The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Very happy with this
I’ve had this about a month now, and I’m impressed. It’s doing a great job on the carpets with pet hair, and it’s much better at detecting objects than my last one. The only issue I’ve had is with the cat food dishes. They are too low that it doesn’t see them and tries to drive over them. I may just get the cats taller ones – I’ve been debating anyway. The mop works well too — but since I have to move some rugs by doors to use it the way I want, I don’t do it unless I have an issue to handle. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase.

This robot vacuum/mop is well worth your purchase!
This Shark robot vacuum/mop is everything as advertised! Very easy to set up and use. Managing it from my phone is easy and intuitive. I particularly liked it when it encountered a register cover on the floor, got hung up a little, and actually spoke up and asked for help! You read that right, it asked for some help!

Awesome
I got this as a gift for my daughter. She absolutely loves it. I have a Roomba that always goes under my recliner and get stuck. She said this one does not do that and it makes a map of your house and then you can name the rooms and send it to one place if the whole house does not need cleaned. May be selling my Roomba and getting one of these instead.

Worst product ever
Very expensive product not to work properly. I could not figure out how to just dry clean only as I didn’t want to mop clean daily. It left my floors dirty after mopping. The pad was dirty somewhat and I cleaned it often. It had so many error notifications that I constantly had to check on it. It did not vaccuum well at all even after running it twice in one day. It doesn’t hold much solution and needs a fill about half way into cleaning. After a month of use it just kept getting worse and the battery life was horrible. I had approximately 464 feet for it to clean and in the first 20 minutes of cleaning, it too k itself back to the dock and was at 20-30% battery life. Don’t waste your money.

Quit working after a few months
It did great at first, but within a few months it quit and even with a new battery it was completely dead and wouldn’t make it a few inches off the base before stopping.

Awful vacuum
No matter what we did it would never make it back to the dock and run around till the battery died usually under the couch it’s a terrible product and I won’t buy any shark products in the future

Works almost too good
This thing is awesome! We have wood floors and carpet and it works so well, it needs to be cleaned fairly regularly because I have 5 daughters and they all have long hair and it bogs down the wheel. But, it texts my wife’s phone saying clean me. I would buy it again!

Literally garbage
I was super excited about this robot and so disappointed. We have been going back and forth with the manufacturer for weeks now and have been send 4 different robots so far. The newest robot, still does NOT WORK! Beyond disappointing.

Terrible at vacuuming
I wish I had never bought this – it’s terrible at vacuuming and definitely NOT worth the money
Jonas M P –
It is okay…
This feature to cut down the hair and not get stuck is not working… after two or three uses I lost suction power because the fur of my dog got all stuck in it. I used to have another one, from Bissell, and this was not a big problem, it did require cleaning but the compartment was not for up one month as this Shark. I thought not having to clean the robot would justify the twice as much price for this one… but I regret it now.
kevin Leguizamon –
Worked great for about 60 days, now it won’t mop!
This is a great product in theory but after about 2 months the mop feature doesn’t work. It won’t spray any fluid on the pad. I use this thing religiously with 3 kids and 3 dogs…I like to run it when the kids go to bed and once again in the morning but now all it’s doing is vacuuming. I don’t have any rugs or carpet and clean the mop pad after every use but all of a sudden it won’t work. Don’t buy this system in particular, it seams to be a common issue.

I really like this device, but it does have a few shortcomings
I do like this device, but it’s not quite five stars. We’ll start with the good. It picks up dog and cat hair quite well. I really like that I can sit with my phone and tell it to go do the living room, dining room, kitchen, etc. It claims that the collection bin will last for 2 months before emptying. Not going to happen when you have pets. It does a very nice job on vacuuming, and as you use it more and more, the amount of hair it needs to pick up is less and less. We’ve been using this one for about 5 weeks now. As far as coverage goes it doesn’t pretty thorough job. And it’s very good at working its way around obstructions. Once you get your house set up and your room’s designated, it becomes quite simple to operate. But there are a few shortcomings. With a two story home it naturally can’t get upstairs. So you have to carry it up. The amount of debris the unit it holds is very small. And pet hair builds up quickly. When the pet hair starts backing up into the intake chute, nothing else gets in. And then when it is brought back to the base, you will need to pull that out manually. But as I stated before, as you use it more and more often, you will get less and less pet hair. So it’s inconvenient having to take it up to each individual upstairs room, but with that said, it still does a pretty good job. So the only part about it that is really subpar is the mopping function. And I’m really not that surprised, because it’s just dragging a cloth across the floor with a mopping solution keeping it wet. If I purchase another unit for the upstairs, I will skip the mopping function and go with the lesser priced one that does not have that option. One other function that would be nice would be to have more manual control over areas of the house after the unit maps it out. Not that it doesn’t do a good job, but I’d like to have more control after it’s finished to modify some areas. The big question is basically would I buy it again? Yes, but most probably without the mopping function.

Horrible
This product will not vacuum up the smallest amount of dirt on the floor. Mopping capability is even worse. Wish I never purchased. $350 down the drain.

Best purchase of 2025!
The media could not be loaded. Just get it! I put off purchasing this thing for 3 years and I have been missing out. This robot is an incredible time saver especially if you have little ones. The size is perfect and is able to get all the corners and tight spaces that is hard to access with a broom or mop. The app allows you to control the vacuum away from home giving you an indescribable feeling of joy when you walk into your home and the floors are nice and clean. There are a few cons within the mopping system but customer service is quick and efficient. If you are debating just get it.

Life changing for a pet owner
This vacuum has literally changed my life. I have two cats and could never keep up with the shedding build up throughout the week. Vacuuming every single day is exhausting and we were also sneezing a lot because we let it go for a few days before manually vacuuming. In comes the shark robot vacuum to save the day. Our respiratory systems have thanked us every day since and our floors and carpet are basically spotless every single day. Sure, we still have to vacuum ourselves every once in a while, but the amount of dirt and hair buildup this thing can PREVENT is incredible. Get it! I will never regret this purchase .

App is useless
I’ve had this vacuum cleaner for almost a year I think, and at first it was great. The vacuum itself still works fine, but the app is completely useless. After connecting my robot to it and mapping my house, the app worked for maybe a month or two. Now it refuses to connect to my WiFi, which means I can’t use it to send the vacuum to specific rooms. That was pretty much the main reason I wanted a robot vacuum like this. Overall, it’s still a decent vacuum, not fantastic but helps out. The self emptying dust bin is good, the vacuum easily gets over the thresholds between rooms and it does a good job navigating on its own. But if you’re looking for something with a reliable app, this isn’t it.

This item is horrible. It doesn’t vacuum or mop well. It doesn’t go back to the charger. It gets stuck on furniture. It’s garbage!

Don’t get this unless you love babysitting.
Seriously the worst robot vacuum I’ve owned. I’ve tried iRobot, random brands from Amazon, and now this Shark. Unfortunately I am outside of my return window or else I’d be returning. There is no rhyme or reason to this vacuum. It does not avoid obstacles. The app is LOUSY. Very loud. I liked the idea of not having to think about cleaning for 60 days, but now I’m stuck babysitting it because it climbs over everything, gets stuck, and will just continuously clean the same area over and over again. Save your money and mind and choose a different brand.

Great RoboVacMop !
5-Star Review for Shark Robot Vacuum The Shark Robot Vacuum has truly exceeded my expectations! Its dual ability to vacuum and mop is a game-changer, making it a perfect all-in-one cleaning solution. The navigation system is impressively accurate, efficiently covering every corner of my home without missing a spot. Another standout feature is how quiet it operates—it’s so much less noisy than other vacuums I’ve used, allowing me to run it anytime without disturbing anyone. The companion app has great potential and could improve by offering the option to set different cleaning schedules for different days. However, this is a minor drawback compared to the overall performance of this incredible device. Shark has nailed it with this vacuum—5 stars all the way!

We were sent a very used vacuum – still had dirt / animal fur inside the device. Very clear that this had been used and returned – and not checked before being sent to me

3 German shepherds
I’ve owned this for about a year. And I am disappointed, it’s “made for dog owners” but maybe not 3 German shepherds, the hair gets stuck in every crevice of the machine. I previously owned the Amazon DeBot and it was much more easier to clean the hair out of but didn’t mop or self empty. The shark does its job, but it’s a 50/50 chance that’ll I have to clean it out bc of Error # whatever and won’t self empty. I think if the hair wasn’t as long and as thick I would be happier with the product.

Irrevocably Breaks when it gets dirty
So, I will admit that I was happy with my shark for the first 6 months or so. Then it started having a problem that has “bricked” it. About 2 months the ago I noticed it wasn’t doing its normal runs every other day. I see it has an error that says clean under the round shark logo”. It doesn’t really have anything to clean under the logo, and the logo piece does not separate from the robot, but I do my best. I also buy compressed air and try to clean that was. It doesn’t work. I remove and clean the parts you can remove and clean. It still doesn’t work. Then I go online to see if I can find help. Everyone who gets this error is going crazy because telling you to clean under a part of the robot that doesn’t detach is idiotic. People detail experiences spending hours on the phone with Shark customer service to no avail. People toss their “bricked” and useless machines, or send them back. I then clean the machine again, re-pair it, go back to factory settings and all I have is a piece of junk taking up space. If you want to waste your money on a machine that breaks from the thing it’s intended to clean, by all means, this is your product. But if you don’t want to waste your money on a piece of garbage, DO NOT BUY THIS!

Works great!
Had for six months now! Took these two 70 year olds a bit to set up but is best think we have gotten! It learned our complex open pattern 3 bedroom house quickly. Does great job on animal hair, cat and great Pyre! Push a button and away it goes! Filters on base unit work great but need periodic wash! Comes back to empty or recharge as needed! 5 star good!

Not worth the money
Cheaply made. Too light. Bounces across the carpet and leaves debris behind.

So far so good
Got it on sale for Black Friday. Wanted to upgrade my old one with one with some upgrades. It had no problem mapping my house. App is pretty easy to use. I like that it has different clean options. It picks up the dog hair great and so far no clogs! I wish the app showed the complete path it takes when cleaning like my old one did, but it’s not a big deal just a preference. Battery life is the only con. It sucks battery power like crazy.

More efficient than I imagined

Its a Shark that cleans. You wont be disappointed
The Shark Robot Vacuum is an impressive combination of durability, affordability, and cleaning effectiveness. Built to last, it handles daily cleaning tasks with ease, consistently delivering a spotless home. Its price point is competitive, offering great value for a high-performing smart vacuum. I have it programmed to run in the middle of the night daily. Never gets stuck, never fails to do a great job. One of its standout features is its ability to transition seamlessly between different floor types, including rugs and hard floors, without any hiccups. Whether it’s pet hair, dust, or debris, this robot vacuum tackles it all. If you’re looking for a reliable and efficient cleaning companion, the Shark AV2501S is a fantastic choice! It will get dusty from its journeys around your home, so she needs a wipe down once every few weeks.

The battery and constant logins
I like that the vacuum does well with the mapping feature. It does not hold battery well at all and takes an extreme amount of time to charge. Oftentimes, it makes me sign in with my email and password, which feels ridiculous for an appliance and not a banking app. The height of the dock makes it difficult to stow the appliance in a less conspicuous location. I also wish there was the option to map different floors in the home without deleting previous maps. We live in a 3 story home and have no desire to buy 3 of these. I should be able to move the appliance without having to do a full reset. There is one more feature I love on this Shark, and it is the ease of removing hair from the beater bar and access to maintenance within the vacuum itself. This would be good for a person in a single-floored home and a constant place to charge. I think reducing the height by 3-4 inches could be a game-changer for them as one could store it under a couch or bed.

Worked in the beginning
I think maybe I got a lemon. I bought this in February of 2024 and it worked good for quite a while. The last couple weeks it had been setting it’s own schedule. I could never get the map to work well either. Now it has disconnected itself and because of physical restrictions I am unable to get down on the floor to even attempt to fix it.
Coffee with Books –
I really wanted this to work
Pros: Easy to set up Mapped the house and displayed the map. Easy to schedule cleanings Easy to deeper clean a specific spot Bagless Decent battery life Rolls over transition pieces in doorways and onto lower pile carpet. Cons: It worked well for 3 days then quit. The technician at Shark indicated a “program error was not fixable”. Solution: Only call tech support at Shark. We returned the Shark to Amazon. I recommend buying the three-year warranty. Many of the reviews complain it worked well for about a year.

I wouldn’t recommend the mopper
I’ve been using it for a little over a month, twice a week. Today, I wanted to refill the fluid reservoir, but the lock button came out. I discovered that the lock was broken. Look for something more solid.

After 2 years I’ve decided I hate it
I bought this on sale and thought it would be an upgrade from our roomba that was on its last mile. It’s not. The roomba despite its many issues still out vacuumed this unit. It’s weak and has a lot of app issues that keep resetting. I’ll eventually get another roomba

Super small batter and high maintenance robot
I was excited to receive this vacuum/mop robot as a replacement for my 6yr old roborock. The shipping was fast and had great packaging. I downloaded the app and recharged the unit +24 hours before launching the scanning and 1st cycle. It took x3 full battery charges to clean my house “single floor” 1,800 SqFt. The mopping is the worst, the liquid container is minuscule and manually re-filled 4 times to complete 1 full mopping all around the house. I also tried “vacuum” only at lower power, the unit ran out of battery 3 times, and each charge is 4hr long pause as the unit had to fully recharge in order to resume the cleaning. You need a separate robot to take care of this robot 🙂 For now, I will stick with my old Roborock.
Ashley –
Love the vacuum but the app is horrible.
What’s the point of mapping and zoning if you can’t schedule the zoning? Or choose the route for the bot to go when sending it MANUALLY because I can’t just schedule a specific room. The bot doesn’t feel like its mapped out a house when it is constantly hitting a wall and goes down a hall the opposite direction of the room it was sent to. The “complete” review is also farce, it will say it takes 65 minutes to do a matrix clean, dock itself after 20 minutes and show that it completed the clean. Or it dies during a clean then rather than allowing you to cancel it it will randomly continue the clean at 2 am. The cleaning itself is amazing, but 3 stars because it’s only as good as its weakest link and the app SUCKS.

Fantastic Little Robot Vacuum
We bought this during the 2024 Black Friday sales event. We previously owned a model from a different maker, but that one was a simple “bump” style that we had tired of over the last couple years. We wanted to try a smarter type that could also self-clean, so when this popped up on offer we took a chance and bought it. We have three large dogs that constantly shed, as well as two cats; all are inside pets. We have hardwood floors throughout the house except for the bedrooms, so the plan was for this little guy to handle the hardwood floors while we vacuum the carpets with a standard vacuum cleaner. I haven’t had the chance to do an actual mapping run of the house because we are still in the process of moving in and there are boxes and other items in various areas that haven’t been put away. I’ve only let the little fella roam on his own without mapping, but I hope to have everything put away (or mostly put away) by the end of the year. So far our little robot has done a great job on the hardwood floors. He picks up way more than the other robot vacuum ever did. It’s amazing to watch it dock and empty itself into the base station, then get back to work all on its own. One great feature is how it cleans the brush roller. I’m not sure how it does it, but it does a great job. It does leave some hairs behind on the roller right in the middle when the metal support lies on the brush cover, as well as at the edges of the brush where it attaches to the motor. I wasn’t surprise by that and it should be expected since those areas aren’t easy to access without removing the cover and brush roll from the machine. The hairs came off super easy by hand, though. It was far easier to remove them than with the other vacuum robot we owned. The base station holding tank would probably last 30 days in houses without pets, or with one small pet; however, with our 5 pets it filled up within a few days of running 1-2 times per day. I checked it after about 6-8 days of running and it was quite full. It might have been able to run for another day or two (maybe longer), but I didn’t want to risk it and was already heading to the rubbish bin anyway, so I went ahead and emptied it. The one frustrating thing I’ve found so far is the tall foam filter in the base dumps dirt out when you lift it out to clean it. I discovered that when I was emptying the base for the first time and decided to pull that out to give it a quick clean. Fine dirt just kept dropping out of it while I walked to the front door, leaving a trail of dirt behind. Now I know to only remove that when either outside or above the trash, both of which require lifting the base and taking it somewhere else. I can live with that slight inconvenience since the robot does so much work for me otherwise. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase. I suppose there are more expensive options out there, but this one is fine for our needs. I MIGHT update this review once I have the little guy map the house and start doing fully automated runs.
