For years I have always purchased my vacuum’s based on “price”. For some reason I felt the more expensive vacuum was better quality I I WAS ABSOLUTELY WRONG !!!! – – It took this purchase of the Bissell® CleanView Swivel Vacuum to proved to me price means NOTHING. It is expertly designed – very easy to use – to empty – to clear the hose of blocks. All the parts click into place perfectly. The suction is unbelievably strong and the hose is nice and long so I can reach up to the ceiling with no problems. I THINK BISSELL DESERVES A THUMBS UP FOR THIS ONE !!!!!
I bought this in September 2024, and the drive belt broke in January 2025. Drive belts and filters are not covered under warranty. Given that these are prone to break, you would think the design would facilitate replacement – but no. Rather than a simple system without screws, you have to remove 7 screws to get to the brush area. In my case, dog hair had built up underneath the belt cover and eventually broke the drive belt. In the picture, the lime green plastic cover on the left is where the belt is. Note that you would have to remove the cover screws to clean the brush or even to simply check for dog hair build up. I bet the screws aren’t under warranty either, since stripping them is all too likely. Otherwise, I love how good a job this does pulling up Golden Retriever fur off the carpet. It is a shame none of the product designers considered whether it is simple to maintain.

This vacuum is GREAT! I have two cats & two kids so I do a lot of vacuuming. I have a Dyson Animal vacuum I was using and it wasn’t picking up stuff, especially litter or getting the hair off rugs. I was getting frustrated with cleaning it too. I ordered this and I’m glad I did! Made my carpet look new and really grossed me out how much it was able to pull up. I only see two cons: 1. The tube that connects to the base of the vacuum (so you can use it to suck stuff up vs vacuuming over the floor) comes off while using the normal vacuum setting. It doesn’t really fit on there well. 2. The cord often gets caught underneath the vacuum, and mine has been stripped a bit. This vacuum is really great overall. The attachments work well too, be careful as I caught my very very long hair in the pet eraser part haha (not fun but shows its strength lol).

I had been unsatisfied with how my current vacuum cleaners had worked on pet hair on carpets – I could NOT get my Persian rugs clean. The Bissell arrived yesterday (not long after I had vacuumed the rugs with my current machine). I put the Bissell together and tried it on one of my rugs – it filled up to over capacity in a few minutes! It not only got all of the cat hair, but also dust. My rugs have never looked so good. I’d say this model is a bargain!

Ugh not again
Bulky, heavy, hard to maneuver, died quickly (just like my last three Bissells which died the exact same way – officially done with Bissell) Bought less than 6 months ago and the company is now giving me a hard time to replace. In the past (less than 2 years ago) replacements were quick and service friendly. They would ask me for pictures and then would send the replacement once I showed proof I’d cut the cord of the previous, broken one. I didn’t appreciate having to replace a broken vacuum every few months but at least I wasn’t paying extra to replace (warranty) and I was getting the replacement quickly. Cut to this week: The vacuum all of a sudden while in the process of vacuuming starts smoking. Pictures show the soot and melted plastic. I checked, no signs something was caught in it, just like my previous vacuums which strangely died the same way. Quickly shut it off, called the company, and they told me I need to send the vacuum to them before anything can be done so they can assess it. I showed them the pictures but they insisted for the vacuum this time. I don’t live by a ups/usps, I don’t have a car, and it’s going to be a hassle for me to get them back this heavy af broken vacuum quite honestly. I asked if they have a plan B for replacements and they said no. I’m now debating if it’s even worth going through this replacement process as I’ll have to pay for an uber or lyft to even get the vacuum to ups and it may only last another few months again before I’m potentially repeating this replacement process all over again. For anyone debating this vacuum, I don’t recommend. I bought for dog fur and while I’ve gone through 4 Bissell vacuums in the last three years, my cheapest version robot vacuum is still going strong in the same amount of time. I also don’t think fur is catching and causing the smoking. Maybe carpets, idk? The vacuum did a good job at picking up the fur and I think I would see the fur/carpet when inspecting it if that were the case. My take: strong machine, super clunky and heavy, and short lifespan.

I was so excited to get this vacuum! I unboxed it immediately on 12/31 and put it together with ease. I was extremely happy with the suction as it picked up a ton of stuff that I didn’t even know was there! However, this may be because it’s new compared to my old vacuum that I’ve had for many years. The swivel took a bit of getting used to but I do quite like it. It does very well with picking up the dog hair BUT that’s about it for the pros. CONS: the hose is super short so the vacuum falls over when using the extension hose. I thought it was because it was new and the hose was tight but no, it does not stretch!! Plus, it is quite difficult to get the hose on and off. I was also really excited to use the pet hair accessory but that was a huge disappointment! I tried it on my bed but the roller stopped anytime I put it on a material service! The vacuum does not work on my shag carpet even on the highest level which was another huge disappointment. Lastly (I think), a ton of air blows out of the vents, and when you’re trying to use the hose near a wall it just blows everything around. I’m not sure if this is a defect of mine but I do not like that. Oh! I also dislike that the roller doesn’t stop when you’re using the extension hose! You have to make sure it’s not catching anything while using the hose so I had to lay it down while I was vacuuming other areas in my room since it doesn’t work on my shag rug. Annoying!! I will end up keeping it because it does well on my tile floors and is easy to use for the most part, plus the price is good, but I’m most definitely disappointed. =(

Great if you don’t get a broken one
This is a great vacuum if you don’t get a defective one. I replaced the last Bissel I had (purchased at Walmart for $45 a few years ago and was a great vacuum for how much it cost) with this one after reading reviews and my own personal experience with the brand. It had much better suction and got so much hair and dirt out of the carpet! I love the different attachments and features of it (the swivel head so you can get harder to reach places). However, after having used it about 5 times, the roller that makes contact with the carpet stopped spinning. I turned it off, was able to spin the head manually, turned it back on while it was still laying down and the brush moved just fine. When I stood it back up and the brush touched the carpet, it stopped spinning again and then started smoking. It didn’t seem to matter which pile setting it was on, the same thing happened with all of them. I was able to find an angle that made the brush lightly touch the carpet to get the rest of the vacuuming done but it was not as good of a clean. I really love this vacuum, but for the amount I paid, I should get more than 5 uses out of it! Otherwise, the unit feels durable, is fairly light for how much suction it has, cleaning stairs is a little tricky with the swivel function but is doable. Bissel, please fix the issue with the roller brush and this would be 5 stars!!

5 Dogs
This vacuum COULD cut my cleaning time in half, but I am obsessed with the extra attachments and so now I focus on every nook and cranny of my house. But as far as suction vs dog fur, this thing is the best! What took my old vacuum several passes to pick up, this thing does in 1 or 2. It doesn’t fit under furniture like my stick vacuum did, but that’s a sacrifice I am happy to make because of the overall performance. And, there is always the attachments which I are great for those hard to reach places. The only “negative” feedback I read and agree with is the stiffness/shortness of the hose. The machine does fall over a lot while using the attachments. There is not much give in its stretchiness. I have 5 dogs and didn’ think there was a vacuum out there that could handle that amount of fur, but this one does.

Hasn’t lost suction
We’ve had this vacuum for 3 years and it still works the same as when we bought it! We don’t have pets but my daughter and I have a lot of long hair which can definitely test a vacuum! My only complaint is the hose has cracked and we have to replace it. Thankfully that’s only $20 instead of having to buy a whole new vacuum because it’s lost its suction. (Which of course usually by now, a vacuum would have.)

Burned out belt and brush in 6 months
Very disappointed in this vacuum. Purchased in June and brush locked up and won’t spin and have replaced belts twice. Most recently, I ordered a brush (bar for base) that was supposed to fit this model but it’s too large. Every Bissell vacuum I’ve owned has lasted for years, but this one has been a constant pain. Going to order a different model today.

When I first got the vacuum, I was super excited because it did work very well. It can definitely hold a lot of dog hair before I had to dump anything out. There’s definitely a lot of suction power and I like that I can change from hardwood floors to carpet. I also like to use the hose and the tool specifically for dogs when vacuuming the couch. I used it often and it worked well until now… The hard part of the hose split on one side and now I can’t use the dog tool. The suction no longer works to where the tool can function properly. It doesn’t spin anymore and the air doesn’t go through the tool because the air escapes through the split part of the hose head. The vacuum is basically useless to me because I can’t vacuum my couch or bed with the tool. I can still vacuum normally but I bought this vacuum because I was able to use the hose and tool for the couch. Super disappointed… Wish it would’ve lasted more than 6 months which is how long I’ve had it.

BISSELL 2252 CleanView Swivel Upright Bagless Vacuum with Swivel Steering, Powerful — WHY IT RECEIVED THREE STARS The other problem reviewers had is not a nonissue and why I rated it 3 stars: The implement hose attachment length is too short. The attachment length is so short it’s virtually useless for vacuuming between the wall and fridge or other crevices. Seriously, the hard tube part where the attachments go is like 14″ long — lol. The longest you can get it is about 2 feet out of it Other than that, it seems like a really good vacuum. FOR THE PRICE, FIVE STARS Overall, I appreciate the engineering that went into this lower cost vacuum. You can easily tell where they cut corners, such as with a 27′ cord instead of 30+ feet and rather cheap plastic wheels. However, the canister is brilliantly designed and easy to empty and clean – it’s all washable too, even the filter. It’s much easier to clean than my 4 year old Hoover bag-less that just broke. That’s a good trade off, for me. The on / off foot pedal is at the bottom. That’s not such a big deal. But why? The other aspect that I found strange is that there is also a foot pedal to lower the arm down. Again, why? My Hoover didn’t even have one: You just move the handle down and it goes down. If you need the arm to go all the way down, then you need to hold the foot pedal down and lower it, which is awkward. However, the arm will go all the way down for flat use, such as under beds. Suction is great. It picks up a lot of dirt. One problem reviewers had was that the cord comes out of the bottom. However, there is a cord retainer at the top, so it’s a non-issue for me (see image).

so I bought this vacuum because of the reviews…. When I first started using it, it was great. Sucked up everything quick, easy, without an issue.. it was super powerful… after about the 5th use the vacuum itself burned to a crisp… the entire inside was melted, ports were blocked by burnt little tiny plastic pieces. It stunk so bad, it was smoking and the rubber belt inside the vacuum was snapped in half by the time I opened it up to see what was going on. I replaced the first vacuum w another and it did the same thing. I wouldn’t bother with this vacuum, total waste of money.

Lasted two minutes
I plugged it in and it started running without turning it on. I noticed it was loud compared to my last vacuum cleaner I turned it off. I then turned it back on and started to vacuum I got about 1 ft and it started making a loud noise and started stinking before I could turn it off it shut off by itself. I let it sit but can never get it to turn back on. Returning immediately and buying a shark which I didn’t have real good luck with but it was better than this. Making sure I get the extended warranty with these cheaply made vacuum cleaners these days.

Pets, pets, and pets!
I have long hair myself (which we know sheds), 3 fluffy dogs, 3 long-hair cats, and I frequently foster. No other vacuums will do. This is still going 2+ years in. I know I’m lucky to get even that much out of it with how much I use, so I’ll be over the moon if I get 3-4. I’ve yet to have any issues, but I’ll say maintenance is so, so important. I regularly (every couple/few months) change the filter (I use the febreeze ones designed for this), just to keep everything extra fresh/help reduce allergens. I empty the bin each room—partly because there’s so much fur that I have to, and partly because I just want to ensure I’m not risking clogging. Every 4-5 uses (about once a month) I check that the roller isn’t locking up from hair, and remove any tangled around it. I keep it away from my cats so they don’t chew/fray the cord. It might sound like a lot, but I promise it’s minimal effort when it comes to not having to replace a vacuum often. With this particular one, I do often have to reach up, inside the bin to remove the fur wrapped around the center piece when emptying, but it’s a small price to pay. It picks up all the pet fur, hair, and litter that gets scattered. I will often use the baking soda carpet refreshers as well, and it effortlessly picks up all the powder after letting it set for awhile. Suction is very strong, whether it’s the head or hose. Love not dealing with bags, and this container clicks in and out easily. The suction indicator works great for letting you know when something gets jammed. Other benefits are pretty middle-of-the-road.. even though it is loud, it’s not overly loud. It is a little heavy to push, but certainly not the heaviest. The carpet height controls are easy to use (some you have to force to change). Doesn’t take a lot of effort to roll, pushes easily. Cord is long and strong, but I do wish it was retractable. Perfect width to go between legs of my bedside/coffee tables, but the head doesn’t rotate a ton and it’s a bit height-y to get under low levels. Conclusion is that as long as you care for it, this vacuum will meet your needs, last a long time, and is great for pet owners.

I generally do not write reviews. I bought the swivel and it is a very powerful vacuum. Excellent price too. Giving it two thumbs up and five stars. One thing…..so powerful, make sure you always adjust proper height for floors or carpet.

Great vacuum. Easy to maneuver.
This vacuum has GREAT suction. It works great on carpet and wood floors. The attachments are awesome. It is easy to empty. My only complaint is that the power cord is attached to the bottom of the vacuum. I believe that is a major design flaw. I ended up getting a zip-tie and securing the cord to the handle.
