A Closer Look: Advantages and Disadvantages of the Product
The product under review appears to be a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner, which has garnered a mix of reactions from users. A significant number of customers have expressed satisfaction with its performance. For instance, Frank Self praised it for its “great performance, good value for the money”, indicating a positive cost-to-benefit ratio. Another user, Denise Franke, highlighted the device’s pet-friendliness and its adept navigation around furniture, with the statement: “Doesn’t bother the dogs and navigates changing dining room chair legs with ease”. Users like Georgia Shopper have found it “very easy to set up” and enjoyable to observe as the Roomba learns and adapts to the layout of their homes. UniqueHarleyMan noted that the vacuum “picked up a lot I did not see previously” and “cleaned my rugs excellently”, suggesting a thorough cleaning capability.
Others have found the self-emptying feature highly convenient, saving them the hassle of manually emptying the dustbin. Additionally, the model’s ability to work on various surfaces, including hardwood floors and carpets, has been a plus for customers like Nicholas Curwood-Wagner, who finds that the “floor is now perfect” in a home with pets and different floor types. The integration with home automation systems and the informative app that provides updates and pictures has been cited as a benefit for tech-savvy users.
However, the product has not been without its criticisms. A recurrent theme among dissatisfied customers, like Lori Renken and Paul, is the poor customer service experience, with Lori recounting a situation where the “seller wouldn’t respond to my email and their mailbox is full”. Christopher James expressed disappointment in the product’s longevity, reporting that it “completely stopped working” just after a year. Similarly, Byron Houston lamented over the need for frequent replacements and repairs, calling it “100% garbage. UPDATE: STILL GARBAGE”.
Some users reported issues with the Roomba’s navigation system; for example, Lamont Granquist found that it “bumps into everything” and had issues with ignoring the fencing designed to keep it within certain areas. Arizona and others have been disappointed with its performance around edges and in the presence of pet hair. There are also reports of technical issues and a lack of effective support to resolve them, with users like Dr. X and LAwoman sharing frustrating experiences of trying to get their Roomba to work correctly again after encountering errors. EC experienced the vacuum stopping “after 10 minutes” without explanation, leading to a feeling of wasted investment.
Overall, while some users report that the Roomba has significantly improved their cleaning routine and is well worth the investment, there are considerable concerns about customer service, technical support, and the device’s reliability over time. Potential buyers might weigh these aspects carefully against the convenience and features the Roomba offers.
What do the stars speak of?
Opinions about this product were divided in such a proportion among the buyers.
Four stars after first day. Left some lumps of dog hair, but overall got 98% of it. Picked up a lot I did not see previously. Cleaned my rugs excellently. So, if you have tile floors with rugs and a German Shepherd, I highly recommend.
It is loud, it bumps into everything, you can’t turn off the edging so it takes forever, it is real aggressive in its attempts to bash into anything left around, and tries its best to mount anything left around. I’m finding the reviews of other units pretty persuasive and will probably try a different robot with better navigation in the robot itself. The mapping isn’t quite really worth it. It also has all the usual issues with Roomba’s occasionally going nuts and going places it shouldn’t be (ignoring the fencing that is supposed to be a selling point of the mapping) and getting into trouble.

8. What happens if the Roomba j7+’s battery runs low during a cleaning session?
If the battery runs low, the Roomba j7+ will automatically return to its charging base to recharge. With Smart Recharge and Resume, it charges only as long as needed before it resumes cleaning to finish the job, ensuring an efficient cleaning process.

Worst Robot Vacuum I’ve owned
Constantly gets lost and stuck on even small transitions from carpet to hard floor. Roams without vacuuming because it’s lost. Doesn’t pick up cat litter, the sweeper brush just knocks it all around the floor. Crap suction will barely pick up anything from carpeting. I’ve owned older iRobot vacuums that performed miles above this box of garbage. SKIP THIS VACUUM and save yourself the headaches.

Worst Roomba yet
This Roomba constantly does not go off at d Hercules time. It’s usually because it does not dock properly and charge. The rollers Jane to be cleaned daily pet hair wraps around them. I always have to mess around with it to get it at the exact spot to charge.

Cleaning Machine
The Roomba is a nice machine and cleans well. I especially like the smart mapping feature, I can send it to a specific location and it goes to work.
Sean M Fordham –
Great product! Great business!
The J7 works fantastic taking care of the floors. We have 2 dogs that shed like crazy and this thing really keeps up.
M. Castronova –
You need this guy!
I hate most things, every product sucks to some degree, LIFE IS DISAPPOINTMENT- until your Roomba J7+! Just get it, spend the money you don’t have because the world is a scam, but at least your floors will be debris free!
Tony Luciano –
Seems decent.
It cleans hard floors nicely. It knocks over some light decorative items. It sounds like it struggles on a plush carpet. It was struggle to get set up on the phone but seems to be ok once the app is set. It is loud on the hard floor and that is compounded by our high ceilings.
Jordy –
this roomba i regret buying more and more every day.
This Romba has always had glitches like going into blocked areas on its map, ruined a Christmas tree skirt that was hand made. This thig over the last 2 years looses its way. Doesn’t go to rooms on the map. gets “stuck on a cliff” a small elevated rug, less than a half inch. And I check, I have full bars for wifi. Sends me notifications that its stuck, can you help? It isnt stuck!, its battery died 6 inches from its dock. I went a whole week without it running because it “couldn’t connect” Thank Goodness I kept my real vacuum I was having problems with it just not finishing its job, but they did something and it worked until -> Now its not even getting on the docking station (home base) correctly. Today 7/15/24 it came off the base, went backwards & forwards more than 8 times. It did that 3 or 4 cycles with 8 up and back. What a crazy purchase

Not sure about this vendor.
The robot works well so far but came in a Box with no instructions and the bottom of the box said refurb. Also missing the extra brush. Very disappointed with this experience.
Teresa Connelly –
Seller sold as new, it was refurbished and did not work.
Product did not vacuum, it stated it was new when I bought it, but when I called iRobot for help they told me it was refurbished and I would have to buy a new cleaning head, warranty was no good.
Kathleen –
Refurbished!!!
I was so excited to receive our vacuum to find out it was refurbished. This is not stated on the product details. For this price I thought it was brand new!!!
IP Strategist –
Total Scam
Not new like in the description. Registered to someone else’s account. No QR code. No paperwork. Roomba said not an authorized reseller, so they couldn’t help. Could not reset. Stay away from these people.
s.wiedel –
The update ruined the vacuum.
I can not say anything good about this product after the new update on 4-30-2024. It won’t mop saying to attach a mopping pad. It’s attached. Would not recommend it to anyone. Next time I’ll go with a different brand.

iRobot does not necessarily honor the warrantly if you buy from Amazon.
I have been a loyal Roomba user for the last 18 years. I’ve have at least seven models and I have loved them. I bought a new J7+ in January and it’s been giving me trouble for the past month. I believe the cleaning head module is bad (based on previous experience). So I called iRobot and was told that they wouldn’t honor my warranty because Amazon wasn’t listed as the vendor (even though I bought it through Amazon). I expected the warranty to be based on the purchase date. For the record, I will buy from iRobot again because they have the best product. But I will never recommend a Roomba to anyone again.

It’s so quiet!
I had to replace my older Roomba due to a pooptrastophy and adamant I’d pay a small fortune for a robot that would avoid pet waste even though I was pretty sure that didn’t exist. Well, I was wrong and this thing does that and more! Worth every penny!! I’ve actually seen it avoid stuff on the ground it thinks might be a pet mess. It’s also found stuff under the couch and sent me a picture wondering if it’s a temporary obstacle. (Hello shoe that I thought I’d lost.) It has a schedule and starts up all on it’s own, and it mapped the house and has an editing feature to delineate specific areas so I can tell it to clean a particular space at any time. It empties itself. And yeah, it’s loud when it empties but that takes about 10 seconds and it’s emptying itself! I almost never have to touch it at all. (Although, I do say thank you and hope it’ll remember my kindness when the robot uprising comes.) Best of all though, it’s incredibly quiet. The old Roomba really irritated my husband’s tinnitus but this one can barely be heard while it’s running and it does a far better job of getting dust and hair. It is a bit demanding when it comes to changing the filter and dust bag. I really think it could go longer between changing those out and there is an override which I use to get a bit more use out of those. But other than that it couldn’t be more perfect.

Fire Hazzard
Do you have pets? If so then do not get this. I have two dogs who shed. For the first two days it worked ok, but left large chunks of dog hair randomly around the house. On day 4 I got a notification that he needed cleaning. I cleaned the brushes and he kept going. Day 5, stuck, day 6 cleaning. On day 7 he started to smell like burnt hair. Luckily I was home and shut him off. I took the entire thing apart and found hair lodged in different places. Day 8 he ran for 20min then stopped again…… not worth the money if I have to take it apart everyday. My shark vacuum works better and won’t start a fire when I’m not home.

Happy Wife
We wanted to get one of these for a while. We have a dog that sheds all the time, and no matter how many times you clean the floors there is always some dog hair. This Roomba vacuum takes care of keeping our floors vacuumed and we no longer have to worry about missing dog hair, or getting into places that are hard to clean with our Kirby vacuum cleaner.

Best gift EVER!
I love this little thing. I named it ‘the maid’. Perfect clean, every time! Easy to program, easy to change the bags. Has some difficulty with high plush carpets, but will go from wood flooring to tile to carpet with NO problem! BEST GIFT EVER!!!!
Lori Renken –
Horrible customer service!
Product came damaged when delivered. I Called customer support 3 times and they told me to contact the seller. Seller wouldn’t respond to my email and their mail box is full. We had to pay for shipping to send the damaged product. It does not work, tech support from Roomba said the sensor is damaged.

Doesn’t bother the dogs and navigates changing dining room chair legs with ease
The media could not be loaded. Doesn’t bother the dogs and navigates dining room chair legs with ease. Great coverage! Picks up everything. Adapts to moved furniture. Empties itself. 4 paws up! Five stars! No more dust bunnies under the beds and couch! Best purchase I’ve made in years! #alfiesbigadventure #giselleshappytails
Christopher James –
Waste of $800
Just after 1 year, the the vacuum completely stopped working. Vacuum will sit and travel in front of base and get lost while it is there. Huge waste of money. This Vacuum is just not good quality and support is horrible.
Byron Houston –
100% garbage. UPDATE: STILL GARBAGE
No redeeming quality at all. Huge piece of garbage and this company should go out of business. I can’t figure out how this junk is still sold. Edit: still a piece of junk. Replaced head unit, dead again. Garbage garbage garbage. Worst company.
Arizona –
Disappointing
I got this for the constant dog hair. It does fine through the middle of the room, but does a bad job around the outer parts of the rugs. It leaves tufts of hair around, including on the kitchen floor.
Paul –
No technical support. do not buy
poor quality. no technical support at all
Georgia Shopper –
Wow, impressive!
It took us years to decide to buy a Roomba, now I wish I would have bought one earlier. This was very easy to set up and watching Roomba learn the house has been fun and easy to train. Every time she cleans, she learns more about the house and establishing a pattern. We have many carpeted rooms as well as hardwood floors and area rugs. No problem! Naming her was fun, giving her boundaries and receiving updates from her as well as pictures is a plus.
UniqueHarleyMan –
Works very well on tile/rugs with German Shepard dog hair
Four stars after first day. Left some lumps of dog hair, but overall got 98% of it. Picked up a lot I did not see previously. Cleaned my rugs excellently. So, if you have tile floors with rugs and a German Shepherd, I highly recommend.

The auto empty bin is nice but I miss my old “dumb” 980
It is loud, it bumps into everything, you can’t turn off the edging so it takes forever, it is real aggressive in its attempts to bash into anything left around, and tries its best to mount anything left around. I’m finding the reviews of other units pretty persuasive and will probably try a different robot with better navigation in the robot itself. The mapping isn’t quite really worth it. Works well
Only problem is there is an order when running. But cleans well

Keeping a machine working more than 3 months.⁹
Not worth the money
Farbeyond Publishing LLC –
My 3rd robotic vacuum, very impressed
With 2 cats, hardwood, tile, and carpet surfaces, the Roomba 7/self-empty model is a massive upgrade over competitors models that required constant oversight, and getting fur out of the brushes. One month into ownership, I’ve not cleared the brushes once and their design keeps them clear. The set-up of your floor plan in the app could be easier, but a small investment of time and some trial-and-error gets you to a great spot.
Nicholas Curwood-Wagner –
Works perfectly
Have a border Collie who sheds everywhere. And sand from the beach. The floor is now perfect. Highly recommended
EC –
Not worth it
Stopped working, just stops running after 10 minutes. No reason why, app not helpful. Waste of money!
Stacy Robbins –
Returned
Had trouble getting it to dock. Had to keep resetting it. Returned it
Dr. X –
Waste of time and money. VERY expensive paperweight.
Looks like a quality piece when you take it out of the box. Apple-esque build and presentation. Setup is easy and the app looks fine. Then, one week into use, it stops cleaning and giving me the j26 error (insufficient air flow). OK, nice troubleshooting instructions in the app. Many steps involved, but logical. There is some hair around the shaft of the rollers and the filter is very dusty, but nothing unexpected. After spending more than an hour troubleshooting it, cleaning it, taking it apart (per instructions), and rebooting it, it goes about 20 feet, stops, and continues to give me the same error. Really, after 1 week of use??? Now I go on Amazon and see it’s dropped in price by $200. Ouch. Still, even at $600 this is unacceptable. I’m going to try contacting iRobot and see if they’ll honor my warranty since I bought it from Amazon. More time wasted…
LAwoman –
Lots of Frustration
Loved it until month 4. It cleaned fine. Began squealing loudly. They sent a new cleaning head module. For noise? Did not fix. Sent a replacement unit that was a major hassle to set up. They told me I would be able to use the same map already created from the first one. Not true. Had to start over again with hours of mapping. After 30 days. It had not yet run a full scheduled clean without incident. The hold time for Tech Support is horrendous and when you do speak to them. They don’t have a resolution. They tell you to do the same 2 things every time. If that doesn’t work. They’re lost and rushing you off the phone with lies. On the fownside is that you can’t watch it in live mode and see where it is while cleaning is in progress. Some of the cheaper brands have this. For the price. I would expect iRobot to have this. Very disappointed. Had high hopes. Especially, for the price. Only had it 5 months and it’s constantly failing
Rodney Phillips –
Not bad
Works as expected
Rumblesink –
Service is nonexistent!
Worked great for about 9 months, then the home base stopped running when Roomba was docked. Worked with Roomba by phone and it was decided that the base had a known issue and would be replaced. It never came, despite multiple calls. Roomba first blamed it on shipment issues related to COVID-19; understandable but WE HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING FOR 2 YEARS AND STILL NO REPLACEMENT!! Amazon will not refund because it’s outside their return window so we are stuck with an $800+ dust collector, not a dust remover! I would never buy another ROOMBA product because I don’t believe they will support it.
