The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Buy a roomba instead
Coming from an original iRobot roomba this product is worse in nearly every facet. Worked okay first couple times, set up the app and rooms and now it only try’s to clean one small section. Only ever goes to this one spot. Factory reset, deleted maps, still just trying to get to the same area. Don’t buy this buy a roomba

It’s ok..
The vacuum works fine, nothing amazing, but the app is trash. If you disconnect from the Internet once it makes you redownload. I know most apps on these suck and this is just another. I’m still torn on if it’s actually worth the cost compared to my cheaper one.

Worst purchase ever made
I spend more time fixing it than it does cleaning. Constant error messages. Never completes a full clean without unnecessary interruptions. My previous Lulublu worked much better.

A decent robot ruined by bad app
The robot itself is great. You still have to be careful and arrange the space a bit so it won’t get stuck in a space of similar width. When it’s unfortunately stuck, it can also reliably recover after I move it out. Navigation is very reliable. Full-room clean never had a problem in navigation. I can also put it anywhere in any room and it correctly locates itself every time. It even works in low-light conditions. Battery charges very slowly, but it’s enough to clean my space in one go, so that’s not a big issue yet. FWIW, it takes ~60-70% battery on “Normal” or ~85% on “Max” setting to clean around 550 sqft. The mopping was decent, though it can’t traverse carpets like the higher-end models, but this is half of their price. I don’t have a pet and the debris capacity is way more than enough for 3 months or even more. However, the app is a joke. I only had it for 3 months, and that’s a far worse experience than Neato’s app that stopped development years ago. 1. It’s very very very slow. It takes seconds to tens of seconds to do anything. Opening the app? Tens of seconds. Loading map? A few seconds. See schedule? See clean report? More seconds wasted for you. You have to wait too because just switching away and back immediately, everything starts over. Good luck. 2. The app loses my rooms and carpet zones randomly and I have to set everything up again. It didn’t lose the map at least. 3. The minimal room/zone size is very tricky for marking small spaces. There are no-go zones I can’t mark because of that. 4. The apps logs me out regularly. I have to switch default browser to Chrome just for this app because otherwise, logging in will throw me into a redirection loop. Why do you need Chrome specific feature just for logging in? No other app I’ve used does this. 5. Spurious notifications about missing dust bin, or failing to empty the dust bin at station when everything is just fine. I didn’t need to take any action to deal with the alert. This might be a robot problem though. It happens less often lately too. Perhaps it’s fixed now. Given how the robot is tied to the app, I would avoid Shark robots in the future unless their app improves. The robot itself being rather solid, so it’s rather unfortunately it’s held back by the painful app.

Horrible, we can’t use this after owning for 3 mos. We keep having to remap our entire house. It worked for about 1 month then we have had all kinds of trouble and they refuse to do anything about it. Amazon won’t let us return it.

Be careful if you change your wifi
Purchased on Prime Day deal, replaced a “dumb” robot vac. We are 2 retired people with no pets but occasionally young grandchildren visiting (and eating). We have hardwood floors and rugs. Pros: Does a decent job of quick vacuuming a few days a week so things stay fairly clean. Self-emptying dustbin is awesome. Easy to clear small items that get stuck in the roller. Cons: If you change your wifi there is no intuitive way to change the settings on the vacuum. You need to go to “add a new vacuum” then push the buttons on the device to start the wifi setup. Be sure to give your robot the exact same name and then it will set itself up with the existing mappings. Otherwise, YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER WITH MAPPING EVERYTHING. This should have been more apparent. I can’t give rooms custom names, so when I had to divide my dining room to avoid having to move all of the chairs to a different room, I had to call the second half “Playroom.” The mop function is messy and defeats the self-emptying aspect, so I used it once and then decided I would rather just use a regular mop for my kitchen. I could have saved some $$. We are two retired people with hardwood and rugs but no pets (just occasional grandkids). This does a decent job but not as good as my traditional upright, so occasionally I need to use that. The robot will not go under my furniture like my last one would; it perceives an obstacle in mapping and avoids these areas. My dining chairs don’t flip to sit on the table so I have to move them out of the way. Not a dealbreaker for me but disappointing. Conclusion: I would shop more carefully next time and check out the app associated with the robot.

Ok for light vaccuming in between the regular cleaning

Amazing…I’m in love!
I have only had the Shark Robot Vacuum & Mop Combo, Powerful Suction, Matrix Plus for less than a week so I am still getting used to how it works, but I am amazed at how well it works. I live in a studio apartment with my teenage daughter and a dog while my new home is being built, and I work 12-hour shifts, so having a device like this to assist me with basic housekeeping is a God send! I have my shark aka “Clean Latifah,” scheduled to vacuum daily at 11am while my daughter is at school, and I am at work. My dog sheds a great deal, and this thing picks EVERYTHING off the floors! The best part is the 2 in 1 feature. The Shark also has the option to mop and sweep simultaneously! That is pretty fantastic in my book. If you need your floors cleaned fast, this is the way to go! I have removed the mop attachment for the time being to allow for vacuuming only. I do wish that I could schedule more than 1 cleaning per day, but I have been using the app for additional cleanings without a problem! I love everything so far, especially not having to empty the dust been often and the fact that there is no bag to change! Highly recommend!!

Cheaply made
I am very disappointed in this product! It broke with in months of having it. The vacuum part worked well but the mop part is what broke and now that this part is broke I can’t use it. What a waist of money!! Trying to see if I can get it replaced by the protection plan.

Shark needs to figure out the programming for their robots and app
The app is very slow even with gig speed Internet. Very basic functions and lacking many common features. You can’t change zone names, you can only do squares/rectangles when creating zones. No auto rug/carpet detection nor threshold detection. No adaptive map feature. No option to manually check for firmware updates nor any option to have multiple maps. No option from app to pause device and slow user interface. If these SOFTWARE features are only on select models, then it needs to be standard on all models since it’s software based features. I really want to return it but I’m not one of those people to return something once it’s used.

Hair clogs ir
My reservoir would leak but I feel like that’s not a common problem as I didn’t see any other complaints about it I would have gotten a replaced but it’s still got stuck on hair from the dogs and would need to be cleared almost every use

Love it!
This turned out to be great buy. The APP is mildly dissappointing as it’s missing some of the functionality that my less expensive brand has, but without a doubt, this vacuum is great and worth a little extra money.

All the parts began to break
At first I thought it was the best thing ever happened to me. Clean floors everyday! But just two months after using it several of the plastic parts broke, making it useless. First was the pad plate, but I was able to order the part (about $40) now the button that holds the dust/cleaner container. The worst investment so far

Not too smart, does ok
Just got mine and was so excited, but the results are just ok. There is no ability in the app to tell it to just mop, and not vacuum at the same time. I wanted to do this because the first mop wasn’t great, I figured it would be cleaner after a second mop, so would nice to be able to run it to mop again without vacuuming. Also the FAQ mention you could designate high traffic areas, but turns out that’s not possible. It does a very very light clean, but I wouldn’t say it’s very “smart” or advanced. The mop wasn’t strong enough for me to really consider it at all useful, so I don’t recommend it. If you want something that just pics up some dust and pet hair and don’t really care about anything else, then get the cheaper one that is not a 2n1.
J&S Gelardi –
Does not mop properly.
Mop feature is useless. I just mopped my floors the old school way since the mop feature on the Shark was not working. I had used the mop feature previously and I thought it worked fine until today. My floor was so dirty after I hand mopped . Now I don’t care if the mop feature ever works since it cleans so poorly. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is that is is quiet and vacuums well. What a waste of money.

Do not buy
If I could give this vacuum a zero I would. Stopped working before a year was up. Contacted Shark support and during video consult with them the vacuum worked. I was told that a ticket was created and that if issues came up again they would honor the warranty. Stopped working again and a day off the purchase date I called suport and Shark won’t stand behind the product for replacement but offered a replacement at higher the cost I initially paid. Do yourself a favor buy a Eufy. Have had 2 vacuums from them that are still going strong after 2 plus years.

Disappointed
Most of us know how expensive a good robo vacuum/mop can be. I bought this Shark Matrix in March 2024 as a treat for when we moved into our house with complete tile floor. It was great to begin with once moved in at the end of June 2024. It worked until December 2024 when the mop function died. It vacuums still, but when you try to mop it states that there is no water in the reservoir. $500 wasted.

Great at first
I loved this product for the first year, I had a schedule set so it would start up after I left every . but then it kept disconnecting so I had to use the button on the vacuum. Very inconvenient. I called customer service. They walked me through the steps to completely reset it. It stayed connected for about a week then disconnected again. so if you want this so that you can set a schedule and use the app. It might not work out. May will be two years and I’m now disappointed and wish I would’ve went with a different product.

Bad purchase. Don’t waste your money.
I’ve had this for a year now.. the Battery doesn’t last for my whole first floor anymore, which is 1200sqft. It’s horrible at cleaning anything larger than light dust. The app is horribly written. The vacuum has no intelligence in it’s pattern, it’s all over the place when cleaning. I had an iHome from walmart that was 10x better and switched to this because it’s a shark and has the mopping function. Overall not worth $50 in my opinion. And the mopping is something you have to manually switch to and it honestly isn’t the greatest..
mari l palazolo –
Never use again
The thing would get caught on every little lip going from hardwood to tile. The mop did not clean even the smallest spill. And picking up dog hair was too difficult for this vacuum. Don’t waste your money.

DON’T BUY
I purchased the Shark robot vacuum with high hopes, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The problems started just one month after buying it when the pads for washing the floors broke. I tried buying replacements on Amazon and at Walmart, but none of them fit, despite being advertised as universally compatible. This led to unnecessary extra spending just to find pads that worked. After two years, the vacuum completely stopped working. It no longer recognizes the house layout, the mapping feature is useless, and it constantly claims to see obstacles or that something is stuck underneath. We followed all the manufacturer’s cleaning and troubleshooting guidelines, but nothing helped. The laser and camera are completely dead, rendering the vacuum useless. For the price, this product is not worth it. I have an $80 robot vacuum from Amazon that I bought two years before the Shark, and it still works perfectly without any issues. It’s a far better purchase than this expensive, unreliable Shark vacuum. I expected more from this brand, but after this experience, I will never buy anything from Shark again. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Love this thing
Perhaps this is a harbinger of middle age but at 40, I am so happy with this robot vacuum. I like that I can schedule the vacuum to clean at a certain day and time. The house looks clean all of the time. I have LVP floors and rugs and this vacuum does well to clean all of the day to day things that I find collecting. It even off roads over my side tables and get under the chairs and bed. The receptacle is very easy to empty. Very impressed! Also after it has mapped the house, I can send it to clean specific rooms if needed. Such a great feature. Well done.

High Maintenance and malfunctions after 3 months
The media could not be loaded. High Maintenance and malfunctions after 3 months.. I noticed that over few days it won’t empty the internal bin automatically to the base even though plenty of capacity remains so far from “60 days“ I was hoping to replace my deebot entirely but now I have to use deebot as a pre-vacuum to help this thing. We have a short coat GSD that sheds quite a bit so we use this on daily basis. Second issue is that started complaining about the bumper being stuck error number 6, but the bumper moves freely, sometimes pressing resume will make it work again other times I have to restart the unit, move the bumper few times for it to start working again. Called support they made me do a video call and went thru checks it did the error on the call she made me do few things and Started working fine so she couldn’t do anything else since it started working. I explained that it is the behavior it will work few minutes then do the same thing. During tonight routine run it failed again.. Googled this issue and seems to be common defect with these. Will have to call them again a hope they do something. Disappointed.

Won’t charge
I bought this item for the great price and self emptying container. I’ve had constant issues with it charging since the day I bought it now it won’t charge it all. I’ve cleaned all the metal connectors very well. The only way to make it charge is to prop up the front of the vacuum after you put it back on the base, I was hoping it was as good quality as my iRobot I had for five years previously. Love the quietness, how well it cleans and the mapping of the floor, but due to the charging issues, it rarely runs unless I pay attention. I was looking for an item that I didn’t have to worry about.

Generally an OK robot vacuum
The shark vacuum does some things well and others bits are maddening. What it does well – I have had this vac for 6 months and it has not yet lost the map of my house (previous vac would randomly not know where it was and have to remap the house) – coverage of the house seems pretty good (not great) – there aren’t any places it gets stuck. Previous vac would get under a certain chair on a oriental rug and just spin around. This does not happen with the shark. – the sensors seem to be less sensitive to dust, so it doesn’t pause with errors asking me to clean the anti drop sensor. What it does poorly – it seems to ignore no go areas I defined on my map – no live tracking of its progress on the map. While that sounds like minor, without live tracking i havnt figured out the no go areas and where it thinks it is in relation to them. – the vacuum pattern seems to be random wandering – it is like a bull in a China shop, it’s bumper is not overly sensitive. So it pushes some items, like plants on stands around.

Not worth the $$
I don’t love this. I really wanted to. We upgraded from a very basic Eufy but looking back I would’ve kept that one. Mapping technology on this is not good. Something is always stuck in it. We literally only need this to pick up dog hair and it barely gets anything.

So Helpful
My kids broke my 7-year old robot vacuum. I was upset with them but not anymore. This one is SO MUCH BETTER. The old one got stuck on our floor vents and surfaces changes frequently. To the point I only used it upstairs where there aren’t floor vents. This one hasn’t gotten stuck once and does a great job.

DONT BUY
Bought this October 2024 and stopped working 4 months later. Takes forever to map your place, takes forever to clean and sometimes runs out of battery life before completing the cleaning cycle.

What a mistake
If my wife ever wants to order a Shark product again I will mix a cocktail for her, sit her down, and remind her of how difficult and ineffective this unit is to use. The app is slow, only a bit intuitive, and seems to have little relation to how the vacuum/mop actually works. It does not save my zones, which I set up for carpet and hardwood, though I don’t really know why it can’t tell the difference, and I am long enough in years that I no longer have the time to keep allowing “Clean Latifah” as we have named her, to keep reprogramming her fields of mopping versus vacuuming every time the app updates, the cycle of the moon changes, or the barometric pressure rises or falls. I also love how my wife vacuums with the Dyson before using the Shark in order to make sure everything gets clean. Should tell you all you need to know.
Mark M. –
Mediocre vacuum and app
Works OK, but suction is not very strong, it gets lost and we need to find it and carry it back to the base a couple times a week. It also stubbornly climbs on chair and table bases. The Shark app has very limited functionality and support is non-existent. I would not recommend this vacuum.

Wow! My new favorite household staple
I love my new robot vacuum. It’s so easy to use and looks fantastic in my living room. Works great with all the dog hair and dirt brought in from their little paws. Capacity of bin seems to be enough. Much easier than having to empty every go around. Suction and spin rate is perfect for maintaining floors. But I still have to use an upright vacuum once a week, which is better than pulling it out everyday.

Amazing machine and customer support.
I bought my Shark robot vacuum/mop combo back in July of 2024, and it has worked incredibly well until recently. We have a high volume house with 2 dogs, a free roam rabbit and 3 cats, so it is used and emptied every day. Because of it’s high use, I am diligent about keeping up with cleaning and maintenance on a weekly basis. I have an additional set of filters so I can wash and dry the washable filters without loosing time running the Shark while waiting for everything to dry which is essential. All has been great until 3 days ago when our machine stopped self emptying (even though the base bin is empty) and it also will not run. It keeps saying to check its dust bin Error #9. I contacted customer support an they were awesome! The call required a video session so they could walk me through and see for themselves what was happening. They concluded that my vacuum needed to be replaced because of a hardware issue and they will be sending me a new machine within 3 to 5 days. I only had to pay $22 for shipping since it is still under warranty. I’m going to assume that this malfunction was just a fluke and I will continue to purchase Shark products. The products and customer support are great!!!

Great vacuum, terrible software.
This is the second 2500 series I’ve bought. These robots have a great mechanical design, keeping the house floors clean. The first unit worked spectacularly but after several years the LiDAR sensor malfunctioned and kept saying it needed cleaning. No amount of cleaning helped so I replaced the robot. The second unit mechanically operates just as well as my first, but the software has become stupid. When told to vacuum a specific room the unit now decides to take the tourist route. Sometimes, it will clean the desired room first and then proceed to clean all the other rooms. The robot is homed in my kitchen. Once I found it with a dead battery in the farthest room away from its base after I told it to just vacuum the kitchen. I have deleted the map three times and remapped my house but the software still does not work all the time for cleaning specific rooms. I would give my first model 5 stars. Unfortunately with the changed behavior, two stars is the best I can give based on the frustration and lack of set and forget that’s possible now.
Jade Levinson –
Worth the money
Overall a good buy. Bought this for Black Friday for $350 and it’s gotten a few months of regular use now. The app can be a little buggy at times (logging me out randomly) and the initial mapping was a little tricky but once set up, it’s a huge time saver and is surprisingly intuitive. It cleans corners I wouldn’t expect it to reach. I worried that it would shred the 4 inch tassels of a rug or that the tassels would tangle in the spinning brush but it seems to just glide right over them. The mopping function is surprisingly effective as well, it appears to pick up more dirt than the pad of my wet jet. The noise level registers at about 65 dB compared to 75 dB of an average vacuum cleaner, but this doesn’t seem to be a reflection of the suction power, judging from the amount of dust dirt and hair in the charging unit’s dust reservoir. The charging unit has a relatively small footprint, we have it by the front door of our apartment. The instructions say that there needs to be one foot of clearance on each side but it does just fine with the right side a few inches from the wall.

We’ve had ours for 2 years and loved it, the vacuum came up with a wheel error and after taking the wheel off we discovered the wiring was fried underneath. I called support, after an hour hold and a video call to show what was wrong then being put on hold – I was told the best they could do is give me a discount on a new model and I had to call the sales department to figure out what the discount would be. The website and manual both say, 5 year warranty, but the claim department did not budge. Very disappointing, I used to love Shark after dealing with their poor customer service and standing behind their products I will no longer buy Shark brand. Only giving 2 stars instead of 1, due to it working great during the short time it lasted.

Not great at picking up dog hair
I bought this as I have dogs and dog hair. Heard great things about it. It does a good job of going around to all areas but it doesn’t pick up the hair. It basically rolls it all together and leaves it in clumps all around. When it self empties, there is some dust and dirt but no hair. I’ve resigned myself to picking up clumps of hair. The floor does look better but definitely not what I had in mind.

Disconnected from network after 3 months and won’t reconnect
We have had this product for less than three months and have had constant issues with it. Those issues were not a big deal because I could fix them but recently it just disconnected from our Wi-Fi and I have done every troubleshooting step that they have offer on the app and has not been able to reconnect the robot. It just erased the map, says it is offline and is basically useless now, I don’t know how to connect with Support so that is why I’m leaving a two star review

Shark robot vacuum
This thing keeps my floors spotless if you work a lot and don’t have much time this is for you although you will have to pickup any big debris and if something is stuck to the floor you’ll have to get that up yourself otherwise it does a great job vacuuming and mopping
