A Closer Look: Advantages and Disadvantages of the Product
The Motorola MA1 Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter has received mixed reviews from customers, with some praising its functionality and convenience, while others have encountered issues and limitations. One of the major advantages of this adapter is its ability to provide a wireless connection for Android Auto, eliminating the need for a physical USB cable. Users appreciate the seamless integration with their car’s infotainment system, allowing them to easily access their phone’s features and apps on the car screen. The wireless connection also enables fast charging with a PD car charger, eliminating the slow trickle charge experienced with a USB data cord. Many users have found the setup process to be quick and straightforward, with the adapter connecting automatically and reliably to their phones. It is particularly praised by those with wired Android Auto setups, such as Honda owners, who appreciate the convenience and ease of use provided by the wireless functionality. The compact size of the adapter is also appreciated, as it does not take up much space and can be easily installed in the car. Positive reviews highlight the improved quality of life and the elimination of cord-related frustrations. Users enjoy the convenience of having their phone’s content readily available on their car screen without the hassle of connecting and disconnecting a USB cable.
However, there are some drawbacks and limitations to consider. Some users have experienced issues with the adapter draining their phone’s battery quickly, which defeats the purpose of a wireless connection as they end up needing to charge their phone via the car’s USB port. There are also reports of the adapter having a short lifespan, with some users experiencing failures and malfunctions after only a few months of use. This raises concerns about the durability and reliability of the product. Connectivity issues have been reported by some users, including difficulties in pairing and occasional disconnections during longer drives. This can be frustrating and disrupt the seamless wireless experience that the adapter is intended to provide. Some users have also expressed dissatisfaction with the customer service provided by Motorola, citing difficulties in getting assistance or a replacement for a faulty adapter. Overall, while the Motorola MA1 Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter offers the convenience of wireless Android Auto connectivity, it comes with potential drawbacks such as battery drainage, limited lifespan, and occasional connectivity issues. Users should weigh the advantages and disadvantages before making a purchase decision.

The most helpful positive feedback Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 29, 2023 by kenny, and is titled “It works well but……”
It works great when it is working. I travel 33 miles to work and without fail I lose connection at the same spot on my drive every day going both ways. It takes a minute to reconnect then is good for the remainder of my drive.

Worked great!….for 7 months
After only 7 months of it working perfectly, unfortunately it no longer works; attempted all the “recommended” processes as proposed by Motorola however to no resolve; waiting to hear back from Motorola.

Would not stay connected
No matter which car or phone, it would not stay connected.

Easy to setup
The initial setup was faster and easier than others that I’ve tried. The pairing afterwards, is pretty quick as well.

Buyer Beware, not built to last.
I bought it as a Christmas gift and it lasted about 8 months. The install process and connection was tedious but great when it worked. I’m really disappointed that it stopped connecting. I tried resetting it and to no-avail. The connection light would never stay green. Buyer beware, it’s a great idea but I didn’t last for me.

No more wires
Very easy to setup. Worked perfectly.

It worked fine for like 9 months
It worked well for 9 months, one day it just stopped pairing to my phone, I tried factory resseting it and a bunch of other online recommendations, it never worked again.

Piece of crap
Worked the first time it was plugged in then didn’t work again. Do not buy this!

The solution for anyone tired of wired android auto
Simple to set up, works flawlessly and reasonable price if your car only support wired android auto and you want the functionality without the cable. 10 out 10 recommend

6 month lifespan
Worked great for a few months. Now it glitches out, will not stay connected, cuts in and out. Not worth the price!! So frustrating.

Worked great for 7 months
This worked great for about 7 months. Now it’s useless, works for a few seconds then stops… Repeat over and over. Hopefully they will replace it, otherwise it’s an expensive paperweight.

The best thing for Android auto
This made going wireless so easy. The price may be higher than other similar devices, but it was worth it. Connects shortly after turning on my vehicle, and I don’t notice any lag between my inputs. Now I get Android auto without have to take my phone out of my pocket to connect it to a wire. I have a wireless charger which makes this even better.

Unstable connection
Hardware looks ok with quality plastics. The connection is quite fast after installing it for the first time, I have no issues with that, it has never failed me when starting the car, in just a few seconds Android Auto is already working. The problem for my is the unstable connection, it seems to be working just fine but suddenly the music starts to sound like a scratched CD and next thing the connection is lost and after a few seconds it reconnects. This happens sometimes on my daily commute, but with longer drives, it will almost certainly happen.

Not For Multiple Devices
After many attempts this would not pair with a second phone even though it’s supposed to. Both phones are exactly the same phones.

Motorola Android Auto
Excellent. Plugged it in and linked the wife’s phone to it. Also linked my phone to it. Now when either one of us gets in the car it automatically connects to android auto. According to the instructions it requires android 12 or above. Both our phones are 13. May or may not work with older phones.
Parrish R Turner –
Works!
It worked as advertised right out of the box. No issues with connectivity and works well in my 2019 Nissan Maxima. Highly recommend.
Brian Crook –
Waste of money! Stopped working after a week for no reason.
Stopped working with both our phones after only a week. Tried every factory reset and fix I could find and no luck. Can’t return it as I no longer have the box.

Works great, won’t connect if VPN is on though.
Easy setup, worked first time within a few minutes. After a month of use, no problems yet. Pixel 7 pro. Just remember to turn off VPN if you use it. Would be nice if I didn’t have to turn off vpn. Otherwise perfect.

Do not buy
After less than 1 year the adapter is unusable. Doesn’t connect to phone doesn’t work at all. The entire time up to this is was a struggle to get it to connect at all. Do not buy this. Wait for a better one.

Great Wireless AA but
If you are okay for having this for a short-term, then I totally recommend. The reason I am giving this a three star instead of five: Short version: * Did not last longer than I expected * Motorola AA Wireless instructions/troubleshooting limited online * Manual unclear * USB is attached to the device itself. Would be great if we can replace the USB Long Version: Ordered on Dec. 2022 and used it without any issue until July 2023. I was driving with my AA on my car screen and suddenly it stopped working when I was driving on the new road. Thinking it could have been my phone, I stopped, did unplug and re-plug and made sure everything was updated, but did not work as it was doing the following: Flashing white light > One quick green flash > red light for 1 to 2 sec > and repeats. There no other manuals for this situation other than telling me to reboot everything when everything fails, which I did when I went home, but was doing the same thing. I had to throw away the device unfortunately but was extremely happy for the seven months of having it & using it every day.

Disconnects 3rd gen Tacoma
Ever since I bought it this thing had trouble connecting to my 2021 Tacoma. It would randomly disconnect then reconnect, tried wiping all connections from truck and phone but nothing made a difference. Now it won’t connect at all, Bluetooth connection is completely gone from device and does not show up on phone anymore. Do not buy, too many other similar issues with this device.

Works great!
I’ve tried several similar products that did not work in my 2020 Camry. This device worked perfect! I just plugged it in and followed the simple directions and it connected right away. I’ve been using it several weeks now and even on a long trip it never disconnected.

Quick Connect
At first I was having problems with my 4g phone connecting. I would have to go through the entire process almost every time I got in the truck, which defeats the purpose. But before returning I got a new 5g phone, which I was planning on doing since my moto g power 4g was giving a lot of problems. Ever since I switched to a moto g power 5g phone it connects very quickly to my radio when I get 9nto the truck. Sometimes within seconds and never more than a minute or so. I’m very satisfied with performance.

No further connection problems!
I drive alot and am always using GPS, Spotify or Audible. Have a 2017 Honda Civic and Android Auto has been great up until about 6 months ago. It would disconnect numerous times a day and I had to do fool around doing different things for it to reconnect. I went on forums, You Tube, reddit and did just about everything that was suggested…cleared cache, reinstalled apps, reboot car audio system, etc. And nothing helped. Finally came across suggestion to invest in Motorola device. I was hopeful and skeptical. It was easy to install and has been working without a hitch since! Worth every penny. The only issue was that immediately after install, I got notification on phone to sign up for warranty. I filled out the FREE warranty and it asked me for credit card info, but said I would not be billed. A very short time later I got message from my bank about suspicious activity. I had to cancel my card. I have no idea how that happened, just a warning not to fall prey.

Was perfect until it wasn’t.
I purchased this on March 1st. Easy setup and worked perfect. I would have given this 5 stars but now it doesn’t stay connected for more than 30 seconds and then is loses connection. I have tested it in a different car with a different phone with the same result. Didn’t even get a full 4 months of usage on this. I have had to go back to just plugging my phone in directly into USB for android auto now.

It works exactly how you expect it to work. It’s fantastic.
I struggled for over a year with using Android Auto via a wired connection because sometimes a bump in the road would cause it to disconnect or who knows why it would randomly disconnect. Anyway, it takes just a minute or two to set up. Just plug it into a USB port in your car. I have a 2020 Mazda3 so I plugged it into the port in my center console armrest so that I could close the lid and have it out of the way, and also so I could put my phone in the very appropriately phone-sized area just behind the cupholders underneath the AC controls. The only thing I’ve noticed because I was wondering about it was that it does get quite warm after several hours of use, but that’s to be expected. It wasn’t hot to the touch but got warm. But when I drove from Kansas City to Tulsa, which is a four-hour drive, it worked the entire time perfectly. It didn’t drop out once; no disconnections in the middle of a podcast or song, which was nice for a change. And I haven’t noticed any connection speed issues. When you’re dealing with a Bluetooth connection, the audio will be about a half second behind the video on your device, but that won’t be something you’ll even notice since you won’t be (and shouldn’t be) handling your phone while driving. The only thing I don’t know about it is how well it’ll work with Carplay when I switch to iPhone later this year. Since it’s just a simple Bluetooth connection to my car, it should theoretically work just fine. But I’ll have to see.

Works Poorly
Works bad. Constant disconnections and “bluetooth errors”. Junk product.

Stop Working
I bought this in January, but sadly it stopped working after just 3 to 4 months. At first, I was impressed but it started disconnecting and reconnecting. I attempted to reset it by holding the button, which caused the light to turn red, but it didn’t resolve the issue, and there was no familiar blue flashing light to pair the device with my phone via Bluetooth, which it didn’t display its name like it should have, despite my phone being up-to-date. The solid white light indicating that it was on. Sometimes, a green light would flash when I hold the button a few seconds. Very disappointed with this product. It seemed promising at first, but the fact that it stopped working after just 3-4 months was disheartening.

Quit working
It worked good for 8 months, then quit. Of course, it’s outside return or replace dates. Too much to pay for a device with a short life.
Michael Smith –
No more cables!!
The media could not be loaded. Let me start off by saying the price could be a little lower, but not having to deal with cables anymore makes it all worth it. Works seamlessly with my 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1, took not even a minute to set up. Directions were easy to follow and nicely printed.
Chris Bright –
Works with one small issue for me.
Works well. Initial connection is painless and quick. Connects quickly on start up as well. The issue I have that some may also experience is that the USB port that this wireless Android Auto adapter plugs into does not shut off when I shut off my truck. This means that it is always powered on and trying to connect to my phone. This causes my phone to fight between connecting to this adapter and my home Wi-Fi, constantly bouncing between the two when I am close to my truck (like in my garage). I wish that this adapter was smart enough to auto shutoff feature in itself. I have also yet to see if having this plugged in all night will eventually drain my truck battery, although I highly doubt it.

Worked as described
Easy to setup. 2 thumbs up!

Works great!
I had this approximately a month, and it’s been very solid! I’m really happy with my purchase.
David –
Works pretty well but
Let me begin by saying my issues could be the truck, just don’t know. Connected most of the time after starting my 2022 truck. Sometimes wouldn’t connect at all. After a month would not connect at all. Service dept told me my usb port had burned out, replaced and it’s back to usually connecting, probably connects 80% of the time. When it works, it’s great. Problem may be with truck.
Donna C –
It just works!
Really required no effort to set up for my Pixel 7. After initial Bluetooth pairing it quickly brought up Android Auto on my 2019 Chevy. Now, within seconds of starting the vehicle my streaming music resumes where it left off and, of course, map navigation is immediately available. Seamless.

Great addon for cars that don’t support wireless Android auto
This has been a solid device to extend wireless android auto to my Pixel phone. The instructions are pretty straightforward, but you do have to pay attention to the steps when you first set this up. When I start my vehicle it typically connects to my phone within 15 seconds, and it does support auto-resume of music, which is really helpful so I don’t have to fumble through the screens when I get in and out of my vehicle. Just keep in mind, there is an Android minimum version to support wireless auto, so make sure you are using a supported device. As of this review date, Google lists these devices as supported: -Any phone with Android 11.0 -Google or Samsung phone with Android 10.0 -Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, or Note 8, with Android 9.0

Just what I needed
I got tired of having to buy cords to connect my phone to my truck to use android auto. This is perfect, it was easy to set up and now i dont have to worry about damaging my charging port or the usb port in my truck.

Android Auto works now!
Kicks in about 20 seconds after I start my car. Nice to have Android Auto working without cords

Stops working randomly
Works but randomly stops waits a few second then reconnects middle of the city with perfect service. For this price it should work as normal. Used for a 2023 kia
Chris Gladwin –
Great Product
Great product! Works as advertised. Set up was easy. Now once I get in the car phone automatically connects and Android Auto boots up in a matter of seconds. Now I don’t have to choose between slow charging and using Android Auto or Fast charging the phone without using Android Auto. Used on 2018 Mazda CX-5. I highly recommend.

Was a good product… not great
At first it worked as advertised and only lost Bluetooth connection in one area of the highway going to and from work. After 2 updates from android auto it now constantly loses Bluetooth connection every 3 to 5 seconds. Unplugged, reset both it and phone. Nothing helps. Just went back to a wired android auto that stays connected the whole time while driving. For only having this product a month or two I’m very disappointed with it. I had it connected to a S23 ultra.

Helpfull but not perfect
Avoid to connecté the USB wire, but often unpromptedly deconnected during my trips. It could be nervous boring at the end. I’m using a redmi9pro, maybe not enough power full….

Worked for 8 months and now I cannot connect the device to my phone
This is a great alternative to replacing the head unit. Its easy to set up and connects almost immediately. That being said , I have had the adapter for 8 months which is well past the 30 return policy and 90 days support policy with Amazon, so I haven’t been able to reach anyone on here for help with my unit. The device use to connect with the car after flashing the blue light for a few second and then it would pair with Android auto. But now I’m lucky if I get the blue light flash for a few seconds. I have looked online for a factory reset or other options but no luck. Will try to contact the manufacture for further assistance.
