I finally decided to give up on trying to make the OEM radio in my ‘15 Silverado do the things I wanted it to and went aftermarket. I chose this model for two specific reasons: 1) CarPlay, 2) iDataLink. I paired this unit with a replacement fascia from Crutchfield, as well as a Maestro RR and a GM3 harness. After everything was said and done with, I had a clean looking stereo that sounded amazing, kept my steering wheel controls as well as all of the OEM integrated vehicle settings through the stereo display interface. I just love this thing!
Screen is nice but this unit is too glichy. It jumps from one screen to next all by its self . There is no software update either . I usually a pioneer guy but I think I try a kenwood excelon this time

Has glitches
When you insert a USB Thumb drive it says “A Database Must Be Created” and the sound when using Thumb drive is horrible. I called Pioneer and they said they had never heard of this issue before and offered no solution. I searched the web for this issue and found several having the same problem but no fixes. The overall sound is pretty good but if they cant fix the USB then it’s no good to me.

Terrible Product – DO NOT BUY!
Radio stopped working after 16 months. They only warranty for one year so it is just out of warranty and they will do nothing but tell the customer to pay to have it repaired. I never heard of a car radio not working after just over one year of use. Save your money and do not buy Pioneer. They are not the company they used to be. They used to be a leader in electronics but that is not the case any more.

Issues with the stereo
I’m using this in my limousine in las vegas, I switch from Bluetooth to USB (music videos) constantly. I have purchased 2 of them for different limos. ISSUE: when switching from Bluetooth to USB, the unit all of a sudden gives an error code and will not read the USB. If you reset unit (turning off power to the unit by turning car off) when it re-boots it will read the usb again… untill you use Bluetooth again! It’s so frustrating I put a kill switch in to reset the stereo! Besides this issue it’s great! But for my purposes it’s HORRIBLE.. and FYI I contacted PIONEER in regards to this issue, there response…. silence… wont admit they have a software problem and tell me it’s the way it was installed.. well I had it professionally installed with a qualified stereo installer, im guessing 20 years of experience shoud qualify, and they still won’t even acknowledge the issue! Won’t buy PIONEER again till they get better customer service! Maybe posting this picture will get some results.. doubt it though

Installed on my 15’ brz, fits perfectly with the side brackets. Pretty easy to install, depends on what wire adapters you get. I was able to retain the stock usb cable to use the CarPlay. Only thing you won’t be able to keep is the oem mic, you will have to use the unit mic and reroute the wires, which I choose to skip since I don’t really take calls when I’m driving. I will update after a year, seeing how other reviewers have said it runs into problems down the road. So far so good.

Got this radio installed on my car and worked fine for couple weeks, then started having issues while driving, screen become unresponsive, the sound become mute, this problems happened soon after receiving text messages. Had to restart my car to get it working again. I couldn’t figure out how to solve this issue, I ended returned to Amazon for a refund.

Installation was easy! Just make sure you have the correct dash kit and adaptor cables for your car. It fit perfectly in my 2018 Honda Civic LX. The one thing to keep in mind is that it causes the backup camera to have a more of a fisheye lens effect. Pretty sure it’s due to the bigger screen then the stock radio.

My unit came defective
I had my unit installed by an audio enthusiast friend of mine and after a couple hours of troubleshooting came to the conclusion that the front (l and r) output ports arrived damaged. Sound is emitting from the rear speakers just fine but nothing from the front. We tried using both the harness speaker wires and RCAs but same outcome.

Worst stereo I’ve ever purchased
It looks good and sounds good but glitches a lot. It fails to the call screen a few times a week and then it won’t function again until I restart the car. Tried the Pioneer website for a hardware patch but none exists. I emailed their support line but never got a reply. This will be my last Pioneer stereo.

Pretty good for under $500
Easy install , better than I expected sound quality . Warning. No CD player on this unit … it is either digital media via the usb or Sirius xm , or cell phone . The hd radio is just that, a radio. I use mostly digital music . I like Spotify . My only issue is the touch screen around the volume controls seems a bit off. It’s not very sensitive to touch . I have steering wheel controls .. so it’s not a big deal. I’m just pointing out the things I’ve found . I installed it in a 2006 Avalon with 12 speaker jbl and navigation. I used all the needed parts to make the radio integrate as close to the factory radio as possible. I used Axxess parts , steering wheel control , jbl amp control as well as the factory relocation harness to keep the climate controls . You will have a choice of network speakers or analog speaker set up … once this is set you will not be able to change this unless you do a full factory reset on the unit . You will need to know the settings you will need for your installation.

Trustworthy Pioneer
I’ve been a fan of Pioneer Supertuner since the original under dash units of the ’70’s and this new unit held the standard well. So far all features worked with a minimum of effort although had to find a new menu to enable Bluetooth. I have yet to wire in the rear (and possibly font) camera and am still figuring out navigation.
