Navigating the Trade-offs: The Upsides and Downsides of the Product
The product in question, a robot vacuum, has garnered a range of responses from users. One of the notable strengths highlighted by several customers is its “value for the money”, indicating that it performs well on both carpet and wood floors. The robot vacuum has been praised for its ability to handle pet hair effectively, with one user noting, “this thing can clean up some dog hair without getting clogged”. Furthermore, users have mentioned the convenience of setting up cleaning schedules through the app and its ability to navigate and clean different areas of the house methodically. The vacuum has been recognized for its quiet operation relative to other models, making it less intrusive during use.
Many users are delighted with the vacuum’s performance on rugs and its ability to pick up a significant amount of pet hair, dust, and debris, providing a cleaner living environment. The product’s memory and navigation system have also been commended, with a customer expressing, “Everyone should have one”, reflecting its high efficiency and utility in maintaining home cleanliness. Additionally, the battery life has been satisfactory for some, as it allows the robot vacuum to complete its tasks without needing to return to the dock prematurely.
However, there are several criticisms that have been repeatedly mentioned across the reviews. One common issue is the product’s noise level, with users finding it to be “louder” than expected. Moreover, there are reports of the robot vacuum getting “stuck” or moving aimlessly, which detracts from its efficiency. The inability to transition over rugs smoothly and false “cliff alerts” in houses without steps have been a source of frustration for some customers.
The product’s design also seems to hinder its performance under certain furniture due to its height. The lack of a reliable return-to-dock feature when the battery runs out has been a concern for several users. Another significant issue raised is the poor app experience, particularly with the Android version, which appears to be “slow, and problematic”. Users have reported difficulties with the initial Wi-Fi connection and unresponsiveness within the app interface. The product’s inability to support multiple floors and its cumbersome maintenance, such as the need for a screwdriver to remove the air vent cover, have been highlighted as drawbacks.
Some customers have expressed outright disappointment with the robot vacuum, describing it as “Absolute Garbage” due to its operational inefficiency and the fact that it requires constant remapping. In contrast, others have faced mechanical issues, like brush roller errors and connectivity problems, which have led to a degraded user experience. The effectiveness of the vacuum on carpets has also been questioned, with one user noting that it “Doesn’t pick up a single thing on carpet”.
What do the stars speak of?
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
Disclaimer This is the first robot vacuum I ve had so I don t have a lot of experience to compare to That being said this thing picks up all of the cat hair all of the dog hair all of the dust bunnies and all of the random things that end up on the floor like dryer lint grass from our shoes crumbs it hasn t missed anything yet My expectations weren t very high honestly I mostly just wanted it because even if it did an awful job I could still take a day off of swiffering and there s an off chance my cat might ride it so those were my hopes and dreams for this So far I ve taken almost all of the days since we ve had it off from swiffering but no luck yet on the cat riding it With two cats medium hair and two dogs medium hair one of which stress sheds there s hair On everything Everywhere It collects in all the corners and crannies into little hair tumbleweeds so that when you move something they go a rolling across the floor No hair tumbleweeds with this thing My husband
So I had a lesser model of the same brand and was super happy about it. Unfortunately, the motor died, and I thought I’d get an upgrade. We’ll, not so much. It’s louder, it often gets “stuck” either moving aimlessly back and forth or in circles or just in one place without moving at all. It doesn’t get over rugs as easily (we have tile). It gives me “cliff alerts” or whatever is the case when we don’t have any steps in our house… it doesn’t return to the dock when the battery is out on its own. It’s just a bit too high to get under a lot of the furniture I have. I haven’t used the app, so I can’t speak to that. I wish I could return and repurchase the base model I used before.

Randomly stops
I’ve used shark robot vacuums in the past but this one is terrible. It never successfully docks, it will just stop in the middle of the room with the brush rollers still on but won’t drive. If you try to dock it on the app nothing happens, and if you pick it up and place it on the charger the brush roller still won’t turn off. You have to wait for it to die to turn off and return to the charger. I thought it was a one time glitch but it does it every day I run the vacuum. I regret spending so much money on this

Stopped Working just before One Year
I ordered a Shark vacuum when I moved into my brand new home; I have plank vinyl flooring throughout, with a few area rugs. No pets and no kids, so the house is spotless. I ran the vacuum throughout the whole house about once a week and periodically in certain areas that I used frequently (i.e. touch up the dinette, etc.) I called the Help Desk, which took forever – verifying my information was painful as there was a bit of a language barrier, but once I got through that, the representative sent me a video chat, so she could see what the robot was doing. She then heard the “error code” for herself – the vacuum would only run for 2 seconds, give an error code, and claim there was something “under the unit”, even though it had been cleaned and the floor was flat. She said there is no way to repair it and I was past the time to return it. I paid nearly $300 for something that didn’t even function for one full year! It is very disappointing and as I didn’t pay the extra $40 for the protection, there was nothing she could do. Honestly, I shouldn’t have to pay an extra $40, just to have something covered that stops suddenly working within a year. This is an expensive little item here! This is the first review I’ve ever written on Amazon but I just wanted to get the word out to folks to either a) select another product, b) pay the extra 40 bucks or whatever and c) to proceed with caution! I don’t want anyone to pay the costly learning lesson that I had to experience!

It’s ALWAYS something!
I’ve owned this vacuum for about 8 months now and it can’t make it to the trash quick enough. More isn’t always better! I replaced a 2 year old Eufy that worked fine but I wanted a schedule, zoning and consistent pathing. Every day this thing has something stuck or is stuck somewhere or has some random issue. I have to search for it because it’s never back on the dock. Better vacuums for less money!

This thing cleans!
Our floor is NEVER dusty. This thing gets stuck all the time but we often leave things out that it gets caught on. It’s kind of a game at this point. Where’s the vacuum!?! But even with it getting stuck the floors are super clean! I rarely even mess with emptying it too. When I do get around to it it’s packed full of dirt. The thing just cleans so well!

Doesn’t hold a lot of debris
It does a good job, but I have to empty 2 to 3 times before it completes my house, which is not more than 1200 Sq ft.

Very efficient!
This robot goes places I’m not able to get to with my big vacuum. Cleans very well. Highly recommend!

Firm ware and Firm ware updates did not work.
Great suction, transition between carpet and hardwood. Unresolved firm-ware issues, several calls with company IT dept. Returning.

Useless after 18 months
I have two (2) problems with this $300 vac after only 18 months: 1) ROLLER WON’T STAY IN: The roller will no longer stay in. EVER. It falls out the minute I lift the vac off the charger. When I put my hand under the vac to hold the roller on and carefully set the vac down on the carpet it may work for 5 minutes before the roller falls out and the vacuum leaves it behind. 2) WILL NOT CHARGE. No matter how I wiggle and tilt and play around to get it to make contact, the vac will no longer charge. And, YES, we HAVE cleaned the contact points. WHY is everything made to fall apart not long after it is one-year old? It’s disgusting how much waste is created because corporations want us to replace everything we buy every 1-2 years.

Very poorly made product.
The vacuum is very noisy and clunky. The the vacuum runs around talking the entire time spouting off up to 38 error messages and then starts over with #1 and repeats all 38 again. The help line at Shark was very helpful, they had me delete and reboot the unit several times. When it was rebooted each time it would create separate problems. It now lives at the county dump.

Does a good job
We have purchased a couple different brands and styles of low-profile robotic vacuums, and we have really liked this Shark. We use this one on laminated vinyl plank flooring. It was fairly easy to set up. (We are old and not techy.) The Shark picks up dirt and dog hair satisfactorily. (It also likes to do a number on small puzzle pieces. It tracks well and doesn’t miss any spots. We haven’t noticed any black scuff marks on the dark taupe baseboard yet. It hasn’t had much trouble docking although, now and then, it pushes the base away from the wall and then it can’t find its way home. Not a biggie. We especially like that it is a little quieter than another brand that we also run in a different part of the house. This is the second Shark we’ve bought, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Anon –
It’s quiet and almost good
Very quiet, which is nice, and picks up most debris. Does a thorough job, doesn’t miss any spots. Large bin to hold lots of debris. Only complaints are with the brushes: there are only 2 and they Always break, so are pretty useless. They usually break during the 1st run, don’t last at all. The remaining pieces are then very hard to pry off. I probably wouldn’t buy again because of this, but other than that it does work well.

Worked less than 6 months
Worked great at the beginning after about 3 months I noticed it wasn’t picking up as well. I have cleaned every piece of it from the rollers, filter etc. 6 months after purchase it just swirls debris around and has lost most of the suction. It still picks up hair but does not have enough suction to pull it into the dust bin. So you get chunks of debris distributed all over d nothing makes it into the dust bin, it literally jams up behind the roller and then falls back out making a bigger mess. So disappointed.

The worst of the 4 I’ve previously ordered…
It says I do not have to use Google and other tech to use it. So I just like to turn it on and let it wander…I have cats that run around and shed. It started out kind of okay…very slow and acts like a 109 year old unit. To empty the debris box is a big pain. The original first two or three were much easier and bigger. It’s difficult to dock by itself and I often have to help it. Bending is why I bought the damn thing…so I would NOT have to… Anyway not sure what to do with this machine. It cost a lot of money and I don’t think it’s worth it. Although the older versions did not clean corners as well, I don’t see this one being any different. The only good thing I have to say is it’s quiet. Sorry…

Suction error
I had a shark for years loved it. Thought it was time for an upgrade the new one can not even go one round without having a auction motor error with is dog hair. Now I clean my house regularly but I have a dog, a golden doodle, which do not shed a lot but every animal sheds. So anytime I use it I have to baby sit it. If I know I had to watch it I would just sweep or vacuum.
Dod –
It function but not quite like it says…
It picks up, it does do the rows, it will for the most part go around an item. The problem I have had is that it keep the old map. Let me explain…If you have to reset your map on the vacuum for any reason it seems to keep the old map that you deleted. So when you go to make the new map it doesn’t seem to override the first one. Mine always once to do both maps. So where there used to be chair legs from the dinner room and there is not anymore it still wants to do them only now it’s in my living room. My model did not come with remote. Here’s a tips, if you get this model check to see if your screw-in door stoppers are at the same height as the vacuum because mine keep turning mine off.

After approximately six months began operating with a very high noise level.
The first few months I enjoyed the device. I felt it clean relatively well. Not so great along the walls or corners, but it was acceptable. However, in the past couple weeks it now operates at a high noise level. I reached out to the support group and the issue was resolved during troubleshooting. Impressed with the support

Waste
Great idea but it sucks! You have to move EVERYTHING from the area and it also needs ALOT of space where it is plugged in.

Love shark robot vacuums
This is a good product but parts to fix it if it breaks are sort of on the expensive side

Won’t stay connected
I have owned 2 other brands of robots since 2000. I have never had to spend so much time trying to get these things connected and keep them connected. You can’t run a schedule if they’re not connected. On this particular model… I never could get it to connect. I am very disappointed in this brand and am going to try to return.

That it works correctly
It’s still loses its mind and decides to leave a room before it finishes. It does clean very well. You could say it sucks in a good way. I’m satisfied as of now. It did a good job mapping our house. So right now I’m blaming it on the wifi. It’s name is Steve McClean! HaHa.
Joyce E. Williams –
Goes it straight lines!
This is our second of these. Love bc it cleans in rows and not just randomly all over the place. Only gave it 4 stars bc our first one only lasted 2.5 yrs. Replacement drivers were almost as expensive as buying new, so went that route.

Absolute Garbage!!!
This thing is worse than the garbage it picks up! It needs to constantly map out the area before it goes and cleans the room you selected. By the time it gets anything done I could have vacuumed the selected room in 30 seconds! And no I can’t just leave it while I’m out because it always seems to get stuck on absolutely nothing!! Never buying a robot vacuum from anyone again.

It is surprising how this vacuum works and how well it does the job.
This Machine has a better memory and does the job better than most people. Everyone should have one.

Can get a way better vacuum for similar price
Good: the anti-pet hair feature on the roller seems to work well. Bad: compared to my Wyze LIDAR robovac, almost everything else. The app is slow, and problematic. The Android version would never set up on my Wi-Fi, I ended up using my wife’s Apple phone to make the initial Wi-Fi connection. The app software is unresponsive , leaving you wondering if anything is happening after you press something. The robot would not go around a bed in the master bedroom, as you can see from the map attached. The Wyze vacuum has a quick mapping feature that allow me to quickly label all the rooms. This vacuum does not support multiple floors. Just an all-around disappointment when I have seen others similarly priced that can do so much better. Also, it looks like you need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the cover of the air vent. On two other companies vacuums it just pops off so you can tap it against the trash can

Should have purchased sooner
Our Shark iRobot or Dot as the family calls it has made my life easier. I no longer have to vacuum downstairs (Tile and rugs). I have the app set to specific times everyday of the week and it works like a charm. The mapping feature is great and Dot really keeps the memory. The battery life seems to be good because I have the settings set for the strongest power and it has never needed to return to the dock to recharge before finishing.

Not so great
In the beginning this vacuum was great but now that we have had it three months it keeps showing a brush roller error and I have cleaned it probably 8 times today and also vacuumed it out with another product. It is no longer working.
Amazon Customer –
It’s ok
This worked fine maybe the first 3 times aside from the fact that I was never able to connect to the app. After about the third time using it, it does not even go throughout the house like it originally did & acts confused. I’ve tried resetting it with no luck.

Works so well!
I love this vacuum. It works much better than my previous irobot. It picks up my pet hair and leaves the floor so clean. My favorite thing about it is that it can go on top of my thick rug and navigates the house really well. It is also quieter than other vacuums I’ve had
Kelly S –
So far so good!
I did a decent amount of research before settling on this product and so far, I am pleased! It is about as “quiet” as you would expect a robot vacuum to be – I run it while working and not while watching TV. It seems to be relatively purposeful in cleaning the room once it has it mapped – it might take awhile and the path might appear to be repetitive but eventually, it does seem to get it all so I really enjoy that. The suction seems great! I use mine in an area that includes the kitchen, dining room, and living room so it’s primarily getting dust, dog hair, and kitchen crumbs and it does a great job. It does go back to it’s dock once it hits a certain % of battery which I think I can change as a setting. I love that you can set a schedule!

FANTASTIC COMPANY
Let me start off by saying that I am not one to write reviews. That being said, this review is WAY OVERDUE! Let me explain: I purchased this product back in Feb 2022. My reason for purchasing my Shark (aka Cinderella) was due to my two rescue dogs that shed like no other! Well, my Shark was such a Godsend! I could not BELIEVE how much hair this thing picked up….EVERY DAY! (And I even brush them daily!) Jump ahead 1.5 years later & my poor Cinderella developed a problem with her “cliff sensors” and would not run. When I called Customer Support, my intentions were to purchase new cliff sensors. After I explained the problem to the sweetest customer service representative, she informed me that the problem was in the main unit. My heart instantly fell (how am I going to explain to my hubby that I need to purchase another one as the warranty is only for one year?) Well, lo & behold, this wonderful csr informed me that she was going to send me a NEW ONE at no cost to me!! I will never purchase another vacuum from any other company! Thank you Shark Ninja!

Works 1/2 the time. Maybe
Doesn’t pick up a single thing on carpet. Worked pretty good in hardwood until the return window passed. Now it’s glitching out and shutting down. Not worth the $$$.

Easy to use and nice app
Easy to use app simplifies the set up and use. The app develops a map of your homes floor after its first use. Then once the map is created you can set the vacuum on a schedule to do individual rooms or the whole home which I love because I don’t have to be home while it’s running. The vacuum isn’t loud. I personally wouldn’t want it running while I’m trying to sleep but I can easily take a phone call while it’s running Works great on hard wood floors. (I don’t have carpet) I clean the canister once a week and vacuum the whole apartment 3 times a week. 700sq feet apartment takes about 1.5 hrs to vacuum I don’t have pets or kids

Dedicated, conscientious, hard-working and thorough
I wish I had this little guy when I was working full time and raising children. I spend a few minutes in each room picking up and clearing the way as much as possible. It’s well worth it because it does a very thorough job. I only have hard wood floors and rugs, no carpets, but it moves seamlessly between floor and rugs. I pick up the very thin carpets in the bathrooms and kitchen. In any corners left (it’s not perfect but it’s very, very good), I just use a swiffer duster and a hand-held portable vac and we’re done. I love it! I purchased two reels of the magnetic strips and very pleased. I don’t use the wi-fi or the app because it only uses 2.4G and I only have 5G. But I don’t miss it. I just seal off an area with the magnetic tape and let it run in one room at a time. You don’t need the app. It maps the area each time then it runs up and down in segments – very methodically – and finds its dock every time when it’s done. It’s very persistent and quite gentle going around furniture and obstacles but I do pick up floor vases and so on just in case. Battery takes quite a time to charge so I do one area a day or one in the morning and one again in the evening after it recharges for several hours. My house is spotless now. I won’t say it’s a perfect deep clean on the rugs but if you do it regularly it’s very effective. I don’t feel the need to get out the big vacuum ever again.

Two Brushes Up Front Are Game Changing!
We had another brand, but when that one died after a few years, we decided to try a different brand and settled on this one because it had 2 of the whisker spinning brushes instead of one. As you can imagine, it worked twice as well!! We never looked back! Would recommend it to anyone!!
