Shark SV1106 Navigator Vacuum with .64 quart dust cup capacity for extended cleaning

Product Assessment: The Gains and Losses

Many customers found the Shark vacuum to be lightweight and efficient. Its cordless design was lauded as a significant advantage, enabling easy maneuverability and convenience. “Light weight and suction is excellent. Easy to empty and NO BAGS!!” (Amazon Customer), wrote one satisfied user. Users also praised its performance on different floor types, highlighting its ability to clean bare floors and carpets effectively. The vacuum’s ability to pick up pet hair was another noted positive aspect. “This vacuum will go under most of my furniture and runs about 20 minutes on a full charge. I highly recommend this vacuum.” (Ed Dickison), a user remarked, indicating its flexibility and efficient battery life. Its quiet operation was another highlight, with users finding it less disturbing to pets. The vacuum was also described as easy to use, assemble, and charge. Its simple design and powerful suction were applauded by several users, “It’s nothing fancy but perfect for me.” (Patty M.). Furthermore, the vacuum’s easy-to-empty feature was mentioned favorably, reducing the hassle associated with cleaning the vacuum itself. The docking block was also cited as a unique selling point, enhancing its overall usability. “We picked this one over the cheaper ones because it has a docking block and the handle nicer than most.” (Ellen M Hart).
However, not all users were entirely satisfied with the product. Some found the suction to be less than ideal, especially when compared to corded vacuums. “I wouldn’t use this as your main vacuum as the suction is not quite like a corded vacuum.” (Kenneth Gunther), stated one user. The battery life of the vacuum was a recurrent concern among several users. Some expressed dissatisfaction over its relatively short operation time per charge and the long hours required to fully charge the device. “The vacuum is fine. Not great… It sits on the charger port, so it’s always ready to go which I love… I wish it was slightly cheaper.” (Stine Ocker). Other users experienced problems with the vacuum’s durability and longevity, with a few reports of the vacuum breaking down after only a few months of use. “Item isn’t working after 2 months.” (Jill Leibsker), reported one disappointed user. There were also instances of the vacuum spitting out dust and dirt rather than picking it up after a month of use. The vacuum’s performance with the wash feature was critiqued, with reports of constant clogging. This resulted in difficulties in cleaning the vacuum itself. “When using wash features it constantly clogged. Even though I sweep dry floor in advance. Difficult to clean. Had to rig a mini snake to clear” (Susan).

Ease of cleaning. Ease of use. Lightweight. Easy to clean. Super easy to assemble & charge up. It’s nothing fancy but perfect for me. I wish it was slightly cheaper, but it’s exactly what I wanted and membership in Amazon Prime eliminates any S&H charges … so if you’re on the fence, I say go for it. I’m 70, I live alone and manage my home myself. This works great for my needs (about 6 rugs/runners, cat hair/cat litter/monster dust bunny control; and surface=premium linoleum throughout). • So I’m a happy girl. Thanks, Sharky. I dig your product. 🙂

People find the following negative one quite helpful. Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2023 by Kenneth gunther, titled “No headlight on the updated model”
We replaced a five-year-old shark that is identical to this one. I wouldn’t use this as your main vacuum as the suction is not quite like a corded vacuum. But we use this one for quick cleanups around the birdcage and the occasional spills. Shark discontinued, the headlight on the front of the unit which is said because a greatly helped you locate and ensure that you were getting up any debris on the floor. I bought it aftermarket light but it’s not the same.

Not all same Brand vacuums R the same

This was my second Shark cordless vacuum. I was very happy with the previous vacuum. Purchasing a second one made sense. UNFORTUNATELY it is without a doubt the most disappointing appliance. The handle comes off often and needs 2 B taken 2 a vacuum to replace a screw which hopefully will fix that issue. It does not hold a charge well so I rarely get to finish my vacuuming in one room B4 it turns off. Maybe I just got a bad one or a lemon as they say. It really should B replaced.

    Excellent vacuum

This is the most powerful usable, vacuum that I’ve ever owned in my life. Yes it’s battery operated, but they usually last me about a year or more but then you can just buy a battery from Amazon and that’s extends the life of the unit. I love it.

    Not quite as expected

Bought for my daughter, first one delivered outside on a rainy night, in return process now, second charged overnight, ran it this morning on a shag rug, carpet and bare floor. Did well, picked up a lot of fuzz, crumbs and dust, but could not finish the house. The run time on carpet is 12 minutes, 17 minutes on bare floor, so the den kitchen area and one small bedroom was all I could do until it recharges. Probably won’t keep it. My fault I didn’t notice the run time of 16 minutes as stated in the specs, but I expected better of a Shark product. I guess I’ll have to spend more money to get a longer lasting battery.

    3 units purchased-3 units haven’t worked

We bought this vacuum cleaner and had to exchange it in just a few weeks as it suddenly stopped working and would no longer charge. We received another one and it did the same thing just stopped working after just 4 weeks. We had sent another one to a family member and had the same issue it just stopped after just a few months. So 3 cleaners with the same issue in just a few months.

No Suction After a Few Months

I loved this vacuum at first— Super convenient and lightweight, worked okay on non-carpeted floors and great on carpeted floors. A few months in, the vacuum stopped doing more than sucking dirt up and then just leaving it in a line when you pull the vacuum back toward you. I’ve done everything the average vacuum owner can do, short of playing repair man and dismantling the thing, but it’s still completely useless. So disappointed in this vacuum and having to throw $140 into the trash :/

It lasted one year and 3 months!

I liked this vacuum while it lasted, which was only one year and three months. It has a limited warranty of one year. I should have put it on my credit card for an extended warranty, but I had some return credit, so I used a gift card, and now I’m SOL. I’m buying the replacement vacuum at Costco, so I don’t have to worry. In my opinion, a vacuum should last at least three years.

After a year, very little suction.

I had the unit over a year and it doesn’t seem to have 10-20% of the “pick up” power as when new. On my tile floor, it has trouble picking up a 1/8” cracker crumb until I move to to a very flat area of the tile. It charges fine, sounds as strong as new, and the dirt collector is kept clean.

Easy to use. Doesn’t last very long.

To start with….I love this vacuum. It’s lightweight, easy to empty and works great on my many carpeted stairs. Also it works over all the ruggables throughout the house. My other vacuum cleaners pull the top part away from the velcro and jam up the beater brush. This vacuum is powerful but manages not to get jammed up with the ruggables. My one big complaint: I go through one of these vacuums every year. I use it everyday on the first floor of my house. The problem: I go to start the vacuum by tapping the power button and nothing happens or for a brief moment it starts and then dies. I watched the YouTube videos on troubleshooting for this model and followed the instructions. They indicated that almost always the above “behavior” means there is a plug or jam. I keep the filters clean and have checked for jams (there haven’t been). I chalk this up to a year of constant use and after all for the price I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that it doesn’t last past about a year and a half. And because it would cost more than I paid for it to repair it I just by another. I have a standby corded Dyson to pick up the slack. I don’t like having to dispose of my no longer working Sharks in a landfill.

    Light weight and efficient

My wife loves this vacuum. We had the same one before and lasted 5 or 6 years. She is 75 years old and needed a light weight vacuum. They don’t carry this model in any stores. All other cordless vacuums were too heavy or cumbersome for her height of 4’11”. It is great for daily light to moderate cleaning cutting down the use of a more powerful corded vacuum 10/1. It is easy to maneuver and a breeze to empty. To 2 led lights makes it easy to see debris in dimmly lit areas. You ask, only lasted 5 or 6 years? If you want something to last 10 years, you would pay 3X’s the cost of this. Do the math. It may not be powerful enough to get down deep in thicker carpets, so we use a bigger corded vacuum twice a month. My wife vacuums almost every day with this cordless vacuum so hardly anything gets a chance to go deep into the carpets. The house is 1800sqft and using the vacuum almost every day for 5 years, I feel this is a great bargain. Hopefully the new one is just as good as the last one we had and they didn’t cheap out on parts.

Horrible battery life not worth the price

The vacuum has good suction l, I love that’s it’s cordless. But that’s it! I’ve had this vacuum 4 days and I can’t complete a full room without it going dead. 2 out of 4 days I left it on the charger to assure it’s fully charged. And it’s still going dead. My $20 Bluetooth speaker last longer. For the price it’s unacceptable. There’s no additional attachments for corners or couches. Very small compartment. Basically nothing that should be valued at this price. It’s going back!

After 1.5 months with this vacuum it would never reach full charge (even when on charger for days), and it would die before I could even finish my living room. I’m sad because I liked it, but it really let me down. It has been 4 months and it still never fully charges, I will be getting rid of it.

    Old Faithful

Every time I try a different brand, I return to this one, old faithful. Still the best cordless, bagless stick vacuum for the money . Longer handle for tall people, easy to operate, not too noisy, easy to store, and does a decent job of cleaning my hardwood, tile, and area rugs. Past purchases have averaged a useful life of at least 1.5 years, about a quarter a day. And I notice the manufacturer has kept the price moderately stable over the past few years

fantastic, convenient, needs to be replaced from time to time

This picks up everything. It’s easy to empty the dust and detritus that is picked up. You can use it on barefloors or carpets. It’s cordless. It pivots around and gets in corners. The main dust container is easy to empty as is the second one. There’s a third one that is a little tricky to empty and sometimes you need to get stuff out from the roller. It has to be replaced from time to time. I bought my first one in July 2018. On average I need to replace it about every 18 months.

I can not rave enough about this little vac. For its size it does amazing job. The suction power is better than some big vacs I have owned. Battery life is quite good, you always want more but it really is quite good . The cup is decent size for such a small vac. The small size gets in those hard to get spots your big vac won’t fit into. Died after 15 Months

The foot did not work well, kept having to stomp on it to turn on and off m also it would turn going under a low piece of furniture. Most importantly it died after only 15 months.

    Eventually stops working.

Didn’t hate this vacuum as it is lighter and nice not worrying about a cord. However. It just smells like the engine is burning every other time I use it and the brush works less the half of the time.

The first ones were much better and lasted longer

The first one I had lasted for years and was wonderful and lasted 5 or 7 years. When it died I got another one. This one is less than three years old and it needs to be replaced as it will no longer pick up things on the hardwood. Will end up spending more to get a better one.

two years old and brush keeps stopping on carpet

I have had this almost exactly two years. and now the brush starts on carpet setting and with in a few seconds stops working. I pulled out the brush and cleaned and checked the assembly and no issues. seems like a faulty switch on the inside that is turning it off. for the price would think it would last longer.

Roller brush won’t spin after a year

I used to loved this but after a year the roller brush does not spin even though the belt is intact and there is no debris blocking it. Such a disappointment.

    $20. Vacuum

First off, I want to say this is my 3rd Shark vacuum. So I was surprised that this one is so cheap and unworthy of the Shark brand. If a $20 vacuum could be produced; this would be it. Run time; (no where in description do they say this) is 17 min. tops but more like 12. Suctionh power is below pare and does not do nooks, & crannies at all. Only extends about 6 inches under furniture. Most debris get blown out the back which then get stuck to you or back of vac, or it just rolls over it. I had initially started a return but sellers ask for item to be boxed and the box it came it was soaking wet from shipper leaving in the rain. In Amazon’s defense; that wasn’t the drivers fault. We are rural and they had no where else to leave it. This vacuum is a total waste.

    Great lightweight vacuum.

This is my second identical sweeper, the last one is still sweeping great and its10–12 years old. It’s very lightweight and for it’s small size has a powerful vacuum. I use it on both wood floors and rugs definitely would recommend it.
