The stars speak of…
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
This generator is underrated and outperforms anything out there. It takes care of all my work needs and I don’t have to worry if it’s going to handle the load. The fit and finish are great and its easy to transport. I recommend this to anyone looking for an easy-to-use generator.
specifications were unclear, but reviewers indicated the remote start capability was included. When unit received the 12v battery bay was empty and no remote fob included. Apparently this variant is pull-start only. Not sure yet if they can add kit with capability or if I need to return the entire unit – but working directly with Westinghouse to address.

Well Built; Does the Job
After our power was out for several days following Hurricane Helene, we realized that we needed to buy a generator. After looking at a variety of brands and models, this is the one we settled on. Delivery was slower than I preferred, but it came the day before Amazon predicted. It was easy to put together — essentially, it involved securing the battery, connecting the electronic start to the battery, then charging the battery. My only complaints: 1. The battery compartment was so small that it was difficult to turn the battery into the correct position, secure the rubber strap tie-down, and connect the eletronic start. 2. I was puzzled for a bit about a DC charger that was included in the package. I could find nothing in the manual about charging anything. I finally found the charging inlet port and realized it was for charging the battery prior to use. 3. The manual would appear to be comprehensive, but instructions are not very clear at all. It’s as if someone who has used this generator many, many times had written it and assumed that end users would have the same level of familiarity. Even with those minor complaints, I am very satisfied with this generator.
Nadya Germanov –
Great power and a great size
I really like this generator. It started right up as soon as I filled in the oil and gasoline. It works very quietly. Enough power to power our trailer.
Dirk N. –
Works Great!
The generator struggled to start on propane when it’s 30 degrees F outside, but started right up on gas. I was then able to run the generator for a few minutes to warm it up, and then I was able to shut it down and start it on propane without any issues. Ran fine for over an hour with no issues.

Great inverter
Great lightweight inverter for my rv. Love the remote start and ease of running it parallel with my other Westinghouse generator

iGen4000 DFc weighs 63 lbs, has plenty of power, has electric start mode
Westinghouse iGen4000 DFc was delivered promptly. Opening the box, there was detailed product support information, user manual, info for product reviews, etc. All the accessories were neatly packaged: propane hose, etc. Best features of this inverter generator is weight is on 63 lbs and easy to move around as necessary and electric start along with pull cord start mode.

Seems great so far
After a couple of unsuccessful tries purchasing a different brand of generator and getting lemons, we decided to purchase this one. Right out of the box everything looks great, no issues, seems to work flawlessly. We’ve run it for a couple of hours to start breaking it in with no issues. Looks like it will work great for our needs!
HotRods4Ever –
As good as Honda, half the price (or less)
This is the 2nd one of these I’ve bought. Great quality, robust, starts up and runs every time, and quiet very close to as quiet as a Honda. Have bought for my Dad who’s a senior and myself. Would definitely buy again and recommend to others. Especially if you don’t want to pay for, or can’t afford a Honda.

Great Generator

Ready for the next bad storm…
We had a week of major storms the first week of June 2024 and was without electricity for 3 days. I ordered the iGen4500DFc for the next power outage. Setup was relatively easy, with a minor complaint. The oil fill neck is recessed, and while the supplied funnel works well, the dipstick is incredibly short and takes a bit for me to get it centered and screwed back in place. Hoping for peace of mind to keep a few things running the next outage.

Love it!
I got the dual fuel model and ran it for about two weeks straight waiting on power to be restored after hurricane Helene. Quiet at low power but running a full size refrigerator and other appliances the db jumps up like all generators so. I do question not just the claim on db level for this manufacturer but all manufacturers. Easy to start up and the value was great. This is a lot of well built generator for the money. Plenty of fuel capacity and not too heavy. I plan on using it camping too.

Solid Little Unit
I am very impressed with the build quality of this unit. I filled it with oil and hooked it up to propane to test it out. Runs well and ‘maybe’ a bit louder than I thought but not bad. It take a bit to actually get it started. I suspect it was jus a matter of getting the propane to work its way through for the first use.

Reliable and very well made.
Took it up to a Veterans retreat on a buffalo hunt in about 15 degree weather and ran it for about a week with no issues. Love the remote start and stop feature for sure. Very reliable and have also used it with power outages since then with no issues. Just remember to use ethanol free gas ⛽️. So much better on engines. Will do business with again.
RICKY LUNSFORD –
Everything it was cut out to be!
Packaged well and easy set up and starting. I’ve had several generators for work and this is smaller, lighter and still gives the same wattage as others.
Mark Jorgensen –
Well built.
Quiet with nice features. Appears to be well built. Bought to use with my camper but haven’t had a chance to use it for that yet.

Great inverter and love the dual fuel
Got here just in time for a trip we had to make and works great so far and really like the dual fuel and remote start capabilities. I had a smaller Honda that worked OK, but this one has all the features I was really looking for to power my RV when boondocking. Really nice to see exactly how much power is being consumed, engine hours, etc, and the ability to parallel if I ever decide I need more power, but I doubt I will. These inverters have come a long way since I bought my last one 10 years ago.
Cynthia R. –
Well made, thoughtful accessories, good instructions
Runs great, starts right up. Looks like a good quality generator. Good warranty. I knocked the rating down from 5 to 4 because it is a little noisier then i expected. However, this may be due to it operating in cold weather. The temp when operating was in the 30s. Hopefully it will be quieter when the weather warms up.
Martin Butler –
Good generator, good value!
I bought this generator as a backup power source for power outages and camping. Out of the box it started right up on gas, I changed the oil twice after break-in and after the 1st 4 hours no issues whatsoever. Ran propane to clear out the last of the gas, no problems. It’s pretty quiet, even under load, I have no complaints. It’s got a suitcase handle and wheels so you can cart it around with ease. Fuel seems to last a long time. I’ll update later on but this seems like a great generator and I’m very happy with it!
Captain Mateo –
Reliable name you can trust
Look no further through the reviews and Amazon. This is a fantastic generator and will exceed your expectations. Everything you need to get started is included (except fuel). Wait, a company sends tons of accessories with the product? Yes correct. Remember Westinghouse is named after the founder and father of AC power and winner of the Current War. How could you not get behind the brand and name? Don’t be put off by reviews of the 4500- that’s not this one. This one is new and improved with more features than you can imagine. But not overwhelming. So get off of YouTube and get to buying this. Started on the first push of the button and was so quiet. Seriously, just get it and try it. You won’t be disappointed. It’s so worth the peace of mind having a backup that works.

Small, but mighty!
I didn’t see many reviews for this model, but the specs certainly got my attention. And my neighbor, who after taking at look at mine went out and purchased the same model. Coming from a Champion 3100, this thing feels like half the size and weight. Sound is on par with others. The electric start tries a second time, which definitely helps if you shut off the fuel. A larger fuel tank would be nice, but it’s enough to get through the night, and remote start gives flexibility.
C L Lynch –
Easy to start and two fuel choices
We are very happy with our purchase. We selected this model for several reasons. It was highly recommended. It will be easy to start even as we age. And finally, it runs off of two different fuels. Our first and foremost reason for buying a generator was to be able to run a space heater. This won’t run all of our electrical needs, but it will keep us and our pipes from freezing.
Tim Junker –
Easy to Use
This product has been very easy to use and is all the power that we need. Not the most powerful generator ever, but gives the necessary power for the price we can afford. I use for emergency power outages, not RV.
Chris –
First Impressions Not Great- Not Super Quiet
The day I received the generator I unpacked it and started the break in process. I first noticed it sounds a bit clunky. It’s sputtering with little to no load on it. Fortunately some of that did go away the more it broke in but not entirely. And it’ll ramp up and get loud without additional load being put on it. This thing is NOT quiet. And I’ve only run it with 50% load so far. At one point with 25% load it was reading 84 decibels. That’s 10 decibels louder than my other inverter generator by a different brand that I’ve been using for 5 years. The remote start is great- when it works. It usually starts up OK but when it’s time to shut it off I have to go super close to it or the remote doesn’t work. I will acknowledge that it’s much smaller and lighter (by 40lbs to be exact) than my other generator with similar specs so that is a plus. But it’s kind of irrelevant if it’s so loud I’m a little embarrassed to use it. We boondock and camp a lot and that’s why we wanted it. * I will update my review if/when I hear back from the manufacturer*

Great Generator for My 5-th Wheel
We recently upgraded our RV and want to do more off-grid camping. I debated a long time on which generator to purchase. I wanted something strong enough for my 15,000 BTU AC unit and the propane option, while remaining somewhat quiet and compact. This one fit the bill. Upon receipt, I removed covers and inspected all connections, filled with the provided oil and connected the battery. After hooking up the propane, it started on the second turnover. I believe the regulator, hose and engine needed the propane to work its way in there. Our first few camping trips will not need AC this year, so the 5-hour break-in period of running at less that 50% capacity will work out just great. According to the numbers and other RV owners recommendations the AC should run just fine, if the startup draw is too great for the generator, I’ll install an AC Soft Start. I’ll update my review after the break-in.

Excellent with great features
Lightweight, high power, remote start, dual fuel, and reasonably quiet. What more could you want from a portable generator? This is the one you want.

iGen4000DFcv
Very nice generator. Very quiet. Compact enough for easy storage. Has enough running watts to power the essentials. Will come in handy for years to come.

Early reaction to a new product.
I am very mechanically inclined and have worked with several kinds generators. I have only run this new one about 20 minutes so far with a about a 27% load on propane. My purpose is for emergency household power and very occasional RV use. I wanted to upgrade from a pull-start, gasoline-only unit to an electric start, dual-fuel unit (gas & propane). I intend to use only propane to alleviate typical gas related maintenance issues. I downloaded the owner’s manual before purchase and read it completely. My maiden start-up using the electric starter motor on propane was amazingly quick, smooth, and simple. Works exactly as advertised. I don’t have much use for the remote start feature except for possible emergency remote shut-downs. I like the digital hour meter/info display. So far, I like everything about it. It is a hunk at 62.8 pounds for a 78 year-old guy but I concentrate and lift correctly and safely. Lot of power for the size and low noise level and safe for electronics with a pseudo-sine wave inverter. Time and use will tell but I’m expecting great things on nice clean propane. I will update if things go south. Read and heed the manuals and start up instructions. Especially page 15 re: connecting the battery wire connectors. It’ll save some head scratching it you don’t hook it up. Nowhere I’ve found does is it mentioned that it comes with an .8-am battery charger and receptacle on the control panel to plug into for routine charging the battery during storage. That’s a great feature and should be highlighted! I’m in love so far….

Great deal
This generator is the best, dual fuel, remote start…wish I would have bought long ago…
Ian –
I traded in our Honda 2200i for this and I do not regret it!
This is such a quiet, effecient generator. We had a 2200i and needed just a bit more power to run our RV AC when camping at high elevations. This machine is significantly more quiet than the honda even with a full load on it! The remote is a wonderful addition and the price was half what we paid for the honda! (actually was able to sell the honda, buy this and have hundreds left over.

Clear User instructions
Love the dual fuel ability of this generator and the fact that it only weight 65 lbs. Like the freedom that this generator will provide so that we can do more dry camping and still be able to run everything in the camper. I am very happy with this purchase.

I needed this after the last natural disaster that hit my country
Ordered this and checked it with me on my flight back to my country because the last natural disaster had us out of power for weeks. I only have 4 stars because I haven’t used it as yet. But everything looks great! There are slight cheaper ones out there but I stuck with Westinghouse because it’s a reliable brand plus I didn’t have to sacrifice any features I wanted. Will update when used.

So far, so good!
I purchased this a couple of months ago and have run it through a test. So far, everything is working fine and it had no problem powering my fridge, multiple phones, and a few small household appliances. I have not had to use this yet due to a power outage, thankfully, so I cant speak for use for hours or days. I’ve had power outages in the past and after having to discard food on multiple occasions due to my fridge not working, I purchased this to be prepared. I really like that it has a remote to start it and also that it can run off of propane. This makes it easy to store without having to deal with the odor of gasoline.
Mark M. –
Great features and light weight
Delivered on time and has the ability to use gas or propane. Electric start makes is super easy to get up and running. Lightweight so easily to move around and store after use.

Great power and a great size
This generator is quiet, has tons of power, and I like that I have the option of gas or propane, and a push button start. Very easy for me to use.

Performs as expected and delivers rated power to my home when needed during power outages.
