The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Dont Buy this product , broke down after 4 months
my wife begged me to buy her this shark vacuum cleaner with mop . My house is fairly large and she needed the help. i bought it at Amazon and it worked fine in the beginning , however after a few months, the pieces started to come off then. later on , it would not work at all. I called shark customer support they said they would send a replacement in a few days, i waited 2 weeks, i checked with FedEx, they said that, however Shark sent it to the wrong address. I called shark customer service, they said i would receive the replacement in 48 hrs. I waited and nothing was sent . My wife began to get annoyed, at me , with no vacuum. I called shark customer service again and asked for supervisor , who treated me like crap and could care less, the guy had no regret or remorse, and told me basically its too bad , this is holiday season, ” i dont know when yo will get the replacement 10 or 15 days . The supervisor showed no sympathy. My opinion, look for a different product , vacuum company shark sucks, they will leave you pissed off.

Horrible
It says it works great with pet hair; it does not. I changed brush rolls to new ones and now you can’t put guard on over brush rolls or it stops it and throws error. I should have bought a roomba.

AV2501S AI Ultra Robot Vacuum: Cleans well but cannot schedule individual rooms
This review is for the AV2501S AI Ultra Robot Vacuum. 4 stars: cleans well but cannot schedule individual rooms and cannot set high traffic zones. Setup was easy, add the sweeps, tell it to explore and it mapped the house well. It’s quiet enough when vacuuming but the base is fairly noisy when emptying the vacuum, but that only lasts a few seconds. Shark’s own videos for the AI series tell how to map high traffic zones and schedule by room(s) or zones with the app. But not all AI series have this capability. This model doesn’t and this isn’t clear in product description. It will only schedule the entire house. Also, Amazon’s review section apparently lumps multiple models’ reviews together. So, between Shark’s video and Amazon reviews I thought this model had this feature. If it was up to me I would return it and but my wife likes it well enough and we’ll keep it.

Decent Hardware Marred by Subpar Software
My wife and I really tried to make this robot work for us – but it just isn’t a good fit. Half the walls in our house are at a 45 degree angle and the Shark software just cannot work in those conditions. Speaking of the software, the app is a mess. Refreshing information from the bot takes more than 10 seconds, so clearly all this communication is going through Shark servers and they can’t handle the load appropriately. During the first cleaning the robot stopped to recharge, and I could not get it to cancel the cleaning job. It resumed at 2am, and any time I tried to stop it, the bot would keep going. The next day I tried to use it and I couldn’t start a new cleaning because it still had to finish it’s old cleaning. After a week of continuing that cleaning – it was still the same story. I had to factory reset the device and remap my house to continue using it. Speaking of mapping, because half my house is a 45 degree angle, the robot didn’t even register that some of the walls in my house exist. On top of that, there is no way to rotate the rooms that you add, which means I had to spend a lot of time merging small rooms together to try and get the angle of the rooms correctly. Wouldn’t be a problem if your house is all 90* angles, but it was really frustrating for me – especially after having to factory reset and re-generate the map! As far as navigation goes, the robot has everything it should need to move around the house intelligently, but fails to actually do so. There is a lot of bumping and scraping, and this robot is being sent back with some extra paint that it pulled from my walls. Hardware wise I’d give the Vacuum 3 stars. It sucked in both good and bad ways. It picked up a lot of hair and scrubbed some spots off the floor. The worst things were the battery life and the button to release the dust bin. Since day 1, the battery took almost an entire day to charge, and wouldn’t last long enough to vacuum mop only part of my 2000sqft home. The last straw for us was when the vacuum started releasing its own dustbin while vacuuming our laundry room. The button to release it is on the top, and our laundry machines are the perfect height to push it down. Altogether, we are not a fan of this robot. We’ve replaced it with a roborock that’s $100 more on sale, and the experience with that vacuum has been a breath of fresh air. This Shark would probably be much easier to live with in a home that has all right angles. It’s certainly a step up from robots that bump around all the time, but it’s not that big of a step.

One star is too many
Absolute junk. Full battery, base and robot with power, app downloaded, and robot wouldn’t map or vacuum from the app or by pushing the button. Immediately returned after seeing all the posts here and elsewhere about it being junk. Went back to a Roomba (highly recommend doing that instead of buying this).

Works well and surprisingly gets over things and travels back. Impressive little worker. Extends your deep cleans if you keep your floors clear regularly. Easy to program.

Not impressed
It does not detect anything in its path and just knocks things over. I’ve lost a couple Xmas decorations already. It’s constantly stuck on a thin rug. I tried to talk my husband into returning it. He says he likes it. He’s not the one always having to find it and restart it. Waste of money.

Error 18 & Customer Service
After having the Shark for about 5 months, it started to constantly get Error 18 in places that it has never had an issue running before – floor vent, tile transition, edge of a rug. It gets this error 5-7 times when it runs and the app doesn’t notify me, so I had to stop having it run while I’m at work because it sits in place until the battery dies. The worst past is that if I knew it had the error, it would resume just fine with a click of the resume button. Customer service wants to see it do the error on video, even though they can see the pages of errors in my app, which means I’ll need to sit on a call with them while following the robot around and waiting for it to get to a spot where it usually errors. The sound quality of the calls with customer service is also horrible, which is frustrating for trying to answer their questions. I’ve yet to find anyone online that says they’ve managed to fix this continuous error at home. They’ve all had to go back and forth with customer service until they received a warranty replacement.

Works good but has one thing I really don’t like
Cleans great, but it has to have a wifi connection to run the schedule I’ve set. Very aggravating because I use a hot spot on my phone with limited data. So I guess I just have to walk up to it and click clean when I want it to run. Would be much better if I could set it using blue tooth.

Ok, lacks some features
I got tired of replacing my iRobot Roomba every year because it would stop working in someway or another and decided to try a shark. I got the self emptying dry (no mop) model. Unfortunately, the 2500 series models do not allow you to Schedule cleaning specific rooms. It’s all or nothing unless you activate it manually. That was one of the features I really wanted to use so I’m disappointed to lose that. The 2800 series and above apparently offer that, as I learned when I called Customer Support.

Pick up stuff off floor and move charging cords prior to starting
I LOVE this robot. It saves me time and I had no idea that my normal once a week vacuum with my normal vacuum was not enough. This thing comes back with lots of stuff daily. I’m still doing a deeper clean once a week, but this makes my home clean in between. No hair flying around. Dust is way down now too. The first two weeks it will pick up stuff that’s been missed for a while so, don’t freak out that your house is filthy. It’s just normal for the first week or so. I have 6 cats. I keep little rugs under the bed that stay covered in hair. After two weeks it’s all gone. The robot comes back with just the daily amount of hair, which isn’t much anymore but enough to know my home is much cleaner than I was keeping it. Shop around. Don’t get the refurbs. I’ve sent 3 back already. The new one is registered straight to Shark and all is well so far. This thing is a dream. Get the one with three brushes. Two side spinners are the way to go. Best thing I’ve bought myself ever.

Disappointing Performance – Not Recommended
I had high hopes for my Shark robot vacuum, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The cleaning performance is truly disappointing. It misses dirt and debris, even in open areas, and struggles to pick up pet hair or crumbs effectively. Instead of saving time, I often find myself going back over spots it failed to clean. The navigation also feels random and inefficient. The vacuum frequently bumps into furniture, gets stuck, or seems to skip parts of the floor. It often needs intervention, which defeats the purpose of a “hands-free” cleaning device. For the price, I expected much better performance and reliability. Sadly, I would not recommend this Shark vacuum to others looking for a quality clean.

DO NOT BUY ! Piece of junk !
HORRIBLE DO NOT BUY , only had for a few months and the front bumper somehow cracked and now vacuum won’t even turn on to go , crazy for the amount of money spent on this vacuum that’s supposed to have all these great features yet the vacuum runs into everything it possibly can , so disappointed ! I only bought this at the end of July ! Vacuums should work way longer than that especially a shark and for the price !

I would love to leave a 5 Star review
Had this vacuum mop for about four months now and ran it twice a week since and I loved it up until recently. It has 3 water jets that apply the mopping solution and last week two of them stopped working. I called Shark customer service to see if there was a solution. The rep, who was awesome no complaints there, walked me through possible solutions but we were unable to remedy the situation. Actually the third jet stopped working during the call. I was informed that I would need to buy a new tank attachment for $38 because it is not covered by the warranty. I only had the thing for 4 months! I voiced my displeasure and was put on hold and they came back with $16, I voiced my opinion once more and was on hold again and they finally said they would send it for free but next time I would have to pay full price. They took care of it but 4 months? really! Just something to be aware of.

Disappointing
Was hoping to have better performance since my other shark vacuums have been great. Even with mapping the mop goes over carpets and not just thin carpets thick carpets. Also will do one swipe in an area and then the next thing I know it’s in a different area of the house doesn’t even finish a room. I wish I had tried to use it sooner so I could return it.

Older version is better for hair…
This version has the comb moved from the removable cartridge to the unit itself…. what does this mean??? It means if you have pets like i do or a wife with long hair like I do that you now have to remove the roller and cartridge to clean the hair out. The last shark we got the comb being on the cartridge meant I only had to pull the cartridge and clean it over the trash can. This one I have to preform surgery to get the vac working again. I do love the laser as it doesn’t ram into furniture and walls or hang up on our dog blankets hanging off the couch.

Didn’t work straight out of the box, Shark wanted to charge me shipping to fix their issue
Received this vacuum but it took a couple of weeks before I had time to work through getting it set up. Set up the base, downloaded the app, and started mapping the house – all seemed to be working fine. Unfortunately the mapping process continued to stop and I got the “too close to a cliff” error #7. Over the course of the past two weeks, I’ve spend countless hours in my spare time trying to troubleshoot the issue but none of the solutions on Shark’s webpage or in a general internet search worked. I finally had time today to call Shark and work through things with them. After 45 minutes on the phone, they landed on me needing a new unit – which would be covered under warranty but the shipping would not be. I’m sorry – your product never worked correctly out of the box and you want me to pay more to get something that *might* work? Try again. The person I spoke with was able to get approval for me not to pay shipping, but it will be 2-4 weeks before I’ll receive the new unit. Of course, my biggest mistake was spending so much time trying to fix the issue instead of just returning the defective item immediately as I’m now out of my return window. Super disappointed in this company and this whole experience. Praying the new unit works when I finally receive it or else this was a super expensive mistake!

Cleans well
1 month review. This thing cleans very well, and is very quiet even on the “high” setting. The reason i give it 3 stars is because the app sucks balls. Editing the “no go” zones never works. One location is fine, add two more and they all disappear. I am unable to register the device via the app as well. Again, robot seems to be great, App sucks.

Can’t get parts from Shark
Worked great for the longest time, gave up trying to get branded parts from Shark to replace filters, rollers etc then worse, it suddenly declared something jammed in roller. Checked, nothing. Put back together and it would not work. Replaced roller and it started working but something is broken inside, a loud grinding clicking noise. Turns out that the mechanism for the roller brush motor is broken and Shark won’t supply the part or do a repair. In fact their websites just circles back to buying their latest model. I wouldn’t buy another, sure the self emptying was convenient but the set up process was a pain, it list the robot multiple times requiring complete starting of process. These days you can find it on sale cheap, less than $80 sometimes which is the only time I would buy it again

Love it! 🥰
This is by far the best robot vac I’ve had. We have three dogs, A Cane Corso and Mini American Shepherd they both shed and I run this vacuum daily and you wouldn’t even know we had dogs at our home! I also love that it is a 2 in 1 a Vacuum and a mop!🤗 worth the money💯

Works well, But could use a couple tweaks
This vacuum has made a fabulous difference in my life! We have three dogs, two of which are Great Pyrenees mixes who shed EVERYWHERE! We run Elmer Fudd (chasing rabbits) every night. However, we have to empty the dustbin everyday or so. It’s supposed to be a 30-day collection system. I knew we wouldn’t get 30 days, but I expected more than two. If you could go 30 days before emptying this little dust bin, You probably don’t need a robot vacuum in the first place. The other little issue is that it keeps getting hung up on the floor grates in our old home. You can’t fine-tune the “no go” zones well enough to avoid them, but it only happens every couple days, so not a big deal. All in all, it’s worked well for us in its first couple weeks.

Shark Customer service??
Called customer service multiple times because robot would not recognize our network. Finally got through to a human. After multiple attempts to get the bot to recognize our network, he gave up and ordered me a replacement bot. Received the order number and details in my email. The next day I received an email stating that my order had been cancelled on their end because of lack of product. They wanted me to call another customer service number to discuss the issue. I messed around with the bot some more, rebooted our router, rebooted my phone and refreshed the pairing of the bot. It finally came to life and is working now. Just be prepared if you have an issue that needs to be resolved with customer service. It probably won’t happen.

Gets lost, and very short battery life. Worthless.
Its ability to vacuum is good. However, as a robot it is worthless. I first bought the Shark 2360. I was impressed with this, but it had to come back to the base and recharge once or twice to finish our house. This 2501 promises 3 times the battery life (120 minutes vs 40 for the 2360), so I “upgraded” to this model. Not only is the battery life shorter, but 60% of the time the unit just runs until the battery is dead, at which point it sits and silently whimpers, so we have to go find it. I reported this to Shark Support, but never received any response.

No suction/ intermittent charge
I have a golden retriever so we have a lot of hair. This vacuum worked great the first couple of times, then started charging and disconnecting constantly. Everytime it lost the charge it sang its little song. So we were hearing the little tune every 5 minutes or so, and have to unplug the unit. The hair is constantly wrapped around the brush and only a little actually gets sucked into the vacuum. Doesn’t seem to have any suction on carpet and rugs and doesn’t pick up any debris. It is leaving messages to clean its brush. When it goes from the hard floor to a rug or carpet, it leaves a trail of dog hair on the carpet from the brush. I have cleaned/ replaced all the filters, brush, and parts and nothing helps. Very disappointed in this vacuum. A huge waste of money.

This is one of the worst things I’ve ever bought
I had such high hopes for this to clean my kitchen. But by the time I sweep the debris out from next to the counter, because the machine doesn’t reach that far, and put water on the things that need to be mopped because this machine can’t handle hardened stains, and constantly have to go back-and-forth and baby it because it has error messages all the time, I could’ve been done my floor myself 40 minutes ago and been much richer.

Stopped working after only 2 years
Bought our vacuum in July 2022 and have (for the most part) loved it. It definitely requires regular maintenance, but is worth it for regular cleanings. Out of nowhere it stopped working, saying there’s a suction issue. We’ve cleaned all filters out, cleaned the wheels, and unhooked the battery for 24hrs with no avail so we called customer service. It was MAJORLY disappointing that the resolve they offered was to buy another vacuum at 30% off. This was a $500 vacuum at the time of us purchasing it. It should have a lifespan of longer than 2 years, and if it doesn’t, Shark should be making right what’s wronged. Would definitely NOT recommend purchasing this. Please find a company with better customer service.

Great unit, but needs retro brushes
This is a great robot vac! Gets up more dog hair than my Shark regular vacuum. Problem is the brushes. It only comes with a single brush per side, but that’s easily fixed by getting aftermarket brushes that have 3 per side. Makes a big difference. I have a German Shepherd and they shed like they’re gonna go bald. I run Artoo every morning and while it takes him 2 shots to get the bottom part of the house done (1200 sq ft) I like him. Just have to start his process very early in the morning. I’m giving 4 stars just because of the factory brushes and the battery life. Wish it had more fuel to do the whole thing in one pass.

Worth The Money at the Lower Price
Straight up, I like the Roomba better. But I got this one for about $260 and I don’t like the Roomba that much better. I think the Roomba has better brushes and sweepers (i.e., rotating brush for edges) and it does a better job of cleaning right along the walls. The Shark does a good job of mapping out the floor it’s on and hits everything. I really like that if it doesn’t get the whole floor done on one charge, it recharges and then goes back to finish the job. It’s also quieter than the Roomba I have. The price on these has gone up $100 since I bought mine, so I’ll wait and see if I get another one for my last remaining floor or if I go with the Roomba based on $$$.

Not Sure Whats Wrong With It.
I would love to say it’s a great vacuum,,half the time it doesn’t work right and it is not pet friendly. I did buy the pet plus 2 in 1 vac and mop. It gets clogged often with pet hair and doesn’t pick up half the hair. Now,,I do have two German Shepherds that we brush often and yes we pick the lose hair up and let the VAC do the rest and I have to blow it out and clean the hair off the roller,,when it is supposed to be the NO Hair Wrap UP. I would love to speak with someone about the problem but I don’t want to stay on the phone for hours.

Robot doesn’t have a brain
This robot vac-mop is horrible. It cannot tell how to go around bar stools, says the mop pad is attached when it’s not, says the fluid resivor is empty when it’s not. Doesn’t finish or even start cleaning a room when it says it did. Takes forever to recharge. I was excited to have this vac-mop combo but with all the headaches and time it takes I would have been done sooner doing everything by hand. Don’t waste your money.

I love this vacuum/mop. I regret that I waited so long to order it. I have it scheduled to vacuum every day at the same time and let it mop the floors twice a week, due to having two dogs. Setting up “carpet”-areas was the hardest and most annoying part of the initial set up but other than that, it takes so much stress off my mind and my dogs don’t seem bothered by it which is a big plus! So far it never got stuck anywhere and I would say we have a lot of obstacles in our home!

No! No! No! Not 5Ghz Compatible and Needs Further Testing Not Ready for Prime time 2501 AI
First the information on this website is incomplete and misleading. This device does NOT work on a 5Ghz network. Second I spent hours trying to get the vaccuum setup to work. Mine arrived with no brain. I kept pressing the purple button to create a map but mine couldn’t seem to remember after chirping at the end of its run that it had just mapped my place. I called customer support and they were very nice but ineffective at resolving the issue. After deleting and reinstalling the app, offloading and deleting and reinstalling the app and having the silly thing run around five times I decided enough was enough. I sent this back to Amazon for refund.
