#4 Wire is inadequate
Unit is functional in testing, but comes with 1 set of 2 (+/-) #4 wires for connecting to battery. If unit is truly 2000W, that is 166A (@12v). This wire can only handle 75A. Plus, they are only 3′ long, which severely limits where you can put the inverter (needs to be really close to the batteries). Renogy ships 2 sets of 2 (#4) wires with their 2000W inverter. Google 200W inverter wire size and you will fin 2/0 or 2 x #4. Just spend $100 at H-D for 2 sets of 8′ lengths of 2 x #4. Thats how they keep the price down… buyer beware!

I bough the unit primarily for my wife’s CPAC machine when no 110v power is available for the camper. So far it is reliable and had not issues. I haven’t maxed it out and don’t plan to. I have plugged it into the camper 110v system, flipping off the camper converter breaker. Works well.

This well-built inverter needs a PROPER install. Must add on/off switch. I used (Amazon’s $14) Ampper Battery Switch, 12-48 V Battery Power Cut Master Switch Disconnect Isolator for Car, Vehicle, RV, and Boat (On/Off). Add to install: Spartan Power Black 2 Foot, Battery Cable (Amazon’s $17) Negative Only 3/8″ to complete the installation. After research, I went with a premium deep-cell battery (Amazon’s $200).

Makes Coffee
Let me start by saying I’m not going camping anywhere without coffee! After having several travel trailers and a 5th wheel, I am now fixing up the back of my RAM 1500 SLT for dry camping. With Coffee as a priority I started research on the best practical way to achieve it. My conclusion was an inverter and an electric Kurig. I read the instruction then hooked up the inverter to the battery I have in the back. Voilà… I have coffee. Worked like a charm. Next I’ll try a 700 watt microwave.

Easy to read input/ output displays, works w/ RV 6 volt batteries in series
This company is great to work with. I bought this unit in June, 2022 and installed it in a closet inside RV trailer to run C-PAP machine while not connected to any shore power. Of course it has enough power to charge phones, electronics or the microwave as well. The unit worked great, but after I set up the trailer to haul our two cats with us, we wanted to be able to watch the cats as we go down the road, so I installed a baby monitor camera in the cat’s area. First time we went to transport the cats, the camera would shut off after 2 minutes. I discovered the inverter had an auto shut off feature in the software, that if it was outputting under a certain small voltage it would trigger it’s auto shut down. I then contacted the company via email. After several emails back and forth, the company decided to send me a brand new unit free of charge, as the new units do not have the auto shut down. Probably a lot of people were upset that if the inverter was charging electronics or phones it would shut down so they revised the software on the new units (2023). A few days later, I received a brand new unit in the mail. I took the old one out and installed the new one, and it works perfectly and does not auto-shut down with low voltage output. Imagine how excited we were to watch the kittens from inside the truck while going down the road! Gotta make sure our furry kittens are OK! I’m now going to install the old inverter in an outside compartment so that I can plug the main trailer power into the inverter when dry camping. I just have to remember to switch the converter off at the breaker. We haul a generator with us to re-charge the house batteries, but you can’t run that generator at night, and that’s why this inverter is mission critical to everyone getting their sleep and not just me. Great product, great company to work with for customer service, 5 stars.

Overpriced Doesn’t function properly
I purchased this for emergency power during Hurricanes, mainly for a modern refrigerator. The loads are between 350 at start up & 170 running watts. After 20 minutes the fans start running at full throttle every 30-45 seconds for about 5 seconds. This should not be overheating with such a load. The fans are very LOUD, would propably drain your battery fast. BAD design. Some of the critical reviews do mention this. The LCD display is inaccurate, all data is off, quite a bit.

Tv Luces, ventiladores, una Aspiradora , lavadora . Freezer, incluso una olla multifuncion de alto consumo..! No solo Soporto sin problemas toda la carga sino que se mantuvo con un voltaje entre 112 y 115 V de salida. Trabajando a una temperatura normal encendiendo su ventilador sobre los 500 wats de consumo. Ya son 5 los inversores Ampeak 2000W que hemos comprado mis amigos y familiares y todos trabajan diariamente.A veces durante toda la noche cuando ocurren estos molestos apagones. Great inverter for a reasonable price
I bought this inverter for the solar shed that I just finished building. The inverter was easy to install and works as expected. The display screen is a nice added feature that shows the inverter input and output characteristics (including power delivered). The included cables are flexible and of high quality. The fan is a little loud but that’s not a issue for my application. I contacted Ampeak customer service to help with a slight issue with my inverter. They were really helpful in getting things resolved. Just be aware that your battery size may limit your ability to reach full power on the inverter. I have a single, 12V 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery that hits its current limit (~100 A) before the inverter reaches max power (~1200 W vs 2000 W). A second 12V 100 Ah battery in parallel would get me to fully power.

I specifically bought this to run a 8.8 amp 110 volt drill (968 watts). The tool tries to start and then fails and the unit states “short circuit”. I tried other similar tools, all less than 1000 watt rating with the same results so it is not the tool. Anytime something over 500 watts is tried it states “short circuit” and an alarm goes off. This project was going to entail only running the drill intermittently in short cycles, not continuously. However it will not even start with this inverter. I also tried this with the standalone battery (12.8v)and with the battery being charged by the alternator (13.7v) with the same results. Very disappointed. 1000 watts with a surge up to 2000 watts? Not with this one. Back to the drawing board…

Had this inverted installed. Went to power it on one day and it threw a really big spark and begun to smoke really bad about to catch fire… smells still lingering around… glad I was able to disconnect and remove befor setting up in flames… be careful y’all’s…mind you I didn’t even have it for a month…

Hit or Miss
You might get lucky and get a good one however, I’ve owed 4 of these, each has issues, such as fan is constantly running, and strange OPP errors all the time. Inly thing that isn’t temorimental is the cool packaging and appearance. Worst part IS TOO MUCH SAFETY FEATURES, features do NOTHING for the user, they only protect the inverter from damage.

Bought this to upgrade from their 1000w modified sine unit and what a difference. Much quieter and has enough juice to heat a small half liter kettle. Happy that they eliminated the auto shut-off function which is why I held off on buying this.

I use it for a hydroponic system with an automatic solar panel to electrical grid switch box.. this inverter is compatible with a switch box.. solar panels used from 8am to 6pm then it switches to electric grid.. steady stream of power no interruptions.. highly recommend

Works great with a regular car battery
I bought this to complete my set up of a Solar Panel charged Battery and a way to convert DC to AC to power my laptop and monitors for an extended period in case of an emergency. This Ampeak 1200W Power Inverter did not disappoint and my setup ran for 6 hours using an old 12V Car wet battery. Overall, this was a good purchase.

NO GOOD update
Hooked it up the first time and got “Overcool” message, despite it being 60° F. Emailed customer service, they asked what ambient temperature was and what my order number was, sent that to them and haven’t heard back…that was well over a week ago. I’ll go to Harbor Freight and buy something. DO NOT BUY THIS! Update. The company gave me a full refund, after a few back and forth emails. I can’t give 5 stars because it didn’t work properly, but customer service finally came through!

Loud Fan
It handles the load ok, however the fan is extremely loud. I cannot use it for the purpose that I intended it for because of that. The loud fan would not be a problem if used remotely. I knocked off 2 stars for that issue.

We’ve had a 200-watt off-grid solar system in our storage shed for several years to run some 12-volt lights. This year my wife is on hospice, lying on an air mattress confined in a hospital bed in our living room. No problem until we got a notice from Southern California Edison about a planned overnight power outage. Changing the air mattress (and compressor) for a standard mattress is possible but complex. This Ampeak 2,000-watt sine-wave AC inverter solved the problem. The Ampeak ran the mattress air compressor, the heating blanket, and all the bed remote control motors just fine. Altogether that’s only about 250 intermittent watts. But it met our needs. As I write the bed is once again powered by the Ampeak as we have yet another planned power outage overnight. FYI, Installation was super easy with the high-quality cables supplied. Also FYI it may be useful to know this Ampeak 2,000 draws about 2 amps at 13 volts DC when turned on but with NO loads connected. Guess that’s why the instructions say to turn it off when not needed. I did not rate the fan noise because they turn off when the load is under 200 watts and besides the Ampeak is in our shed some 100-feet from the house. Added info: Since the initial review above, we’ve powered a hair dryer and a Skill saw with the Ampeak 2000 and both worked just as if they were plugged into the usual wall outlet.

Inverter works great. Cooling fans are on the loud side but I had in an off grid solar shed so no worries. After 10 months of use running a small freezer it got real quiet. Fans stopped kicking in at 104 degrees Farenheit. Unit running at 140+ degrees. Contacted Ampeak and had a brand new unit in 3 days. They really stood behind their product.

Too much plastic
Main housing is just plastic made to look like extruded anodized aluminum case. No mention in the description that I could find of housing material ( maybe I missed it…) and would not of purchased this if it stated that. Will be monitoring heat dissapation closely when under full load.

Faulty 1200w pure sine inverter

Beware of parasitic draw with this inverter
I have confirmed that this inverter does in fact draw power when not turned on. .18ma Unless there is a way to avoid this, other then putting a switch between the inverter and the battery, I will have to return it. Otherwise it is a decent inverter.

Best inverter I’ve used
Love the display with all its data which shows info most others don’t. The fan is a little noisy when under load, but no biggy. 1200W is great, but wish they made a 2000W Pure Sine Wave.

EMI/RFI noisy
This may be a “true sine wave” inverter but the output waveform is riddled with high frequency hash from the internal process. This is noticeable listening to an AM radio or on the Amateur Radio HF bands. The hash can be seen on an o-scope trace as a high frequency square wave imposed on the sine wave envelope. It does though do its intended job as a temporary emergency power source until the backup generator is up and running. Attached are two pictures. The one with the cleaner waveform is from a MeanWell ISI-501 inverter and the one with the fuzzier, more stepped waveform is from the Ampeak. Both were running the same load when tested (a 50 watt shaded pole motor fan). No output filtering has been applied in either case – the waveforms are measured right at the outlets using an adapter.
