    LS460 ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT AIR BLEED

I used the xtool to air bleed my 2010 Lexus ls460 after changing the actuator. I’ve seen many comments on YouTube from people looking for a diagnostic tool that performs this function. I can verify that this one does. After starting on the home screen and choosing ” SPECIAL FUNCTIONS,” and working my way to the ABS system, I received a FUNCTION NOT SUPPORTED ” message. However, by returning to the home screen and choosing “DIAGNOSTICS” and working my way to “SPECIAL FUNCTIONS” then ABS and “AIR BLEED” I was able to complete the function twice. An additional tip: if for some reason, air bleeding fails, you need to return to the screen under DIAGNOSTICS to clear the code before you’ll be able to start again…hope this helps someone.

    Great tool to have!!!

I purchased the tool to reset transmission adapts on my gm 6t70 and worked great I always wanted a scan tool capable of more than just the cheap little code readers also was able to program my spare key I had purchased and cut but didn’t have programed yet. Screen size is good not too big and not too small. The ui is easy to navigate have not got to read any trouble codes yet because I don’t have a check engine light on however after playing around on the xtool I have great expectations for it. Has everything I need. Would recomend this tool for anyone not looking to spend thousands of dollars on a scan tool. Also customer service is top notch I emailed them before the purchase to ask a question about the tool and they were fast and found the information I needed. you could tell they really are there to help you.

Works as advertised, much cheaper than programming keys from locksmith

I bought this scan tool for two main reasons: 1.) Program new keys for my cars 2.) Test my Hybrid battery and other systems on my Toyota Prius I was skeptical at first, but got in contact with the Xtool Support team which assured me that the features I wanted and what I wanted to do was possible on the Xtool D7, and they were not joking. I was able to program an extra set of keys for my 2003 Ford Ranger, and was able to program a Key Fob for my 2005 Toyota Prius. I would also note that if you do plan on programming keys, make sure you match up the part numbers for your specific vehicle, as getting bad keys won’t work, even if the scan tool does. I was also able to test some things on my Toyota Prius Hybrid system, such as the battery cooling fan and do a discharge test for the cells in my Hybrid battery to make sure it was good to go. This scan tool is also able to read computer modules that are invisible to standard OBDII scan tools, and I was able to diagnose issues with a car my neighbor had with this scan tool. This scan tool does cost a yearly fee after the 3 year trial though, it is approximately $99 a year after the 3 year trial, but it is well worth it if you just charge for your service at like $25-$30 to scan someone’s car or like $50 to program their keys, the tool essentially pays for itself after literally programming like 2 keys. For a DIY mechanic that would like the peace of mind of just being able to accurately scan their vehicle and also program keys, I strongly recommend this product. It is a steal of a value at this price.

    Special functions are not ubiquitous.

I have experience with an Xtool IP508, which led me to this D7. I purchased the D7 because I needed to replace a crank sensor and wanted to set the relearn process myself instead of paying the dealership. This D7 look very promising to do that. Problem one – beware, not all special functions that they advertise will work for your vehicle. They have various maturity models for each vehicle type. I tried various approaches within their interface, I tried ignition on as well as running. There was no joy. Problem two-their support is not existent. Good luck getting anything from Amazon, or from the manufacturer in a timely way (72 hours and waiting). Beyond my problems, I will say that it is a quality unit and an upgrade from the older models in terms of interface. Needless to say, I was disappointed and am returning the unit. I’m not happy that they want to take 30 days to refund me… I’m sure that’s on Amazon and not the product, though.

    Great for DIY Mechanic

I purchased this to read transmissions codes on a 2014 Subaru that my $60 code reader was unable to read. From opening the box it took about 5 minutes to power up the device, plug it into the vehicle, and read the codes. Ended up saving about $1,000 replacing a solenoid vs taking it to the dealership. The device itself is a cheap Android tablet, but its very functional. Would recommend.

While the scan tool itself is nice, the quality control is terrible. Received not one but two damaged units. Not damaged from shipping just poor manufacturing. The threads where the OBD2 cable screws into the scan tool were damaged on both units so you could not secure the cable to the scan tool.

IMHO no proper offline mode = major design flaw

The diagnostic tool was not able to connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network during the guided initial setup (the typical hidden network Android option was not there) and the tool HAS to be connected to the internet to initialize. After connecting to a LAN-only broadcasting Wi-Fi access point I managed to get past the connection lock, so I attempted to use the offline/trial-mode, which worked once and then the diagnostic software locked up and kept forcing me to create an account (maybe it’s defective?). During that brief moment while the offline/trial-mode was working I was able to use various active tests on a vehicle and they worked fine without downloading anything from the internet, so the tool does have the potential to work offline, but I believe Xtool is choosing not to allow it. I suspect that after the “3 years of free updates” (if you create an account) this device will lock up and turn into a brick, so get ready to fork out another $350.00 3 years from now (no thanks). This tool is useless for a DIY technician occasionally living/working in a remote location where there is no internet. If Xtool implemented a proper offline mode (no connection or account needed to use the software modules already programmed on the device and the connection/account required only to update the software) then this tool would be awesome. For those looking for a bidirectional diagnostic tool that works offline I believe the Autel MaxiCOM MK808S will work without having to create an account online (based on what I’ve seen in their manual thus far). I believe I’ll be giving Autel’s product a try.

    Can’t go wrong with this.

One of the nicest features of these new generation of scanners is they are basically android tablets that run the diagnostic tool as an app. This features alone makes the unit much more functional then the old traditional scanners. Print, wifi, pdf, file transfers and being able to add additional apps. I was able to plug in my phone endoscope via the USBc port and flawlessly. The unit is very easy to use and is very quick to respond to inputs. It includes quite a few special functions and offer 7 digit DTC codes which i haven’t seen on some other that I have tested. It is very well built, a good size, 3 day battery life and comes with a screen protector already installed. The only thing I would say is missing is a wireless adapter.

Great tool when shopping for a used vehicle

I have used the D7 to help diagnose problems with several vehicles and it has worked well. I have also used the D7 when looking at used vehicles, and it has paid for itself when used in this manner. I avoided buying a used car that had issues diagnosed by the D7, and ended up buying a different used car. I then avoided several used trucks that had issues that would have cost more to fix than the cost of the D7 – ended up finding a used truck with no issues as reported by the D7. Two-way communication was great when diagnosing and fixing an EVAP issue. The D7 also helped me pinpoint which TPMS sensor was bad on another vehicle. I wish I would have bought one sooner.

Wow, words cannot express how impressed I am with this tool and the company. Working in a dealership for nearly 40 years, I haven’t come across a tool that is capable of completing the multitude of tasks it does, especially for the price. I wanted to mention the tool does a wonderful job at viewing live data and programming keys, all tasks that I complete on a daily basis. I also wanted to say the customer service is top tier, as engineers are always looking for ways to improve the product. The representatives I have corresponded with are always willing to help and eager to problem solve. With that being said, I would recommend this tool to anyone who is in the market, but not willing to pay thousands on Snap On. I say with confidence that I would choose this tool any day over the costly ones sold on tool trucks.

ABS bleeding for Honda Odyssey 2013

I had soft brake pedal issue in my 2013 Honda Odyssey after replacing the caliper. I did brake lines flush multiple times but no luck. I was doing some research on ABS bleeding (i.e. apply brakes on gravel or wet surface to engage abs) and came across a YouTube video for abs bleeding and they recommended xtool d7. So I decided to buy this tool and it worked like charm. It saved me lot of time and money. Also I was able to program keys for 2009 Toyota Camry. It was little confusing as old videos shows a special function name “Key Programming” which is not there in latest tool. You need to find “IMMO Set” special function and it has option for “Add Keys”. For 2009 camry I had to program key and remote separately but it took 10 minutes for 2 keys. I am very happy with this purchase.

    Great entry level bidirectional scanner!

I was looking for an inexpensive bidirectional scan tool that would allow a very advanced DIY mechanic the ability to perform repairs and troubleshooting typically only available to those with dealer software. I work exclusively on Toyotas and found the tool to work great and have advanced functions such as ABS Linear Offset Recalibration. I tried the tool on my 2002 Porsche Turbo knowing it is extremely finicky with OBD2 scan software and it did not give the functionality for the other specialty software that I have specifically for this car. The Porsche was a long shot but I was still overall satisfied with the functionality vs price point. Bottomline make sure your car is supported. Technical support and response time for assistance was also much better than expected.

Deceptive about updates no customer loyalty

It’s a decent tool not the greatest battery life not that it needs it it’s wired not wireless so it gets charged from the vehicle as long as the subscriptions up you get random updates for diagnostic issue fixes however part of the marketing for this the special functions says 36 + and I believe in the literature even says more to come so when the new UI was released as well as the new functions or functionality rather on the exact same hardware that was excited it looked really nice I couldn’t wait to try it but no update came. I contacted Xtool through The email that is provided under the support option on the tool as well as through the vendor from which I bought it from here. I don’t believe that I received a reply to the email or emails rather they give you two email addresses neither of which responded The vendor however on Amazon responded. To my initial query on when the scan tools that’s had the old UI we’re going to get updates the vendor stated that the two UIs were incompatible and that because there was the old UI on it the new UI would not work however in the product literature it states that if you receive a unit that has the old UI to contact the vendor to get that rectified. When I responded mentioning this to the vendor their response was “0h okay can I have your purchase order number and the serial number of the unit”. I I provided both numbers getting them off of my order and the response that I got was that I purchased my scanner on this date and that scanners only purchased after September or October say will receive the new UI so it’s all the same hardware they’re just not rolling the new UI out to those whoever ready invested their money they’re using it as an incentive to try and drive sales which more power to you but there’s no reason given that it is exactly the same hardware that you leave the people that have invested behind and forgotten and then lied to when asked and then one confronted with their own words told that oh sorry you gave us your money but you didn’t do it soon enough so you won’t get the updates that we promised you when we marketed this product to you and that’s deceitful. This tool I will use it because I paid for it until I get another one but I don’t think I’d ever go with this company again not that I really matters I’m sure they have plenty of sales and one person’s gripe is nothing but of customer loyalty in a company is something that matters to you hopefully this helps I wouldn’t recommend it.

The Xtool D7 is an excellent mid-level diagnostic tool with an affordable appetite for update costs.

The Xtool D7 is a very powerful and comprehensive diagnostic tool with an 8 PID count for Live Data, with the option of a normal list of graphs or a 2D overlay of all 8 PIDs that allows the filtering out of non relevant PIDs to be able to focus on the freeze frame action of specific PIDs as they interact with the other selected ones. There is also a grip on the slidebar so I can jump to the frame of interest. I prefer the real-time response from the 16 pin VGA style cable. Although the cable can be difficult to manage at times, the the 9′ extentiom cable allows me to watch the screen while under the hood. The buffering lag from Bluetooth devices leave me waiting that half second of response time to see the results of my action. With the functions of this mid-level tool, I can pinpoint the the cause of any or all of the components that are out of balance as well as why they are out of balance and by how far. Cleaning or replacing those components can then be verified, compared and recorded for several reasons, such as to check my work or provide a printout of the diagnostic path taken to resolve the issue and bring the system back into balance. At that point, I have spent a small amount money on parts and invested a moderate amount of money on tools, but the abillity to know which circuit could be causing an imbalance of my vehicle is of much more value then paying someone else to fix it for me, and still only wonder wich components or connectors might fail next. If the need for programming should arise, then I will know why, as well as how to minimize or prevent the need for future programming from here on. When every vehicle I’ve ever owned has been pre-owned or built from scrap, lol, and now most vehicles on the road are dependent on transisters to maintain a near perfect balance of the smooth function of that vehicle, then learning the language of electronic control of energy through digital communication becomes a valuable skill that can save the avarage novice a bundle of money on diagnostic and repair costs. The D7 has been a game changer for me, to have the knowledge of the function of my vehicles and maintain that balance for a reasonable investment of studying and observing the components involved and know the costly “what as well as why” answer to most any reason for that light to let me know that an issue IS present. A monthly diagnostic is less painful then a trip to the dentist. The customer service team is very dedicated and responded the very next day. They really do care that have I have purchased the device that will provide me with the level of diagnostic interaction that I am needing to assist me in keeping all of my vehicles in as near perfect balance as financially possible. I know from experience with a Launch X431 pad that I tried to use, that the process to success is to beg the development team for support that may never arrive. This is not the case with Xtool. They are very engaged, as well as knowledgeable to the needs of the customer.

My D7 Limited review from a partly shade tree mechanic… Purchased June of 2024. A little back ground. The SL2 does not have ABS. My basic need was for actuation test, some special features and real time monitoring. Actuation testing when well. The D7 was able to access ever thing indicated in their support list. Light up the instrument lights/swing needle on gauges, turn on the smog air pump, turn on the fuel pump, adjust the IAC PWM, click transmission solenoids, purge valve, …. an extensive list. The D7 came up short on two advertised special functions, Cylinder power balance and Crankshaft pos. variation learn. The D7 indicated “not yet implemented”. I guess there is some hope. Compared to the $150 Tech2 clones that don’t work. An easy win for the D7. Compared to an used Tech2 that sell for over $1000 on ebay the D7 comes up a little sort. Choices I may going with the least expensive model from Xtool. I find the D7 to be a play. Worked well with a 2012 Sonic LS. The screen is a little small and the internal 32GB is a little little light. For my needs, a good tool box companion. I leave it on/connected to my wi-fi 24/7. It updates frequently. I’ve seen many updates for 2024 model year vehicles. I’m hoping this is a good sign.

It comes in a box, then a sturdy carrying case, and everything stays well insulated within that case.
