The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The product in question, presumably a robotic vacuum cleaner, seems to have certain qualities that a number of users have found to be beneficial. Customers like Maggie and Ken who gave the product a five-star rating have praised it for making life significantly easier, especially for pet owners dealing with dog hair. The vacuum’s ability to operate autonomously and return to its charging dock without human intervention has been highlighted as a convenient feature, providing a hands-free cleaning experience. Another user, Stef, commended the vacuum for its excellent battery life and the ability to be controlled via a smartphone app, adding to the convenience factor. The user who compared the product to an iLife model mentioned that this vacuum is a substantial improvement, picking up more debris and offering a longer battery life.
However, a substantial number of users have experienced several issues with the product, which is reflected in the overall negative sentiment found in the reviews. One of the primary concerns, as pointed out by users like Marshall P. and Sal K., is the lack of an efficient cleaning pattern. The vacuum is reported to move around with “no methodology at all”, bouncing around and often missing spots. This randomness in its cleaning path leads to unsatisfactory coverage and can result in frustration for users expecting a systematic cleaning approach.
Another significant issue mentioned by users, such as Allison M. and Sierra Froman, is the inability to connect to Wi-Fi or the associated app. This is particularly problematic as the app is advertised to offer features like mapping and scheduling, which are important for a modern robotic vacuum. Customers have found themselves unable to utilize these functions due to connectivity problems, with one user, Nancy, deeming the product a “waste of time and money” due to its poor charge holding capacity.
The vacuum’s physical interaction with the environment has also been criticized. It’s reported to hit obstacles with force, as stated by Del, and potentially leave marks on furniture. This is a concern for those who wish to maintain the condition of their home decor. Additionally, the device’s suction power, although deemed decent by some, has been labeled subpar by others like Erica, who received a model different from what was advertised and found it lacking in performance. Noise levels have also been a point of contention, with users like Guadalupe D. finding the vacuum loud enough to be disturbing when at home.
In terms of customer support, there seems to be a notable lack of responsive and helpful service, as highlighted by users attempting to troubleshoot their issues with no success. This adds to the overall disappointment with the product, with some customers expressing regret over their purchase and a desire for a refund.
In conclusion, while the robotic vacuum cleaner does offer the convenience of automated cleaning and has been found to be beneficial by some users, a considerable number of reviewers have encountered significant issues. These range from ineffective cleaning patterns and poor connectivity to inadequate customer support. Prospective buyers should weigh these considerations carefully before making a purchase decision.
What do the stars speak of?
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
We have three dogs and this makes my life so much easier.
Vacuums well. Instantly picked up loads of cat hair. It cannot find the dock…..ever. in between use had to add the robot and resync it each time. I’m running out of silly names to call it. It is supposed to be easy. It does not operate well since It cannot ever dock and It never responds to app unless deleted and re-added. This was the inexpensive model get what you pay for.

Q&A Corner: Shedding Light on Your Questions
1. Can the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 be used on all types of carpet, and how effective is it on high-pile carpets? The Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 is designed for multi-surface cleaning, including carpets. It works well on low to medium-pile carpets due to its Tri-Brush System. However, its performance on high-pile carpets may not be as effective because thick carpet fibers can hinder the movement and suction of the vacuum. If you have high-pile carpets, it may be necessary to use a traditional vacuum for deep cleaning.
2. How does the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 handle pet hair? This vacuum is equipped with a multi-surface brushroll that is designed to pick up pet hair from floors and carpets. The side brushes and channel brushes help to capture hair along edges and in corners. While it does a good job with pet hair, regular maintenance of the brushroll and filter is recommended to ensure optimal performance.
3. Can I schedule cleanings with the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751?Yes, you can schedule cleanings with the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 using the SharkClean app. This allows you to set specific times for the vacuum to start cleaning, even when you’re not at home. The vacuum can also be started manually or via voice control with Alexa or Google Assistant.
4. How does the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 navigate around furniture and obstacles? The Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 uses sensors to navigate around furniture and obstacles in your home. It is designed to avoid collisions and drop-offs, such as stairs. However, in some instances, it may gently bump into objects as part of its navigation process. For best results, remove clutter from the floor before starting a cleaning session.
5. What maintenance is required for the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751?To maintain the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751, you should regularly empty the dustbin, clean the filter, and remove any tangled hair or debris from the brushroll. The side brushes may also need to be replaced periodically. Following the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines will help to keep the vacuum running smoothly.
6. Does the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 work well on dark or black carpets?Robot vacuums, including the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751, may sometimes struggle with dark or black carpets because the cliff sensors can mistake them for ledges or stairs, causing the vacuum to avoid those areas. However, many users have reported that this vacuum can clean dark carpets without issues. It’s recommended to test the vacuum on your specific carpet to determine performance.
7. What happens if the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 runs out of battery during cleaning? If the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 runs out of battery during a cleaning session, it will automatically return to its charging dock to recharge. Once it has enough battery power, it can resume cleaning where it left off, ensuring your floors are thoroughly cleaned.
8. Can I control the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 with my smartphone?Yes, you can control the Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV751 with your smartphone using the SharkClean app. The app allows you to start and stop cleanings, set schedules, receive notifications, and monitor the status of your vacuum. Additionally, you can use voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free control.

Poor quality
Poor quality product. Stay away from it.. I thought this is original shark but it is not..
Nicole H. –
Love it
I absolutely love this vacuum. Only issues I have is that is takes a long time to charge. But regardless I would buy it again.
Joyce Burton –
Great floor sweeper!!
Picks up real good! I bought a iRobot and I would never buy another!!! Leaves more dirt than it picks up’
Lindsey Miller –
Already broke
This Robo vac will not hold a charge after less than two months of use. Would not recommend.
Roberta Corrin –
Cleans but suction could be better
I bought this vacuum to sweep the lower level of my home which does not get much traffic. I have another brand of vacuum that I use on the main level of my home. In comparison, this vacuum suction power leaves a lot to be desired. It picks things up but also leaves things behind like lint from my socks.
david l freemyer –
Not a Smart device
This vac has no rhyme or reason for its cleaning plan, gets itself stuck, and has difficulty finding its docking station.
Chris D. –
works great
This robot vac works great. Really gets the dirt of the floor. It made a squeaking noise at first. Wd40 the front wheel solves the problem.
gardenya –
Working great! For price
The media could not be loaded. I want more controller some vacuum cleaner
Aidyn –
Does the job, but….
In our house we call him JJ. JJ does the job. He picks up dirt, dust, hair, food, you name it. HIS battery life after charging is great (2+ hours). It’s easy to clean his dirt bin, dust filter, brushes, etc. I had no issues connecting to wifi and the app. It says he has cliff sensors, BUT they don’t work. I have to continually “rescue” him from falling down from my sliding glass doors into the outside deck area. And when he bumps into things (furniture, etc.) it’s loud. BUT he does the job and the price was right so we kept him.
Susan Wilkerson –
Doesn’t last long
I’ve had this item since September, and it already stopped working quite expensive for an item to work only a few months with no customer help
Dobbs20 –
Be prepared for it to not work
So this is advertised as wifi and app controled/enabled, as many other reviewers will tell you it does not work on wifi or the app. I dont know if theres just a defect with this particular model or not but when a feature set of your devise completely doesnt work i dont know why they’re still selling it. We returned it in a few days after trying all there support and basically they said oh well its just not working for you.
Twin Mama –
Cleans cat litter off hardwood floor
I bought this specifically for daily cleaning of scattered cat litter (from 4 cats) off of a hardwood floor and it does not disappoint. I bought this one due to the price at the time of purchase and not knowing if it would work for litter and figured I wouldn’t be out “that” much money if it doesn’t work that great, it certainly does exactly what I bought it for. My only regret is that now I wish I would have splurged and gotten one that does floor mapping instead of the bump and go method, however, this exceeds my expectations for how well it cleans the litter and cat hair tumbleweeds off the floor. Even with daily running it picks up a lot!

Amazed!
The media could not be loaded. Emptied it twice in just 1 hr! I am amazed! Went from tile to carpet with no problem. Never got stuck on anything. Doesn’t replace my large vacuum cleaner but definitely will help with maintenance during the week with a dog in the house.
Jon K. Howes –
Not again.
I have owned 2 other brands of robots since 2000. I have never had to spend so much time trying to get these things connected and keep them connected. You can’t run a schedule if they’re not connected. On this particular model… i purchased 2 of these at the same time. This one I got connected, but won’t hold the connection and the other Shark never could get it to connect. I am very disappointed in this brand and am going to try to return.
alice kevork –
this product does not work.
This product was a gift that was going to be opened on thanksgiving which passed the return window. However, I would greatly appreciate it if I can get a refund. This product is not as described and I am disappointed with this purchase. please refund and I will return this to you. Alice

WiFi doesn’t work
Won’t connect to WiFi. Im not a boomer I’m smart enough to trouble shoot. It tries but it will not connect to WiFi.
Amazon Customer –
Will not connect
I am very upset about the app. It will not connect to my WiFi. The best feature about the vacuum is being able to run it while gone. Considering returning for a vacuum that will actually connect.
RobbSan –
0 Star
The media could not be loaded. Error code to clean filters. Cleaned filters and checked for blockage but still NOT WORKING! Used it for only 16 months.
LibAnne –
Functional
I bought this as a Black Friday deal. It does the job but is noisy and bangs its way through each room. I have a dog that sheds like crazy so this definitely helps but I will probably be saving up to replace it with a better model in the near future
Being Capricia –
Need to map
Does not map out the house and make a uniform path of cleaning. Goes everywhere bouncing around, hitting walls and missing areas. Suction is good though and can control it from your phone
Kerrissa –
DOES NOT WORK
I got my shark yesterday, tried all night to turn it on. It would not turn on. I read the manual, I watched videos I even watched til toks and it just does not work. Where is the quality control guys?
Robert Hershberger –
Complete joke
This thing is a result of inferior engineering. Doesn’t do the greatest cleaning job and within a month, the one side roller stripped out and now it’s unable to do anything except go in circles
Ashley Bruce –
Description is not accurate.
I read an Amazon’s description that this shark ion robot would not bump into walls or furniture, but that is totally incorrect. It bumps into anything in its path. I called the company and asked what they would do about this because the description was incorrect and I got it because I didn’t want it bumping into my furniture and putting dents and dings in it, but unfortunately they did nothing. So beware.
Surya T –
Worst
Very bad quality! It doesn’t clean properly and it will just hit the wall and make minor damages too. Expected better performance but shark disappointed us a ton!
Katee –
Worked great until it didn’t
if you want a disposable $130 vacuum, go for it! It worked great for 12 months, then suddenly doesn’t work anymore.
AMW –
Stopped working after 5 months
Bought new in June – 5 months later it’s stopped working. It was on a 3 day a week schedule to run. It now runs into everything and goes in circles and has a hard time finding its dock. I recommend spending your money elsewhere! Very disappointed!
Mixtape Kid –
Worked OK for a Few Months and Then Died
I purchased this in July 2022. It worked until last spring, so it lasted for less than a year. When it did work, it worked ok – it’d get stuck a lot and it skipped over areas of my house even though I was trying to teach it where to go. Where it stands now? Broken in a box. Some of the charger lights will turn blue or green when I try to charge it but on the actual machine, there is no indication that any charge is getting through – the unit is completely dead. None of the lights will turn on directly on the machine. None of the buttons work. I plan on following up with the company that sold this/Shark but that takes time and I don’t have time to deal with this annoying issue of complaining, returning and then being given trouble re whether it’s covered under warranty. I hope | Shark or the Amazon seller will see this review and contact me. I’d love a new machine or a refund. I had it working for less than one year – probably 7 months at most.
Angelyn –
Robot is great, App & wifi not so much
Love this little robot but all of a sudden it just won’t let me control it through the app on my phone anymore. I’ve tried everything to no avail. It still works when I press the button on the robot but not having the ability to connect remotely sucks. Shark needs to get a fix for this. 👎🏼
Deborah Warrek –
Love this
Can’t believe how good this works. Runs very strong gets into all areas
CC –
Not smart like it’s advertised!
Machine goes in circles, does not clean the edges of the room.
Marshall P. –
Poor coverage and useless app
vacuum does not cover all areas. It bounces around With no methodology at all. The only thing that app is good for is to start cleaning. The other functions like return to dock or pause do nothing. Would not buy again.
Nancy –
Don’t Waste Your Money
I’ve owned several of these and this one is horrible. Brand new and won’t keep its charge. A waste of time and money because it cost nearly as much to return.
Allison M. –
Not a bad vacuum but no wifi/app connection
Not a bad little vacuum. We can’t get it to connect to WiFi or the app. We have tried troubleshooting and even contacting Shark for help with not much of a response. The robot will still work without the app and does a decent job but it’s not what we wanted.
Sal K –
Less than stellar
Vacuums well. Instantly picked up loads of cat hair. It cannot find the dock…..ever. in between use had to add the robot and resync it each time. I’m running out of silly names to call it. It is supposed to be easy. It does not operate well since It cannot ever dock and It never responds to app unless deleted and re-added. This was the inexpensive model get what you pay for.
Gordon C. –
Not as good as Eufy
The media could not be loaded. I bought it to replace my old Eufy which had lasted for 3 years and just finally gave up. I own a Shark handheld so i thought this would be a good replacement and it was $30 less than the Eufy S21. The vacuum itself has good suction, however the issue is it slams so hard into my white baseboards that I have to believe I will have a black rubber ring through my whole house soon. The Eufy was more gentle and in fact when it detected a baseboard would run seamlessly along it to claen. This Shark just bangs away head on hard into the samespace over and over. No remote, an App is needed, but often the vac will show as disconnected. Will probably give away to my daughter and go get a Eufy to replace.
Del –
No worth it
First off it has no mercy it just hit what ever is the way full force I’m sure you’ll have marks on your furniture sooner or later. It never goes back to the dock. The suction is the only thing I find on it decent, however the the brush that sweep it under are very tiny. I don’t really think its worth it I’d love a refund
Maggie –
Great product
We have three dogs and this makes my life so much easier.
Lindsey –
Terrible product
I regret purchasing this vacuum robot. It’s supposed to make my life easier, but it’s a constant headache. The app that’s supposed to control it is completely unreliable. The vacuum often misses spots and leaves my floors still dirty. The mapping and sensor capabilities of this device are quite disappointing. It struggles to navigate efficiently and often misses spots, leaving dirt and debris behind. Additionally, its poor dirt pickup performance makes it ineffective in maintaining a clean floor. I wouldn’t recommend this product for anyone looking for an efficient and reliable robot vacuum. Save your money and invest in a more reliable vacuum robot!
Amazon Customer –
Very easy to set up on phone app
I come home from work everyday to clean floors. Only bad thing is it gets stuck on something once in a while, but it has a finder using the app.
Sierra Froman –
The app doesn’t work
The shark itself does a good job but it will not connect to the app. I have tried every troubleshooting issue and it is not my WiFi. I tried to reach out to tech support and it is impossible to get any information from them. The app is a crucial reason I bought this to map it out and run it when I am not here. I am very disappointed.
G. Middaugh –
Works great but could be better
I like that it connected to Wi-Fi right away. I like that I can program it to run when I want. It’s easy to clean. Runs for about an hour and a half before returning to dock. Downside is there is no rhyme or reason to how it cleans. It just randomly runs around. First one I’ve ever owned so next one will be the kind that had an actual cleaning path
Ken –
Vacuum cleaner woks by itself
It’s a great way to clean without having to clean your self. It will return to the charge station on its own.Covers all of your space and all you have to do is empty it. Glad a bought this one.
Dana –
Bumps into everything
This shark bumps into it all. Very noisy. Do not recommend, especially for the price.
Chris –
Always goes back to dock by herself
I’ve had many that struggle to go back to their charging station when done. The shark finds her way back easily and is always charged when I need it
Guadalupe D. –
Okay for the price
Overall, I mean it gets the job done. I usually set it before I go to work in the mornings and then come home to a clean floor. That being said, it’s pretty loud. So using it while you are at home would drive you crazy. ALSO it will not connect to the app or anything. If you bought it because of the app return it. You basically have to just push the buttons manually whenever you want your house cleaned.
Lauren Bartunek –
Decent vacuum, not even a little bit intuitive
Works well as a vacuum. I have a cat and even running it on consecutive days I’m surprised by the amount of fur and dust it picks up. If you’re expecting it at ALL to be “smart” though, you’ll be disappointed. Runs randomly (no mapping) and even has trouble finding the dock when you command it to dock (in my 700 sq foot apartment). Repeatedly gets stuck on ledges and will just continue to run while stuck. But will also try to vacuum my feet and doesn’t stop or take a hint when I kick it away. Overall just okay for a cheap robotic vacuum. Glad I got it discounted on prime day.
Erica –
Dont waste your time
While the suction is great. I received a different model that what is shown. The wifi connection never worked. It only lasted a year and a few months. The warranty is only good for a year.
David 47 –
Good Quality
Works great on wood floors. Takes the bending out of cleaning under beds.
Pamela Cunningham –
Very random and app won’t connect
I bought this to replace another brand that I had a few years ago. I missed my robot vac. LOL This one picks up well, goes over rugs and under most things but it’s super random where it goes. It will enter a room, bump into something and leave. Might go back. Might not. There doesn’t seem to be any obstacle sensors so it literally bumps into EVERYTHING, EVERY TIME. It eventually gets the floors swept (or mostly) but when it bumps into something it doesn’t find it’s way around the thing, it just turns in a completely random direction and goes until it numbs into something else. It may work better with the app but I’m fairly tech savvy and still (after a month of trying) can’t get it to connect. I thought it might be my older iPhone (XR) but recently upgraded to iPhone 15 Plus. Still won’t connect to wi-fi even after multiple times restarting the router, my phone and the vac and starting over. Even deleted the app several times and reinstalled. Nope. It finds the vac but just won’t connect to WiFi. So, overall it sweeps up pet hair and everyday dust well but is very directionally challenged. Seriously, one bump into a wall or table and it will leave the area in a random direction until it bumps into something else. About as quiet as any other and finds it dock well. Right now it’s sweeping the bathrooom AGAIN because it bumped into the hallway wall. Again. 🤦🏼♀️
