The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Would not recommend!
From the very beginning as it started to work, it made squeaky noise. I contacted Shark customer service and was given run around, because it’s been almost a month since my purchase and i still don’t have the replacement part, which i told them I don’t need because I’m returning this item. Would not recommend!

No instructions included, but it seems good.
So far so good. It didn’t have any info in the box, so I am still kinda figuring things out. The scheduling and bigger bin is nice. It has closed the door on itself when performing a scheduled cleaning, but the door may not have been open far enough. The phone app is a bit twitchy on my android but works okay. I always get the extended warranty on things like this, as a matter of fact, this is a replacement for a 2.5 yr old basic eyfy. With dogs in the house, a robovac keeps me sane.

Primarily a mop
Seemed to work okay. this is listed as a vacuum + mop, however it is more of a mop that also vacuums prior to mopping. If you have carpeted rooms or large carpets in your home, this will not vacuum those areas. This should be more clear in the description.

It works good
It does tile and carpet. Returns to dock empties and recharges. Petty cool how it maps your home.

Don’t do it
This is going to be the third time that I have given the Shark vac a chance. It doesn’t handle pet hair as advertised. If there is anything other than dust on the floor, it will clog the evacuation port. I have hardwood and tile floors. It’s very loud. When the device begins the emptying process, it makes an extremely loud noise. The robo-vac itself is very loud during operation. You can’t run the device and watch television at the same time. I’m about to try to get my money back for a return. We’ll see how the customer service process works. I will update if possible.

Poor mapping, vacuum generally works well, mopping confuses it
Originally had planned to give this a three star (4 star for vacuuming, 2 star for mopping). However, I find the longer we’ve been using it, the less impressed I am with it’s “intelligence” and the use of its sensors. Original used it for vacuuming and it did well mapping the house. A bit of a pain adding rooms and carpet areas to the map, but once done, it worked well. For some reason, when I added the pad to first try mopping, it suddenly became “dumb”. It took wrong turns and got trapped circling rooms far from where we told it to mop. We had the dock in carpeted room, which made it have trouble docking when it had the pad attached. We moved the dock to a tiled location, remapped the house, and it missed several walls. Tried remapping again, and it missed obvious walls. Gave up and just set up rooms to account for where walls would be. Worked fine as before (could find things when vacuuming, when mopping it would struggle). Feels like it mostly finds things by bumping into things and adjusting course. Not sure what the lidar is doing, it does not seem to make much use of it. Final straw on 2 vs 3 stars was when I went to vacuum a room today, and the map had deleted all my rooms/carpet areas. Quick search showed people complaining about this as long as 3 years ago, so apparently I can look forward to this being a reoccurring problem.

don’t waste your time
the shark is SOOO frustrating to work with !! definitely not beginner-friendly and would not recommend getting this unless you want a 5 lb boulder that takes up an insane amount of space in your home…. i’ve had a few Shark products and can confidently say i will no longer be using their line, they are very hard to work with and there are definitely better products out there… our robot never mapped out our home correctly and had a ridiculously difficult time identifying the carpet zones no matter how many times i tried. it also does not vacuum alone, you are basically stuck with the 2in1 mode forever. at some point, the robot also decided that our wifi just wasn’t good enoufh anymore and stopped connecting to it no matter how many times the robot+router were reset… this thing sucks

Defective Vacuum Electronics
Out of the box, would not pair to the home WiFi. Purchased Dec 2, opened Christmas day, been troubleshooting since; it will not pair to the home WiFi(2.4g) The 2 and 1 vacuum will connect to the app but not to the home, so the app and vacuum does not work as advertised. Tried all described trouble shooting procedures a bizzillion times, it wont pair!!

Better than other robot vacuums
I bought my first Shark in 2024. I decided I wanted a second Shark for the downstairs. It was $200 more than I had initially paid. So instead, I bought a Roomba….every single time I used it, it got stuck somewhere, which has never happened with the Shark. It also banged into furniture so forcefully that I almost lost a vase. The technology is clearly lesser than the Shark. Thank goodness for Amazon’s return policy, I returned the Roomba and bit the bullet for the more expensive Shark. It has never become stuck and glides in the space like an athlete.

Very loud
Cleans the floor fine. So very loud while cleaning and randomly will start cleaning on its own. Do not recommend.

Better vacuums out there.
The mapping function is very poor. Suction is average or below. I constantly have to pick up items this vacuum missed. I had an Amari before which I loved but this one is not a good replacement.

Poor Navigation and Ineffective Carpet Detection
The navigation on this Shark robot vacuum and mop is disappointing. It frequently revisits the same spot multiple times instead of covering the entire area efficiently. Additionally, its carpet detection is unreliable. I’ve tried training it with various carpet sizes, but it still fails to recognise them properly and keeps going over my carpets. Overall, it needs significant improvement in both navigation and carpet identification.

cannot add room
Cannot add a room where for any reason was not initially mapped. Must re-scan. Does not have manual control on app. Map does not track robot.

The most disappointing Amazon purchase I’ve ever made
The media could not be loaded. First off- it does not support multiple level mapping. If you go through the manufacturer’s YouTube videos , people have been requesting this feature for over 3 years and their response is basically “you can always buy another $700 robot for the other level of your home! (:” yeah.. obviously not gonna happen. Just update your software you greedy jerks. There’s no reason it can’t fit multiple level mapping. They also try to tell you “don’t worry! You can always put it on the other level that isn’t mapped, and start a cleaning mission!” … that feature literally does not work. It basically spot cleans a 3-foot by 3-foot area, spinning in circles for an hour, and then shuts itself off and makes the sound like the whole room is cleaned. And no, I didn’t hold down the button and ask for spot cleaning. I pressed it simply the way that they say to. Attached is a video of what my robot has been doing in the same 3 ft by 3 ft rectangle for the past hour while ignoring the rest of the (unmapped) room. It is absolutely insane that such an expensive piece of equipment can’t even do the most basic tasks it was built for. Stick with roomba, they have multi level mapping. That’s what I wish we had done.

Works Great !
I love this Shark robot vacuum, I have a Shark upright but this robot picks up more of the fine dust. It is so easy to program and to operate for a 71 year old woman. I LOVE IT !!
Collin James Quinn –
The Shark has never worked properly and issues cannot be resolved.
From the very first time we used this, it stopped working and gave us an error message about a “fly wheel” . We tried several times to trouble shoot this but it continues to operate for about 5 minutes then stops. I read other reviews and the “fly wheel” issue happens to other people. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

Great vacuum – regular cleaning and maintenance advised.
Have had this for 2+ years and think its great. Yes the app is not brilliant, but once its mapped ok and the schedule is set, you can pretty much forget it. It does alert when the robot is stuck, which can happen easily if you leave anything that might get tangled in the roller, but for most part it works brillliantly to keep pet hair under control The 30 day time between emptying the base dust bin is optimistic if you have 3 pets like we do; I usually have to empty it once a week. Regular cleaning is advisable, as is replacing filters and brushes to keep performance in tip top shape. One other note, its well outside the 1 year warranty period, and today the hinge on the base unit dust bin snapped, so the lid is now held on a little precariously. A replacement from Shark is $55 with tax and shipping, which seems high but there aren’t any alternatives really.

Picks up the hair but gets stuck everywhere
Picks up hair enough to just about fill the container every use. Cans set the schedule for more than once a day though. And the ai mapping/laser I’m pretty sure is bs. This thing gets stuck in the worst spots. It shut down before because there was an umbrella in front of it leaned against the wall. Gets stuck in any and all baby toys/swings and will just sit there sunning over the legs of stuff for an hour

Robot scratched in the first use! Terrible product
I was completely frustrated with this robot from the very first use. It hit all the corners and scratched every part, including damaging its base on the first run! On top of that, it frequently stopped working or got lost, requiring constant intervention. After these interruptions, it takes forever to charge. The Wi-Fi connection is incredibly slow, and to make matters worse, it doesn’t vacuum properly. I’m completely disappointed with this product. I’ve had two other robots before, and both were much better in every way. Would not recommend!

Clean Betty the Robot
Love the vacuum function. Can’t figure out the rug mapping feature, so we won’t use the mop feature until we do. We have approximately 1800 sq. ft., and we divided it into 2 zones. It recharges between the 2 zones. I love that we can check status and program it with our phones.

Great machine, poor reservoir clip
Our robot was spinning between the doorway of our restroom and our hall. It was mopping. Its back hit the door way trim and the little clip that holds the water reservoir to the vacuum flew off into the air. We found it and now it can clip back on, it’s cracked and can’t hold any pressure, therefore it can’t clip. Therefore it can mop anymore. Before that random act it was great on our vinyl plank floor. Also, I tried to look up the reservoir and buy an extra one and they are out of stock. Back to the old school mop I guess. Unfortunate and barbaric

For Your Mental Health, Please Don’t
I’m so sad. I have a Shark regular vacuum and love it. But this thing…let’s just say that after messing around for a week trying to make it work correctly I ended up rage cleaning my whole house yesterday and nearly took the two dogs (the makers of the NEVER ENDING FUR THAT GETS EVERYWHERE) to an animal shelter. I actually think, maybe, the vacuum itself isn’t too bad, and it’s the app that makes you want to pull your hair out by the roots (but don’t because the vacuum won’t be able to find it to pick it up). The app interface is not at all intuitive. It’s really easy to rename your vacuum (so important, insert sarcasm here) but impossible to find where to tell it to mop (there’s a tiny little circle icon with an “i” in it on the top right of the app screen…like for information, but no, that’s what you press to get to the mopping settings.) And the whole app is like that. It’s just doesn’t make good sense. There’s also a looooong lag time between any input into the app and it’s interaction with the vacuum, so you spend so much time just waiting to see if what you pressed will make the vacuum do what you hoped. (Let me just save you some time here, it won’t.) The mapping of carpeted areas is abismal. You set it up manually, based on guessing where and how big your rugs are, and then you have to follow the stupid vacuum while it (painfully slowly) wanders around the house to see if you set it up correctly. And there’s no way to stop and correct it if it’s wrong. You have to send it back to the base and start COMPLETELY OVER. I was only trying to do about 1,200 sf and it took hours and I never did get it even close to right. This unit advertised it had a 60 day capacity in the base unit. Umm..nope. Not even close. I’m VERY clean. Probably ocd. So this little jerk was starting with a clean house. And it didn’t even take two weeks until I had to clean the base unit. The water tank holds about half a cup. I never got the thing to mop my whole house, but I think it maybe cleaned 200 sf (granted, it did clean some of that area three or four times…who knows why) before I had to refill it and then instead of continuing with its job it went back to the base and told me it had “accomplished its mission”. There are more things I would like to complain about, regarding this waste of time, money and energy, but I can feel my blood pressure rising so I will stop here. I have returned it and am on the hunt for a robot mop/vacuum that just does what the ads promise. Please let me know if you’ve found one.

Horrible investment!!!
You literally spend more time maintaining this machine and untangling it from everything than it would take to sweep and mop the floor by hand. These machines are a joke, and the app is just plain frustrating. I highly do not recommend. Instead of spending your money, feel free to come get this thing of mine out of my house. I see why marketplace has a hundred of them listed for little of nothing.

Total garbage don’t waste your money
I bought this thinking it would be able to pick up dirt or crumbs here and there…. What I did NOT think is it would just get stuck in the corner of the room and be too dumb to figure out how to move away. It also cannot clear the small transition from my living room floor to my kitchen floor (raised approximately 3/8 inch). I’ve also noticed it gets clogged constantly on hair from my dog. I would not recommend this product.

Roller bar gets stuck ALOT!
I do not recommend this vacuum if you have long hair, or a long-haired dog! The roller bar gets wrapped with hair EVERY TIME it vacuums, and I have to take it out and unwrap the hair! ( and yes I do brush my dog fairly frequently to try and avoid this issue) .It does a decent job on hard wood or tile floors, but not very well on carpet. It “forgets” to go into some rooms to vacuum and other days it forgets different rooms! Luckily, it does have an option on the app to pick certain rooms- so many times I just send it back out to get the rooms that it forgot to do. Honestly, I would return it if I could… But then I read the Amazon return policy and it said if I already have used it, I would only get “up to “ 50% of my money back. So I guess I’m stuck with it.

Good job cleaning but made loud squeaky sound after 2 months
I love this vacuum except after two months it started making a loud squeaky sound. The sound was pretty loud and you could not have a conversation with vacuum going. I tried to figure out where the sound was coming from but I think it was in the motor. I did return because of the sound but I am thinking of getting another because it did a good job cleaning.

Doesn’t give a full and accurate description
We bought this on Black Friday for a great price. But decided to wait until after Christmas when all the decorations and tree were put away so the sweeper could map the normal layout of the rooms. We unpacked it and my husband was putting on the side sweepers when I read that it should be located on a bare floor and have 3′ space on each side and a 5′ space in front of it, and be close to WiFi. The only bare floors (tile) we have are the foyer, kitchen, bathrooms and back hallway/laundry room. There was no place in any of those rooms to put it that met those requirements. Shark should put that information in the description so those considering buying know if they meet those requirements BEFORE buying it. We really wanted it, but had to return it before it was even fully unpacked. Very disappointed. I stated our reason for returning it was due in innacurate website description on Amazon. So, buyer beware before buying this.

If you want to waste your money buy this vacuum
I regret purchasing the Shark 2-in-1 vacuum. It’s a cheap product that doesn’t deliver. The carpet mode doesn’t work at all—it barely picks up anything on carpet. The vacuum also goes from one side of the house to the other and feels so unorganized and inefficient. It’s overpriced for such low quality. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable vacuum.

Overpriced mop that can’t handle dog hair
The mopping function works fine, but the clogging issue is a major problem. It clogs so easily that I can’t even use it on carpet—one room and it’s already jammed. Even on hardwood floors with minimal dog hair, I have to take it apart and clean it daily. After reading other reviews, I see this is a common issue, so it’s clearly not just my unit. Two months in, I regret this purchase and wish we had gone with something else. It’s essentially an extremely overpriced mop.

Side Brush Won’t Stay On & It’s Too Tall
I purchased this item 6 months ago. It cleans the wide open spaces fairly well except that the side brush attachment will not stay on. This attachment keeps falling off during the cleaning cycle so the side sweep into the path of the roller stops at that point. I didn’t realize how much this impacts the quality of the clean but I’m always having to sweep the side debris that is missed without that brush. The other irritating thing is that the round piece on top of the vacuum makes it taller than all the others I’ve had. This results in it’s not going under furniture or fitting well (deep enough) into the space under kitchen counters. I’m always having to sweep under those to get the debris that gets left. Both these things are irritating & impact the thoroughness of the clean.

Wonderful!
We own a “robot” from another company and needed something for our lower level. The Shark outshines the other major company as far as mapping the house and cleaning. I wish the Shark took pictures and send messages when finished or there is a problem. Otherwise, I would highly recommend! I also like the no bag replacement, it is easy to push the button and empty the container.

Bad product
Bought this less than 2 years ago and it’s officially dead. I’ve replaced parts on it because I really wanted to make it work, but it’s officially not working anymore. I live with my wife and 2 dogs whom are regularly groomed and this thing was constantly getting hair wrapped in its brush. Today it said that the brush was obstructed and after inspection and cleaning it still doesn’t want to work. I give up.

Dog hair eliminator!
This product has totally lowered my frustration with the daily dog fur. It picks up VERY well, self empty’s and makes its way around the house well. You can choose the rooms or vacuum the entire house. So far so good on working efficiency toy with few if any malfunctions. Let’s hope it stays that way. It has been worth the price thus far. Let this machine do the work for you !

Works best on hard floors
This is the second one I’ve had. I like it for several reasons: it works really well on floors without carpet. We have a dog that sheds and it’s really good for removing the dog hair. However, it doesn’t work well on the carpet, in fact, I have seen it go right over dog hair and not pick it up. I have to vacuum the carpets. I like the self-emptying feature but you do have to clean it rgularly. It’s been reliable. I have changed out the parts a few times, including the filters.

They just don’t work
And yes I mean “they” in the title. I have been through 3 of these Shark Matrixes and all 3 have failed within one year. I love Shark/Ninja and most of my ancillary appliances (Coffee maker, air fryer, vacuum, blender, etc.) are Shark/Ninja. However these Roomba knock-off “robot vacuums” are quite simply an engineering failure. At this point, I am a robot vacuum connoisseur, having owned multiple Roombas, Roborocks, Eufys, and Sharks. This Shark was the most expensive of the bunch touting a litany of features such as Lidar, vibrating mop pad, self-empty dock, etc. Those all sound great except for the foundational problem that the vacuum functions poorly or not at all. Shark customer support is good but my wife and I have exhausted our options and quite frankly aren’t willing to even go through the hassle to get another one and go through the literal chore of setting it up. (It takes a solid 15 minutes+ of fidgeting around on their app to get it started). My roborock was 1/5 the price of this and has a mop feature as well and it’s been going strong for 3 years. Sorry, but Shark missed the boat with this one. Big fat F for frustration and failure.

Don’t waste your money
I wish we could get out almost $400 back from this piece of crap product. NOT user friendly at all. Barely came with instructions to set up. Doesn’t run half the time. Constantly have to take it apart to clean. I still can’t figure out how to do the mop function. I wish we could return and just get our money back. This was a really poor buy.
