What’s Good, Bad, and Ugly About the ? An In-Depth Review

The product in question, a pure sine wave power inverter, seems to have garnered a positive response overall from users. One of the standout features of this inverter is its ability to drive single-phase AC motors without the buzzing noise commonly associated with Modified Sine Wave (MSW) inverters. As one user, BatteryKing, mentions, the inverter “works fine with this inverter, no buzzing” and is capable of handling the initial starting load of the motors and the subsequent electrical noise without shedding the load, which is a significant advantage. Additionally, the inverter is well-suited for powering electronics, with Eric noting its compatibility with solar panels and sensitive equipment such as computers and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).

The build quality of the inverter has also been praised, with several users, including Amazon Customer, commenting on the durability of the metal casing and the effectiveness of the built-in cooling fan that only starts running at higher temperatures, thus conserving battery power. The ease of installation is another pro, as pointed out by Robert M., who found the included remote control to be a handy feature for overnight off-grid camping.

Furthermore, the inverter has been recognized for its versatile power output options. SolMan636 appreciated the inclusion of a remote for operational flexibility, while Rich was satisfied with the customer service that promptly resolved an issue with a faulty remote. Moreover, the low idle current draw, highlighted by P. Meyer, is especially beneficial for off-grid applications, ensuring that the inverter doesn’t significantly drain the battery when not in use. The product also boasts advanced safety features, as XennialLife confirmed, such as short circuit and over-temperature protection, enhancing its reliability.

Despite the positive aspects, there have been some reported drawbacks. One user, Rockinggrammy, found the inverter underpowered for their needs, stating that it “would not run an 800w coffee maker,” leading to their return of the product. This points to potential issues with the inverter’s capability to handle certain appliances. Additionally, ProAudio expressed disappointment after the inverter failed during a camping trip, which not only ruined their experience but also brought to light concerns about the product’s reliability over time and under continuous use.

Another point of contention is the split-phase configuration, which may cause some confusion regarding the neutral to ground bonding. As BatteryKing explains, the inverter reads at 60V on neutral and hot leg, leading some equipment to indicate an “open ground” issue. Although this is typical for the inverter’s operation and not necessarily a defect, it could be misleading for users who are not familiar with electrical systems.

In conclusion, while the inverter has demonstrated strong performance and a high degree of user satisfaction, especially in terms of its ability to run motors quietly and power sensitive electronics, there are some isolated instances of underperformance and reliability concerns. Prospective buyers should consider their specific needs and the potential for variability in performance when deciding on this inverter.

Review of Voltworks 2000W 12Vdc Inverter VS-2000PCR. Out of the box the inverter seemed to work well although I was limited to 100A out of the battery and therefore never reached the 2000W limit, nor was I able to test it on a large inductive load for the same reason. When I connected the remote panel to the inverter I found the remote panel to be highly intermittent but the inverter continued to run just fine. I could not tell if the problem was the cable or the remote causing the issue. I contacted the Voltworks support email address and described the problem. Voltworks promptly responded within a few hours and within a couple days they had sent me a new remote and cable. The new remote worked fine and by switching things around I was able to determine that it was the original cable that was causing the problem. Voltworks was very responsive to my emails and I couldn’t be happier with their customer service. I hope to have a second LiFePo4 battery one of these days in order to do a “proper” load test on the inverter.

I have a fuel station with a 120v pump. All my equipment has quick connects for winches, inverter, jumper cables etc. The pump runs around 1200W max as read by my kill-a-watt. book says 1500 max for the pump. Seems to work well

This is written shortly after installation of the 1,500W pure sine inverter. I have done some digging to try to get a better understanding of the nuances of this inverter. This in the USA market. Something to understand about this inverter, which research says is a common case, is this inverter is most probably a split phase inverter. So say you are using this as backup power. Utility power in your home has 240V in a split phase configuration. So when you use a 120V leg, you have 0V neutral bonded only at the main breaker panel to Earth ground, 0V Earth ground, and 120V on the hot leg you are using. This inverter reads at 60V on neutral, 0V ground, and 60V on the hot leg. Some equipment you may be wanting to feed this backup power to from the inverter as well as power outlet testers may complain about the lack bonding of neutral to ground bond for a 120V circuit, claiming that it is “open ground”. However, this is normal operation for this inverter. If the grounds are properly bonded as per the instructions that come with the inverter, then everything should be OK. The understanding I got from the manufacturer is if you try to bond neutral to ground is you will likely create a short and can cause damage to equipment. My assumption is this goes to the point of my theory that this is actually a 60V + 60V split phase where each phase is referenced to ground, not floating. So if you attach a wire from the neutral pin to the ground pin, you complete the circuit as in short circuit the device, which is bad. From the literature I have read, this is a common case with power inverters, but it is good to check with the manufacturer, which I did ask. One of my big goals with this inverter is to drive single phase AC motors. This works fine with this inverter, no buzzing. (MST inverters will cause motors to buzz and get super hot, so thus why pure sine is important.) Actually, you don’t really use the whole 1,500W most of the time for this use case because most of this extra inverter capability is to just get one of these motors started and then handle the electrical noise from one of these rather primitive motors. An inverter closer to the rated power of one of these motors will get overwhelmed by the starting load and then electrical noise while in operation and shed the load. This inverter is doing the job without shedding the load, so success. A secondary goal is to drive electronics. The previous inverter had GFCI outlets on it. However, as I got into powering electronics as a second use case with the inverter, this didn’t seem like the hot setup. The electronics can create small currents on the ground wire that then cause the GFCI to trip from time to time. Something interesting though is if you want an inverter that tests as ‘good’ for site wiring, GFCI inverters end up passing these site wiring tests where the same tests fail on this inverter. i am not worried about this though as electronics can take 120V power, 208V, which is two phases 120 degrees out of phase out of a 3-phase system, and 240V split phase. 120V split phase is like the 240V split phase, but at half the voltage. So in theory, the electronic equipment should be fine. I suppose one thing is you don’t want to drive a big single phase AC motor and sensitive electronics at the same time. One reason you don’t want MST driving electronics is it creates a lot of electrical noise in the power supplies for the electronics and even cause your electronic devices to glitch up. So then you say this is fixed with a pure sine inverter, which by itself is true. However, if you are driving a big, primitive motor like this, it is generating a tonne of electrical noise and then you hook your sensitive electronics up to the same circuit, you are back to square 1 with glitchy electronics again at best. At worse, you have overloaded the inverter again with these two loads and it sheds the load. Other things like a lamp with 2 prongs, the wiring should be well insulated inside of the lamp and so should not matter. Most 2 prong devices have the same size blade, so they don’t care at all which side has voltage on it, so both should not be an issue. I am a fan of theory of operation as it plays out to real life usage and safe operation of the device. The product literature skimps a little on this, but I think I have been able to piece the picture together so that I may use this inverter and not end up with unwelcome surprises. So far in real use, it is doing the job as expected.

I paired this great inverter with an Ecoflow in my Prius camper. I can use this to AC charge the Ecoflow FAST, about 8 times faster than I could my old Jackery so I hardly have to run the car anytime to charge my battery power supply for cooking, electric blanket etc. The Ecoflow needs pure sine wave, and my old inverter didn’t work for AC charging. No problem with Voltworks! Puts out the power with no strain! The remote really helps by giving flexibility with the operation and location of the inverter mount. Highly recommend!

    FAILED INSIDE OF 10 DAYS.

Very disappointed. The build quality appeared very good. Ran full load tests prior to taking a sheduled camping trip. I ran 1800 watts continously with 175 amp measured using 200 amp lifepo4 battery for over 45.minutes. Quiet cooling fan. Very little case temp… warm to touch, not blazing hot. Went to national forest dispersed camping on our trip. Turned on inverter to supply 120 vac to rig for powering 2 small fans and the television. Inverter ran about 25 minutes and then went into fault mode alarm. Could not get it to reset even after removing unit from DC source. It was cold. Voltage on battery was 13.55vdc. Pretty well ruined this trip as it was 85 degrees and fans were an absolute necessity. We could live without TV and microwave but not having cooling fans or my cpap was not acceptable. We moved to county park with shore power the following day. BTW, I used no. 2 marine grade pure copper fine flex stranded/ insulated wire for DC source. Length was 5 ft. Perhaps I got the ” one in a thousand” defect unit, I don’t know. I can only tell you that I am so thoroughly disgusted with the electronics coming out of CHINA. All crap it seems. I had sent back 2 inverters last year dead on arrival. I have a modified sinewave 1000 watt inverter that is literally 28 years old that works fine still. Unfortunately I didn’t bring it along as a backup for the trip.. Very very disappointed with this product. I will probably end up with Victron at price that I am really not wanting to pay.

Voltworks was very responsive to my emails and I couldn’t be happier with their customer service. I hope to have a second LiFePo4 battery one of these days in order to do a “proper” load test on the inverter.

    Works great! And super quiet

The media could not be loaded. I installed this 2000 Watt inverter in my travel trailer. So far, it works great. I’ve used it to run my microwave, 2-way fridge, Starlink and laptop. The inverter has been very quiet and even under a decent load stays cool. It’s well made and I would absolutely recommend this brand. See attached video for a walkthrough of the inverter. As an FYI, when in “idle” mode with no load it consumed ~.5 AMPS.

power button is momentary, not a real switch

Update: idle current == 400ma This is shockingly low and I’m suspicious but it was measured using a Trimetric amphour meter which is known by me to be quite accurate. Even when turned off however there is still some current draw to power the usb charge ports and the processor that monitors the on/off switch (which is momentary). I have not measured that and I would not be surprised if it were as high as 300ma which would push this unit up to the claimed 700ma. I will update this once I’ve tested that. No matter, 700ma of idle current for a 1500 watt inverter is *extremely* good which is why 400ma makes me suspect my methodology. I’m very impressed with this unit, everything about it has exceeded my expectations. The only awkward thing is trying to mount the remote control panel – that requires a rectangular cutout in the panel it’s mounting in. Original: All metal case, good sized studs for connecting the 12v, the supplied cables are short but good sized, it even came with vibration isolation feet. I bought it used but it and it’s packaging were pristine. I have not verified the .7a idle current but I’m hoping that’s right, it’s important in a small offgrid cabin. I did power it up enough to run a coffee grinder as a simple test. I am especially pleased that the maker provides detailed specifications right in the listing and that was a big part of why I chose this one. Way too many vendors do not.

Backup safety high-quality power inverter to protect my family!

The media could not be loaded. I Moved to Florida and used this last year during our power outages in the storms. I love how high quality this is and the 15-foot remote controller is convenient and easy to use. This has short circuit protection and over-current temperature protection to ensure safety! This power inverter is very powerful and comes with 3 AC outlets and USB ports. Not only does this 15000 W provide true sine wave power but it also is great for powering your gameplayer, car vacuum, camera, TV, phone, fridge and etc, in when an emergency, hurricane, storm, snowstorm, and outage anywhere AC power is needed. I love the built-in cooling fan and it’s very quiet, You can’t even tell it’s on and running and the cooling fan will not run when starting up the inverter, it will only start running when the temperature reaches 104 F or load over 800W. I’m super happy with this product and it makes me and my family feel much safer in storms knowing we have this as a backup!!
