The stars speak of…
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
I’ve had this inverter for over 18 months now. No issues. It runs everything. I have four outlets wired to it in my tiny home and a 2500 w water heater. It easily runs chargers, coffee machine, water heater, 3.1cf refrigerator, 40″ Tv, and a blender all at the same time.
Inverter has M8 terminals coming out the back. The cables supplied have M10 or 3/8″ lugs. So, budget for properly sized cable lugs, or new cables with proper sized lugs. Or cut the M10s off and crimp on properly sized M8 or 5/16″ lugs. With the level of max current that can flow into these things, a proper connection is paramount for safe and efficient connections. Personally, as a retired Electrical Engineer I”m not comfortable with using oversized lugs on smaller terminals.

Q&A Corner: Shedding Light on Your Questions
What is a pure sine wave inverter and how does it differ from other types?A pure sine wave inverter, like this Renogy model, converts direct current (DC) from a battery into alternating current (AC) with a very clean and smooth electrical sine wave. This type of AC power is very similar to what you get from the grid and is compatible with all AC electronic devices. It is different from modified sine wave or square wave inverters, which produce a more stepped or squared-off wave that can cause issues with sensitive electronics or produce more electrical noise.
Can I use this inverter for sensitive electronics?Yes, this Renogy inverter outputs a pure sine wave, which is ideal for sensitive electronics such as laptops, medical equipment, and TVs. These devices function best with clean and stable AC power, which this inverter provides.
Is this inverter easy to install?Renogy designs its products with the DIY user in mind, and this inverter is no exception. It comes with a detailed instruction manual and is meant to be user-friendly. However, if you are not familiar with electrical systems, it is recommended to consult or hire a professional to ensure safe and proper installation.
What kind of battery bank do I need to use with this inverter? This inverter requires a 12V DC battery bank to function. The capacity and number of batteries you’ll need depend on the energy consumption of the devices you wish to power and for how long. It is essential to ensure that the battery bank you use is capable of handling the power demands of your intended load.
Can this inverter be used for off-grid solar power systems?Absolutely, this inverter is ideal for off-grid solar power systems. It allows you to convert the DC power stored in your batteries (from solar panels) into AC power that can be used by household appliances and electronics. It’s a crucial component for anyone looking to achieve energy independence with renewable energy sources.
Does this inverter come with a warranty?Yes, Renogy typically offers a warranty on their products, although the length and terms of the warranty can vary. Please check the manufacturer’s documentation or contact Renogy’s customer service for the specific warranty information for this inverter.
How do I know if the 3000W capacity is enough for my needs? To determine if the 3000W capacity is sufficient, you’ll need to calculate the total wattage of the devices you plan to power simultaneously. Ensure that the combined wattage does not exceed the inverter’s continuous power rating. For devices with high starting power requirements, like refrigerators or pumps, take into account their surge power, which this inverter should also be able to handle for short periods.

This thing works!!
I purchased the progressive Dynamics 2000w inverter this week and it wouldn’t do what I needed it to so I order this one and it’s MUCH BETTER! I just bought a new jayco travel trailer that came with solar and some garbage batteries so I swapped out the batteries for 600ah lithium smart batteries and can power out air conditioner! This was half the price of the other and we now have ac WITHOUT shore power or generator. I figure we can run 10 straight hours with no sun but we’ll probably only need a couple of hours a day. The next step is a few more solar panels to keep the batteries topped off daily. I’ve only had my camper a few weeks and this transition is awesome! I will update if this fails or any issues I run into

Separates Are Viable .vs. Combined
I *also* own a Renogy 2kw combined charger/inverter. That unit has an internal 30A transfer switch and is very fast to change over. HOWEVER, it has two serious issues: 1) The fan is on a LOT even when just charging lightly and 2) it has to be “on” to charge the battery bank. So this, plus a separate converter-charger, means (1) you move the plug from shore power to inverter when you need to. Or does it? Well, maybe not, if you are willing to run the same way. The reason is this: This unit is SILENT except when under pretty heavy load. So if you have a converter/charger that can deliver the amps you could turn this on whenever you have shore or generator power, the converter is on, and your plugged-in things are on this all the time. This is basically 15 amps of output (as is the 2kw all-in-one) but the transfer is manual — other than none at all if you leave it on all the time when on shore or generator power. Is this viable? IMHO, yes, because the quiescent draw on this thing is only about 1 amp or roughly 12 watts. You can’t leave it on ALL the time when there is no charge as obviously 1 amp will kill your pack BUT if you have a charge source 1 amp is not much — and you silent operation except under heavy load. If your converter/charger fan is thermostatically controlled…. there you go. The biggest issue I have with all the integrated ones, whether Renogy, Victron or anyone else is noise level. This doesn’t matter if the unit is not in inhabited space and far enough away that it doesn’t matter, but if it IS in inhabited space then it really does matter quite a bit. No idea on reliability but it absolutely does put out the 120V, its sine-wave, and at least under light loads the fans never come on. Someone should figure out how to have ambient cooling except under heavy load and essentially be silent in something like the Victron MultiPlus (or equivalent Renogy) units, but until they do if noise is a factor separates win for that reason, along with charge being independent of the inverter being turned on.

blown fuses
On first install the inverter blew 80 A fuses which saved the battery. Amazon closed the return 30 days from sale so I may be out 109 dollars. My mobile solar installers were not avaialbe until today. If I cannot get a replacement you have all been warned about the quality and return process.

So far so good
Used for off grid camper, set up with 400 watts of renogy panels with the Rover 40amp controller. Powering 2-100 amp lithium batteries only used a few weekends and so far I like it. It powers a cell booster and entertainment system

Keeps shutting off every time you plug anything into it, the ground fault wont allow you to use it!
This thing keeps shutting off every time I plug into it, it wont even turn on my led lights without the ground fault tripping in it! I tried for two days to get it to work, you can plug in the TV and DVD player and the second you turn them on it shuts down the inverter! I have two other 1500watt modified sinewave Jupiter inverters from harbor freight powering the cabin and they work great, tried this inverter on the exact same connection that those other inverters run on, and this Renogy can’t even turn on my lights without shutting down! I own 8 Renogy solar panels and two of their charge controllers they have worked for two years, but this Inverter has problems! USELESS DON’T BUY THIS INVERTER

Bad customer support
After installing it ifound that the remote switch didn’t work. I contacted customer support and after a couple weeks they finally agreed to send a new remote. It took over a month for them to send the new remote and they sent the wrong one. Now I’ve been trying to get a response from customer service for weeks now and no one will respond. Will not buy renogy products again.

Renogy 2000-Watt 12-Volt Inveter – LOUD FANS Low Quality Parts and Poorly Designed Heat Management
The fans are EXTREMELY LOUD when they come on, and if the Renogy 2000-Watt 12-Volt Inverter is placed anywhere near a living space, the noise won’t be tolerable. The inside of the unit is a generic build, and the overall design is poorly oriented for dissipating heat from the power transistors. There are two major sets of power transistors that are connected to heat sinks and one of these sections of power transistors caused the interior of the case near that section to discolor from high heat due to poor control over the airflow in that section. It is clear that the power transistors and heat sinks are not positioned properly in relation to the cooling fans, and this compromises the heat management of all of the transistors. Volfvert’s 4000-Watt 24-Volt inverter is much quieter when its single, large fan comes on, and it is nearly the same size and weight as Renogy’s inferior 2000-Watt 12-Volt inverter. I see that Renogy has decreased their price for this 2000-Watt 12-Volt inverter by about 20% from when I bought mine some 16 months ago in November, 2022. This price decrease is likely due to many customer complaints. I also bought a Renogy 40-Watt MPPT Charge Controller around the same time and it continues performing most excellently.

Poor wire retention, no strain relief
Obnoxiously small underfit wire terminal for what they claim should be used for Your Heavier Loads. These are frequently used in mobile systems yet appear unsafe! It would be far too easy for wires to pull out of the truly tiny wire clamps. No room for ring terminals on a no.10awg wire. Internals appear to be fed by no 16 awg not appropriate gauge. I had to open up back and fabricate a strain relief mechanism to prevent wire pullout. Pulls about 15 amps without load. Remote switch fed by phone type connector that sticks out the back not the side of the quite large switch. So you cannot tape or screw switch to a wall! Have to fabricate a backbox and coverplate instead. They need the wire to exit on bottom or side, not the rear! Unhappy spending so much for name brand that appears ill designed and of questionable conductor sizing.

i buy only renogy and here is why..
i bought this thing because i have renogy solar panels and i love the company. i was not dissapointed with this either. its super quiet, has 2 outlets, relatively small for what it is and thought its not be super hot outside i have never heard the fan turn on yet! it sips power and doesnt go through it like my other pure sign inverter.. and i think the 1000 watt is the perfect size for MOST people.
P. Ellison –
Extremely reliable!
YES, it will feed a Victron Quattro system because the power is SO clean. BUT had disconnect the GFI Mini Board inside the inverter. A simple disconnect of the mini board communication cable and put screws back in and it fired up immediately. There is a Youtube video of a person showing how to disable it. I followed those instructions. 2012 6.7L Stock F350 Dully Can push this to 15-16 Amps before the Inverter will let you know the voltage is slowly dropping. If I installed the 2nd Alternator I’m sure I could keep it as the full 2000 Watts continuously. I use this to charge my 100% Victron Power system in my 43′ 5th wheel when I am moving between campsites. Never have to turn the AC or Hot water heater off!

I haven’t been able to test this at full load but at intermediate loads it seems to work well. I the construction of the unit looks good and it appears to be high quality.

Works well
I paired this up with a uninterruptable supply switch and 100A-hr deep cycle battery to create an emergency power supply in my home. It is permanently connected to my gas stove fan for uninterrupted heat. I have a power strip that would easily allow me to connect my fridge, tv, or anything else.

Does not come with right sized wire
Renogy says in one area that it comes with 2 #4 jumpers, and in another area that it’s 1/0 awg, which is not what we get. #4 wire is too small. If you use 80% of rated wattage it’s 1600 watts÷12 volts it’s 133 amps, waaay undersized. We need the 1/0 to avoid fires, buyer beware

Compact and powerful
With the same size footprint as smaller units the 3000 puts out enough power to run my shops tools daily. I run a business where getting power is too expensive. This is the best alternative to monthly bills.

Great Choice for my Camper Van Build
I purchased this for a camper van build. So far it has worked great. There are a few things to consider when purchasing a power inverter. First would be size. Look at the components that you intend to use and make sure that you choose an inverter with adequate wattage. For my van this inverter powers my induction cooktop and is also wired to two standard electric outlets. My cooktop requires 1800 total watts which seems to be pretty standard give or take. Second thing that was important in choosing an inverter was the remote on/off switch. Inverters are going to be drawing power from your battery any time they are turned on regardless of if you are using them to power devices or not, so you do not want them on all the time. This inverter has a nice looking remote switch that I added to my master switch panel as seen in my second photo. The reason this was very important is because my inverter is located inside my storage area and is not easily assessable. The switch comes with plenty of wire to run it anywhere in the vehicle and has an indicator light to show when it’s switched on. Third would be noise level. All inverters have cooling fans and some can be very noisy. This inverter has a very quiet fan. I doubt I will ever be able to even hear it running from the cargo area. The inverter has a sturdy steel mounting plate on the bottom that is visible in my first photo. All things considered I am really pleased with this purchase. The inverter works well and was well designed.

Awesome and easy
This is my first time setting up an inverter. Everything was straight forward. We’ll packaged and protected. Hooked it up last weekend. We have a weekend trip scheduled in March can’t wait to put it to the test. Next steps will be solar/ and lithium batteries.

Read me
I paid what I paid I hooked it up. I plug something into it and it worked. Longevity of life we will only find out in the future. I bought what I bought I got what I got. I’m not complaining and I don’t know the true value of it yet. But it works so far.

Missing key pre-capacitor charging-hookup in Manual
Great product once I figured out why it would register a failure when connecting it to LiFEPO4 battery, BMS in battery. Called customer service and Peter figured it out the problem. Then he recommended a solution. PRE-CHARGING the capacitors with a resistor during negative wire hookup. Thank you Peter! This needs to be placed in the manual.

Customer Service 💯
After weeks of back and forth with Renogy customer support trying to determine the cause of my new inverter shutting down while loading normal appliances, ie. coffee maker, A/C, they finally sent me a new one. Turns out the problem was an in-line fuse I was using on the positive cable coming from the battery bank. Hats off to Renogy for all their support. The product works great now and runs everything I need in my RV!

Nice Inverter.
Installed this in my 195RB Travel Trailer to power two outlets. Have other Renogy products and they all work great.

Zero tech support, product does not work in an RV.
I purchased two versions of this product: this one, and the 2000W 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter with Power Saving Mode (New Edition) direct from Renogy. Both failed when installed in our travel trailer, likely due to the ground and neutral being bonded internally. The only support (so far) is from an offshore call center who clearly know very little about Renogy products and are just reading off a script. My recommendation: avoid Renogy like the plague.
Very weak construction. Made with metal as thick as a soda can. –
Does not work
No quality control. They ship trash.

3000W Not properly made, power live all the time
The unit provides the stated power. Problem is both original 3000W unit and replacement are live and inverting power all the time. The on/off/remote switch appears to only control LED display lights. Picture shows utility light plugged into inverter and shining with power switch off. This flaw prevents the use of 12v power in my RV unless connected to external AC shore power. I cannot use my DC operated appliances while dry camping or towing down the road even with solar panels and lithium battery bank. Customer service is helpful, but 2 of 2 units so far have this problem. Previous brand of inverter worked correctly.

Very good quality inverter!
This is a very nice and good quality inverter. I regret not buying the 3,000 watt version but this should serve us as emergency power source. We coupled it with 2 of their 12 volt batteries and portable solar panels. All of equal quality as they advertised. Follow the instructions and we wiired it all in. One word of advice, a heads up…when you connect the battery or batteries for the first time to the inverter BE PREPARED for a SPARK & POP when you connect the last cable from battery to the inverter. No nothing wrong, it’s the capacitor in the inverter being charged up for the first time. There was no mention of this in the instructions and I had forgotten from past experiences. (Amazon has a capacitor you can buy and put in line when you first hook up final cable to reduce this, but you can just be prepared for it and have it over in a second.). Buy the inline switch, cables, etc. all online, it’s easier and stay with same brand products as that really works best. We are very happy. If in doubt about hooking it up yourself I really suggest hiring a professional to do it for you. A happy customer.

Works good
It wires right in, & no shortage of pwr. Renogy suggests grounding it, as Ithen did. Works fine..

Test!! Out of box fail
Connected everything- turned on fan spins up with red light. No load. Removed AC connection and verified input voltage at 13.6V – same problem. Removed all connections cycled power and installed inputs- same problem reset and tried again with heat gun plugged in for load. Again same problem.

Waist of money
Purchased for a Christmas gift. Got around to installing this past weekend and the inverter did not work and of course to late to return. Just don’t waist your money like I did. Now I have to order another from a different company.

Terminals Different
Terminals are different than what is depicted on site and compared to another same model inverter. Positive and negative terminal locations are swapped. Returning for refund.

This inverter is badass!

Dependable power
I have a pellet stove (ComfortBilt HP22) for my main source of heat. During a recent ice storm, the power was out and the house was uncomfortably cold. This 2000w inverter can provide more than enough power to the demanding self-start mode of the stove and run it for as long as my battery bank is able. It is a relief to have a reliable backup plan. The inverter power output is steady and pure. No signs of intermittent sputtering or sluggish operation from any of my electrical loads.

Silent Edit
Not a sound coming from it so far so good. Well it crashed 2 weeks after purchase and gives audible warning with a 300W load and shuts off fairly pathetic to say the least.
Georgia D Schwartz –
Works perfectly
Got a big solor panel and new batteries . With the 1000 Watt inverter we can run a 40″ TV with no generator needed.

Improperly sized cables come with it, buyer beware.
Personally, as a retired Electrical Engineer I”m not comfortable with using oversized lugs on smaller terminals.

inverter me this.
out of 3 of this current model, I was only able to have one that stayed working more than a few days before it would alarm out. returned 2. the oldest one i have is still going fine. i will not be buying another renogy inverter. they are not reliable. replaced it with a hobo freight special.
