Breaking Down the Blue driver obd scanner: Where Do Its Promises and Pitfalls Lie?
User-Friendly and Comprehensive: The BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool is celebrated for its user-friendly interface and extensive features. As Michael points out, it is “so user-friendly” that it suits both novices and experienced mechanics. Additionally, he appreciates the inclusion of videos, notes, and an “excellent support department” that further enhance the user experience.
Accurate Diagnostics: Many users, like James Weathers, praise the BlueDriver for its accurate diagnostic capabilities. James mentions that it “has been able to scan without issues” on various car models, including a Mazda, BMW, and Ford. This precision in detecting and reporting diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) makes it a reliable tool for car owners.
Cost-Effective and Time-Saving: Adam C. highlights the cost-effectiveness and convenience of the BlueDriver. He shares that it “paid for itself in less than a week” by enabling him to diagnose and repair his vehicle without a costly trip to the mechanic. This aspect is particularly beneficial for users looking to save money and avoid the hassle of visiting repair shops.
Limited Compatibility with Certain Car Models: Some users have reported issues with the BlueDriver’s compatibility with specific car brands. For instance, Diego found the device “useless for Porsche or BMW” as it failed to detect basic error codes on his 2015 Macan and 2017 X6, which were detected by other tools. This suggests that potential buyers should verify compatibility with their car models before purchasing.
Incomplete Data and Missing Features: Ken A. notes that the BlueDriver provides “minimal sensor info” compared to cheaper alternatives. He experienced this limitation with his 2018 Volvo, where it did not display critical information such as transmission temperature and oil temperature. Users looking for comprehensive sensor data might find the BlueDriver lacking in this aspect.
The stars speak of…
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
I bought 2 ODB scanners from 2 different manufactures at the same time. ANCEL obd2 scanner was returned for refund because it couldn’t detect and report the 4 DTCs which the BlueDriver could. I’ll keep the BlueDriver. My car are 2013 Toyota Sienna & 2003 Acura TL 3.2.
The hubs has had this for quite awhile not used many times yet from what he has said he isn’t disappointed, said he’d buy again!

Irritating red blinking light
Whenever BlueDriver looses connection with my phone via Bluetooth, an irritating red light commences to blink, and blink, and blink. The blinking red light means it is connected and communicating with your vehicle, but has lost the connection with your phone. Every time I start my vehicle the light starts blinking red and will not stop until I physically open the app and reconnect… again. I have to do that every time. And to make it even worse, that connection will only last for a few miles before it starts blinking red again, at which point I reach down and unplug it. And there’s no way in settings to shut this blinking red light off permanently… and no way to automatically reconnect with my phone when I’m near the vehicle. And speaking of settings, there is almost nothing in there to set. I will be returning.

Love it!
This OBDII scan tool is incredibly small compared to the scanning devices seen at AutoZone. I had no idea it would be this compact! I love how simple the design is. It works with iPhone and Android, so it is versatile. It is perfectly easy to store in a glove compartment for easy access when needed. I have not tested mine on my car just yet, but I am excited to let the testing begin this weekend.

Very Limited for Chrysler Products
I have had a BlueDriver tool for several years now. It will get codes and basic OBD info from a variety of vehicles. If you just need to know the code, this will do it. However, my experience has been that it won’t interface well with Chrysler/Dodge products. I have tried it on quite a few vehicles ranging from a 2000 Dodge 1500 pickup to a 2013 Dodge Dart and several others. The BlueDriver will get OBD driveability codes but will not interface with most of the ancillary modules, does not show manufacturer codes, will not show most of even the basic data, and does not show any freeze-frame data. You could buy a basic code reader from Auto Zone that works better. I did try contacting the company once – they told me to try updating my app, which I did with no change. Basically, if you deal with Chrysler/Dodge/Ram products then this may not be the tool for you.

Easy and Fast Use
Car had a check engine light on and couldn’t get it into the dealership right away so I was leery of driving it. Bought this and after a minute of setup I was reading the error code. With the error code I knew it was still safe to drive the car and that it was covered under warranty. Has a lot of useful feature like saving reports and looking up sensor information. Also can look up potential recalls and maintenance schedule. Definitely would recommend this to family and friends.

Doesn’t read dsg gearbox ecu on 2007 vw golf
Is just another basic hyped up code reader, I had my car checked with a friend’s reader which looked the same but it could check evey module in the car, also playing with the bluedriver on a Mercedes e550 2007 it will not clear a code even though it says it has.

Junk product for $129!
The device triggered my battery management systems. The app is full of useless information about recalls and bulletins that you can get them for free online. The app is bloated with useless information. My $10 BAFX scanner and OBD Fusion app can do the same thing with more efficient and better user interface. DO NOT BUY.
