A Closer Look: Advantages and Disadvantages of the Product
The product has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from users, who praise its wide range of features and user-friendly design. Users like “Nicole Haman” found the product to be highly effective, noting that it “diagnoses the problem accurately and once repaired clears error code out.”
Other commendable features of the product include a strong battery and an easy-to-read instruction book, as highlighted by “Larry E. Hall”. Many customers have praised the product’s accuracy, like “James Moffitt” who described the device as “very accurate.” In addition, the product is easy to use and understand, as noted by “Steven Bickford”.

The device’s ability to check charging systems, batteries, and engine codes without requiring a different scanner has been highly appreciated by customers. User “JDon” mentioned the product’s value for money, stating, “great tool for the price.”
However, the product does have a few shortcomings. Some users have pointed out that the product is slightly complicated to use at first. What do the stars speak of?
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
it needs to be updated right off the bat before you try to use it, as it will not recognize many functions.. this takes 10 minutes and then it works great
I did not see any listing of compatible manufacturers, but saw that users indicated it worked on their Ford. It failed to link with my Escape. The manual only says if it fails to link, the connection is bad (not) at the OBD plug or at the device (not) or the vehicle is not OBDIII compliant. I looked online and found a listing of compatible cars. Ford was not on that list. Not stated in the description. I tried to register the device with their website to get assistance but it would not accept the serial number the device shows on the screen. Tried half a dozen times. The helpline is country code 86, China, so I passed on that long distance opportunity as well. Seemed easier to just return it rather than chase the tail for resolution. Appears to be a good product, and the screens I could observe were clear and easy to read. Disappointed.

Great Buy for a great diagnostic tool.
Do not start the car when using this product. Just make sure that your vehicle is in the run position (key or keyless). Very easy to use and accurate codes.

Just what I was liking for!
Great quality.. worth the money.. need to check YouTube for further assistance.. not much directions how to use.
Daniel Roulston –
Manufacturer website is buggy.
The product itself is very well built and easy to use. The manufacturer’s (Foxwell) website has two bugs in it. One is the product registration page. When you input the device’s serial number into the field, you get a “sequence number error” and there is no way around this. I tried it several times all with the same conclusion. The second is the Support Page (via your user name in the top right) — Support Tickets — +New Complaint. I was wanting to create a ticket for the registration issue but couldn’t because there are several fields in the +New Complaint page that couldn’t be filled out or didn’t have any pre-existing data to input. Hence the 3 stars.

A great buy
It’s good product good quality

Well made unit
I had to find a USB cable to do the update on it and was able to complete that. It’s a legacy USB cable so good luck finding one. I just happened to keep all my old cables and had one, there are adapter kits for USB that would work you can buy. It’s a well-made unit and seems to work well too. Easy to use…

It does exactly what it says it does.
Knowing it was so inexpensive I didn’t set my sights too high. I was pleasantly surprised. Make no mistake…this is NOT a high dollar diagnostic tool which are $600+. But it pulled the error code and was very easy to use. In order to at least understand the problem and what codes are active BEFORE you have to pay someone to diagnose it….saves you money the first time you use it. I would recommend this product.
David Thomas –
Gave me a useless code
I bought this to diagnose a check engine light on my Porsche. It produced a code number, but that number doesn’t exist in the Porsche diagnostic codes. The number before and after are in the factory diagnostic list, but not this number. I’ll keep it for other diagnosis and on other cats.
Okleftovers –
Didn’t read anything
I returned it after I updated and tried to read 3 different vehicles. Dodge and Chevy and i couldn’t get it to read any of the vehicles before or after the update. They did give me my money back for it, but very disappointed in it.

Maxx Malone –
It works as expected
Reads codes, clears codes, run tests… I have no complaints… 4 stars cause everything can be improved…
fred tricoche –
Quality and value for the money
This product definitely is a must, will help you to know what is wrong before you take it to a mechanic that can fill your head with a lot of nothing in order to drive up the cost of the repair, but knowing what’s wrong before it get to that and researching to know a typical price for whatever the code was is very helpful in saving your money.

Code Scanner works, 12V Battery tester/diagnostic does not.
The code scanner/eraser Fx work, but I bought this primarily for the 12V battery tester/diagnostic features. Those do not work: the unit only displays “check connection” for battery tests whether batt is in car or out of car. Firmware updated, with no luck. Interestingly, (tellingly?) the NT201Plus User Manual has zero information re: the 12V battery test features. Not one word. Including, “check connection.” Basic OCD2 code readers/cancellers are less than $20. I’d not recommend this a unit to anyone interested in the battery/cranking/charging features; all you’ll see is “check connection.”
Q. Dang –
Does not work even after software updates
Just gives me one screen when booting up. Installed the software updates and it just still shows that one screen. Press setup, just one screen, press I/M just that one screen Now I’m concerned if there is spyware in the software update. Utter waste of time and effort. Do. Not. Buy.

Works well
Got this the other day. Needed something better then the little blue one I have. This meter has a lot of bells and whistles. Works real well.
Amazon Customer –
Works, but was shipped unsealed
Seems fine, read a code. Didn’t like that the shipping label was slapped right onto the product box and wasn’t even sealed. Normally there would be an amazon box around it or something. I assume it was returned by someone else so I worried parts could be missing or the thing doesn’t work, but it’s ok so far.
Erica –
Exactly as pictured and described
Exactly as described and pictured
Shopchief –
Easy to use
It didn’t come with a written manual but operation of features is fairly easy.
Fran –
Working as expected so far and okay for the money
It was purchased to check codes and to make sure that the cars were ready for inspection. It was used on 2010 Honda Civic and 2007 Ford Explorer. When performing the OBD scan, the Civic gives the option to check transmission or engine but the Ford does not. Not sure if that’s because of the specific make/model of the vehicle or the year of the vehicle. Also works well when checking regular batteries and EFB So far it’s working as expected. Still need to for a situation where we’d need to check for codes.
Maribel guerrero –
Entendible!!!
Fácil de leer y entender
James Moffitt –
This device is very accurate.
I like it because you can check you charging system, battery, and engine codes without using a different scanner .
