in two places, rather than the quick one-button push on other models. Much more onerous. –Though it’s an “XL dust cup”, the design makes it so it tends to get blocked with debris at the top long before it reaches the fill line. I’m just vacuuming regular residential carpet with minimal pet hair here, not anything crazy, so that’s frustrating. Emptying the dust cup is always a mess, as the debris is all stuck to the sides and doesn’t tend to fall out nicely without some shaking. –Notably shorter power cord compared with other models. –Lift away function: you can lift the canister off of the brush head as with other models, but you can not use the brushhead with the canister detached. Other models have a powered brushhead where you can lift the canister away and then get under furniture and other tight spaces with the brushhead easily. This only lets you walk away with the canister to use the hose and accessories. I find that much less useful. –Hose is short and very stiff. If you try to use it with the canister attached, you’ll knock over the vacuum pretty quickly. You pretty much have to use the lift away function to do anything with the hose. –Motorized pet hair brush does not work very well. I prefer to use this on stairs, but find it is not providing an effective clean. –No headlights. You really miss these when you’re working in any space that’s not very well lit. –Even on the lowest suction setting, cannot handle high-pile rugs. The brushroll gets choked immediately and deactivates. My other Shark models could always vacuum all of my area rugs on the high pile setting with no problem. –All of the various latches to detach the hose at different places and for the lift-away function are stiff, difficult to unlatch (you have to stop what you’re doing, and kneel down to push the toggle while pulling the part away), and don’t snap back into place very easily either. Often will have to stop and push the hose or whatever in more firmly to get the latch secured, you’re not going to get that satisfying “click” of smoothly rejoining the pieces. All in all, I would not recommend this vacuum. What you gain in suction, you lose in so much functionality. I find it frustrating and annoying to operate, from the short cord to the constantly clogged brushroll, to the messy canister, to the stiff hoses, it’s all just not what I’m used to from Shark. Try a different model.

A lot of suction
I have been using this for 2 months and so far I love it. It is really good for dog hair, we have a beagle mix. There is a lot of suction and I have to adjust it for different carpet types. There is a bare floor setting that works well. But, this is definitely better on carpet.

This is my second shark and I loved by first so. Read the review and it said it had powerful suction. So, I order for the sale price of $106. It is by far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever purchased and even better than my previous Shark. Works great once we figured out how to use it
We had a shark previously that worked great so we went with another one. Assembly was easy and it’s lightweight enough. That being said we had the hardest time getting the vacuum to roll on our carpet. You shouldn’t be putting your whole back into trying to push your vacuum. We had it on the right setting but the brushroller just would not rotate. FINALLY we figured out there is a suction control (grey ring) at the top of the handle that twists. Once we got that twisted for the height of our carpet the vacuum rolled great and has been picking up wonderfully ever since. No backbreaking vacuum pushing needed. Ha.

The vacuum works well. Brushes usually need to be left off for hardwood but work great on the carpet. There range of motion and rotation are fantastic. The lift away portion leaves plenty to be desired. It is chunky. You have to carry around the tank and the arm feels like it has very limited reach. The brushes work great but using it is tough. There is no forgiveness in the attachment to the tank which means that with limited movement things are being knocked over. Overall it a great vacuum for my one bedroom apartment.

Broke after a few months
This vacuum has a pretty small head and a short cord compared to my older Dyson, but it’s suction is pretty great making it really shine on non-carpet floors. However, it the brush has spinning after like 10 uses in a few months. Cleaned brush, made sure belt is on, but there apparently is a common issue with the electric switch internally that tells the brushes when to spin. Avoid this one.

I purchased this vacuum to replace a Shark that has given me many years of service. I read the reviews about the “super suction” but had no idea just how much suction there is. It takes two hands just to push it and while it does pick up a great deal of debris you will not like it if you do not have any upper arm strength. You get quite a workout. Great on bare floors but carpet is a struggle. When using the accessories the vacuum tips over easily and I end up dragging it as I go. It looks nice but works a little to well. Seniors and handicapped individuals may find this vacuum too difficult to use especially on carpet.

Purchased this because I have pets. Have not been able to get a vacuum that can keep up well I found the one.. comes with all the attachments you need. Canister is easy to empty just a push of the button. Very easy to snap together in just minutes. Filters can be easily rinsed with warm water But let them dry before you put back in. They will clog. Big bang for your buck
