The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Not Adequate for German Shepherds
Paid a lot of $ for this and it’s faster to use my upright vacuum. I have a german shepherd who sheds a lot 24/7/365. I cannot keep the base near enough to where I need to use the vacuum because it interferes with my wifi for my work computer. so I end up babysitting this thing and have to empty it so often, it’s annoying. and the vacuum really doesn’t track well, in my opinion. I don’t have it mapped but really shouldn’t need to for the thing to actually vacuum the entire floor. it gets stuck a lot and keeps going over the same area over and over and over. if you don’t have a shedding dog, and you don’t have carpet, and if all your furniture hangs from the ceiling, it would work great. maybe the technology will improve in time but for now, I don’t recommend this product.

Greatest purchase ever!!
This seriously has been the best investment and my most favorite purchase I ever have made! We vacuumed daily due to having 3000sqft of only hardwood and travertine flooring with three dogs who constantly go in and out into their yard. Living in southern coastal GA we have a lot of sand (and dog hair). I can vacuum the house with our upright Shark and then run the robot. It’s unbelievable how much more hair, dirt, and sand it will pick up. I believe it relatively very quiet and have even used it in the middle of the night. Slept fine with it cleaning in our room. The app is great and the mapping program is impressive. My husband loves it and now my angst of needing to vacuum the house every afternoon has disappeared. I highly recommend it!!!

Good product
It’s works great when it doesn’t disconnect from the internet which it does every month. Then it takes forever for it to reconnect

Big relief…
I have to say, this vacuum has cut the daily anxiety I had about the condition of my house in half. 4 kids, 5 dogs, and a long hair cat, living in the desert, lots of hair and dirt! It does it’s job well, easy to replace the filters, easy to empty the basin, the app is easy to use.

Product Defect
We bought our vacuum in December 2022, named it Larry, and have had it just over a year. Larry does a wonderful job cleaning and has been a giant time saver! Our entire family loves him! Unfortunately, he quit working a couple weeks ago–saying he has something stuck on the underside. I thoroughly cleaned the underside, but the error message will not go away. After conducting online research, other people have had the same issue. He quit working just after his year warranty expired. I’m going to purchase another vacuum from another manufacturer. Shark normally produces great products, and I am very sad that this vacuum was not a good purchase.

Needed parts after second use
We excited to use our new Shark robo vac and after the second use the the roller wheel broke off during cleaning. We called Shark service and got the part, but there was no way to attach it. Called again and they sent the entire vacuum pod. We had take parts off the original and replace them in the new pod. No easy task. You must have very small screw drivers to accomplish this feat. I wanted to send the whole thing back at this point, but my husband was determined to fix it. It’s now charging and I will have to reprogram and map again. Not sure if it was all worth it even though it vacuumed pretty good.

Awesome Machine
Read a lot of reviews, before finally buying one of the robot vacuums. It is awesome. We have Wood Floors with multiple pets and the Shark keeps up with our floors now. I only vacuum the carpet in our bedrooms, once a week now. I would highly recommend this machine. Hope it will last for a few years…..

Would buy again
I have been shopping for a robot vacuum for years. Being fair, this was a great purchase mostly due to the price. I snagged this as a Holiday deal and the discount was awesome. My expectations were met. It is efficient and does a decent job at the in between deep cleans. As long as you realize it will take this robot longer to vacuum the house than if you did it yourself, you will love it . My house is 2400 sf, ranch and it needs to dock at least twice during a clean. wish I purchased it sooner!

Upgrade!
I had a 1st Gen Roomba that just pinged around like a blind robot. This Shark is a major upgrade! I love the room mapping and lines. It does a great job and I have 2 dogs.

Not for pets
Have 2 dogs, was hoping for just a general clean between weekly deep cleans. Would never self empty and would return to base after 15min with “full dust bin”. Had some hair in there, not full by any means. But wouldn’t continue to run unless you manually emptied it. Not once did it actually self empty. After dumping it 17 times in one run of the main floor I packed it right back up and returned it. Could have vacuumed myself in the amount of time I spent just emptying minute amounts of dust/hair from the dust bin.

This model doesn’t edge clean
I splurged on this robot as a replacement for an older model shark robot vacuum that I purchased on clearance for $75. That model was amazing at picking up dirt and pet hair but died a messy death when our new puppy left a landmine in the dining room. It also frequently got caught on cords or rogue sock, so I decided to shop for a model by the same company (assuming the suction power would be the same) but with technology to self empty and avoid getting stuck. This model avoids even the hint of an area where it perceives an obstacle. It halts a good two inches from every wall and cupboard, leaving a large space where dirt loves to collect. It’s worse at corners, which must be too dark and scary for the robot to venture. Further, the suction is not as strong, so it only grabs small or light surface dust and hair. On the floor, larger particles are left behind. The suction into the self-empty bin is also weak and leaves a good amount of dust and fibers still in the vacuum. After about 6 months I also noticed that it will dock but often doesn’t empty into the bin. I have to pick it up and recenter, which defeats the purpose. I’ve troubleshooted by cleaning the sensors and docking pads, so all of this is definitely a product flaw and not from dirt. Lastly, I have to clean the brush roller daily because the shaft does nothing to prevent hair clogs. I don’t own high shedding dogs, so definitely pass on this model if you do. I owned this for just over a year and because of the cost, I’m not replacing it until next November. When I do, I’ll explore other brands. Definitely disappointed that a cheaper model outperformed this one!

Love this!
Easy to set up. Works better than expected. We have two long haired cats and lots of “fur” on our floors. The picks it up easily. Also gets into corners.

Smart little robot vacuum
I was skeptical, didn’t think robot vac would clean well. I was wrong. The Shark does a good job picking up dust, dirt and pet hair. Most impressed with its ability to learn as it sweeps. When house was mapped initially, didn’t pickup table chairs so vac could get under. Upon later vacuuming trips, chairs were picked up and vac found its way under the tables. Didn’t have to remap. I didn’t want the vac and base to be out in the open and obvious. Instructions recommend base is placed in open area. I put the base under a cabinet. Vac has no trouble leaving the base or finding its way home. Only negative, can’t schedule a room specific cleaning, will only schedule whole house cleaning.

I think this is the coolest gadget ever
I can watch this little dude clean every time. Our place just stays clean with this guy on schedule. Works well and easy to use. One of my most favorite things I have ever purchased.

Only Lasted 18 Months
Not worth the 400 dollar price. Not to mention another 100 dollars for filter and brushes replacements. Changed filters once a week and replacement brush bar 4 times , front brushes more then I can count. Found out the suction motor in the robot itself failed. But we did really like it when it worked. With that being said, The short life span is not worth the cost.
GMac –
Lasted less than 2 years
The motor is defective, the shark ninja technician has informed me. Now the device works but the dust bin will not empty the dirt into the self emptying container. POS lasted less than 2 years. And the app is a nightmare – it takes hours to connect the POS to the app and wifi. Not a good experience at all.

Squeaky wheel – had to return
Robot worked great but the squeaking wheel drove me crazy. I work from home so the robot ran while I was home. Had to return the robot. Currently waiting on a replacement.

Quite surprised
This little guy works quite well. I was shocked after the first run. Gets in places you typically don’t get at. Always picks up material. I like the app too.
jeff jenkins –
Works great
I have been using it now for 30 days. It picks up dirt and other objects without any issues. I love the pattern that it leaves in the carpet.
Helen –
works great
I have no carpet in my house. This thing works great. I have not had to get out my sweeper or broom except to get under my cabinet where the robot cant reach. Love this thing
Andra Cowles –
Works pretty good.
I love having a robot vacuum but I think next time I purchase one I won’t buy one with the 30 day canister, just the vacuum because you still have to clean it after almost every use.

Does Not Self Empty!
Mostly dog and cat hair. Picks it up well and in fact it pacts it in and seems to pack in so much debris that it won’t empty because of how stuffed it is. I have to manually empty it almost every time. There is NO alert that there is a problem with vacuum or either bin. Defeats the whole purpose of self empty.
Michael D. –
Great time saver
Gift for my wife and she loves it, unfortunately our cat loves it to, we have to lock him up when in use.
Lindsey Carlisle –
So convenient!
I love how easy it is to set up. The app on your phone let’s you start it while you’re not even around. Does a great job!
D. Wright –
Very Poor Connection
The Shark does a fairly good job of cleaning, however it frequently looses connection and can be extremely difficult to reconnect. I called their technical support and they were unable to get it to connect. There is a second level tech support, which can take 48 hours to get back to you. (They are only available by call back). Basically the vacuum is not very useful if it does not work consistently.
Jessie Goodwin –
Worked AMAZING but broke at less than a year?!
We ordered this in March 2022, it worked fantastically for about 8 months and then broke. We didn’t drop it/break it/we did all the troubleshooting with Shark, and I called the Shark number and they said even though it was purchased less than a year ago, they would not reimburse or send a new one under the 1 year warranty because only a part of it was not working. SO MAD!
Miranda Pouliot –
Love!!!!
I rage purchased this after unclogging our vacuum 4x in one day. We have a German shepherd. Her hair is everywhere. This thing runs 90 minutes every day and fills up 2-3 times each run. It gets lost when it gets a little too far from the wifi, but it texts me for help :). I don’t think I could ever be without one now!
Esmeralda Cabral –
With dogs it’s not a 30 day empty the bin type
I have a 78lbs GSD/American Staffordshire Terrier mix and a 12lbs Chihuahua. Between the two I empty the bin every 15 days give or take. The tower tank thing doesn’t last 30 days without being emptied. I have hardwood floors all throughout my house too. I’d recommend getting a second shark if you want to actually empty the tower bin very 30 days. If not plan for every 10-14 days.

MAPPING!
Works great! We bought a IRobot vaccuum 4 years ago from Costco and these sweepers have came a long way! Everyone thinks our house looks clean, which it does, but after seeing how much this picks up when we send it out 4 times a day I think otherwise! Find it on sale because it is worth $300 after tax. I have not used the app yet. This was a gift from Christmas. Rinse your filters. **THIS WILL GO FROM HARDWOOD TO COSTCO’S THICK SHAG RUG**

easy to hookup to wifi and setup
I( am really impressed with the Shark Robot. The unit ran for about 45 minutes and cleaned the entire house. This a great way to clean and maintain the dust and dirt particles. I only wish it came with an extra set of brushes. Highly recommended B Ford
Bri F. –
Constantly Has Errors
I was excited about this vaccum because it’s highly rated for pet hair. It worked great for the first month, ever since it seems like every day there’s a new problem. “The roller is stuck” “the dust pan is installed incorrectly” “help I’m stuck” I’m lucky for it to get through one room before having an issue. The battery is also an issue. The vaccum is suppose to run during the day while I’m at work, it always gets stuck somewhere but by the time I get home it’s dead and it’s a struggle to find it. When I do find it, every night I have to deep clean everything in hopes that it’ll work better the next day. I like that it maps the house but I feel like my older, off brand model that randomly bumped around the room had less problems. Our house is all tile too, no carpet that could be interfering, I really don’t know what gets it so out of sorts besides the fact I have a golden retriever that sheds badly. Overall for the price I think I would have rather spend the extra $100 to get a better vaccuum than settle on this one. If you don’t have pets and have a very simple floor plan without much furniture or rugs for it to get stuck on it’d probably be a great product for you. But if your goal is to help manage pet hair, keep looking.

Arrived with a bad battery. SHARK forced me to pay for a new one.
I got this robot vacuum set up and ready to go last night. I was beyond excited I have a German Shepherd and he sheds like crazy. I have to sweep everyday. The hype was high. I saw that it needed to charge for 6 hours so I figured I would get this baby running in the morning. Well that all came crashing down in the morning. The red battery light was still blinking saying it had zero charge. I contacted amazon support they said they would get an exchange started. Well I guess Amazon hates me because the person helping me didn’t actually bother setting it up. I figured I would call the manufacture and see what they could do for me before going through the Amazon process again. Well I was told that even though it is brand new and never been used I would still have to pay FULL PRICE for a replacement battery. They eventually offered me 50% of the battery price and free shipping. Like what the hell is that? So yeah if you order this you better hope that it actually works otherwise you will be paying full price for the replacement parts of your brand new device.

Great Shark
This is a great product. I am a senior and needed something that would vacuum my floors now that I am older. I have 3 cats and they drop fur everywhere along with little cat litter sand pieces and this vacuum handles it all. Mapping was very easy and accurate. Spot cleaning, room cleaning, and whole house cleaning is excellent. I highly recommend this vacuum. The only complaint is that it could have a bigger base unit to hold more dirt so it doesn’t have to be emptied as often.

Not even a half a year and its broken. Cleaned all the filters, everything possible. Robot wont move and reading on forums saying pretty much blower motor failed, if this ! Mark is flashing.

Battery died, they’re out of stock
Shark works decently but the lithium ion battery gave out within 6 months. The part has been out of stock for another 6 months since then rendering this product useless. Why would you even sell a product when you can’t keep essential and critical parts of it in stock. Won’t be buying again

Doesn’t bump into anything, cleans thick rugs well
Absolutely love this thing! It’s the only robot vacuum that is able to go over and clean my thing faux fur rug without any issues The house mapping works great, the app features are really convenient and the spot cleaning is really good It’s relatively quiet compared to the others I’ve had, also doesn’t bump into anything so my furniture and walls aren’t getting dinged like before I have made this thing my son and I love watching him go… I think I may have gained an unhealthy obsession with it

Larger, heavier and louder than expected
My husband likes it but it is too heavy for me. We are older. We have only used it a few times so far. It is much noisier than our previous model and I don’t run it in a room I am near. It is also larger, the vacuum itself and the tank, takes up too much space for me. Because he likes it we will keep it.

Disappointed in this product.
Very disappointed in this product. Would like to return it however, it has been since September. It will not pick up under the counters and has an odd way of constantly coming on when you don’t want it to.
Gowest123 –
Sadly just an overpriced paperweight with lacking manufacturer support
The product worked great for 3 months of light use. Then it began giving various errors that required me uninstalling it from the app and it would start functioning again. However in late November, it stopped working altogether telling me it had a “brushroller stuck error”. I made sure everything was indeed clean, tried a new brushroll, replaced all the filters (they weren’t even dirty), and then called customer support from Shark to resolve the issue. Over a video chat, they determined the machine was faulty and that they didn’t have the part to repair it. They provided me with a return label and a promise they’d ship a replacement free of charge as soon as the shipping carrier got the package. It would take 3-5 days to ship out. That was Dec 1. I still have no product and no shipment of the replacement after nearly a month. Order status on their website still lists “pending return”. Thankfully I kept photos and proof of tracking numbers that show it was delivered to them and received just a few days after I sent it. I’ve made multiple calls to the manufacturer and emails and they all promise me to just wait a few more days and they will get I sorted. It’s been weeks of this and still nothing. I’m very disappointed that a product this expensive lasted only a few months and now I have to deal with manufacturer customer support that seems to go nowhere. Save your money and your sanity. Pick anything but this product, it won’t last.

Not as good as my old Eufy
The media could not be loaded. Cons: Very very loud especially when docking/ “evacuating”, inside is not easy to clean, complexity of inside parts looks like it will be a pain to fix or replace parts in the future. Big base takes up space, UX not intuitive on the app, no remote control, slow to respond when you push clean or dock buttons. Not as good as Eufy with pet hair. Pros: picks up around 2-3x junk as my Eufy. Goes row by row instead of in random directions. Doesn’t get stuck as easily. Conclusion: I’m returning the shark to get something else!

Does a great job, but..
The vacuum does a great job with day to day cleaning. I use mine for laminate flooring a medium pile carpet. It does a flawless job on the laminate. She will pick up light debis on the carpet, but let’s face it, she is not a full size upright. My only beef is with the app. A schedule can be set, but robot will seem to run any time on the scheduled day. Shark doesn’t seem to have a fix for this issue.
