    Worth the money

This is the second one I have bought, my first one I ended up giving to my in-law so I bought another. Here are my main points. 1. Tech Support- Haven’t had to deal with tech support much because the scanner works good enough to never really need them. 2. Easy to use- Yeah, it is, but it also has some more complex features. 3. User Interface- This is where I have the problem. I have the app on my radio but it’s almost useless because not all of the features are usable in landscape mode, which is what most android based radios use. I feel like this would be something rather easy to fix, and should have been something thought about by the app developer. With that being said, that’s the reason I would have to rate it a 3/5. Nice solid product, but I feel like its lacking some features.

it does not work on e m350 bluetech

I have been trying to get smog check for months. The big issue, I try to hook this to bluetooth and it says connected. By the time I get to the app to press on song check it disconnects from Bluetooth. This is only seconds. This is my second unit and I got in trouble with Mercedes stating I am not allowed to hook anything to the port or I may loose the warranty. I tried go by there instruction so many time it broke the port. It is very difficult to un plug and re plug it in. What next. it won’t pass, I have $5,000.00 in this and dead in the water. Don’t buy this thing.

Worth its weight in gold. I have a 99 ranger and occasionally stuff happens and I can see exactly what’s going on. Easily clear codes. Paid for itself ten times over. My fav part is I can see stuff in real time while driving too. Intake temp etc.

One of the better items I’ve spent money on

This little OBD2 device is excellent. It interfaces with an app on the phone, is simple to use, quickly answers “what’s this check engine light for”, and provides live data logging.

    Works as advertised…

This is my second Bluedriver… only reason I bought a second one is because the dealership I took my vehicle to stole the last one I kept in my center console.

    It’s a code reader…

I’m not sure what makes this scanner so highly rated. It can’t detect any brake system errors on my 2020 Ford Explorer, nor can it put the vehicle in brake service mode or take it out. Additionally, it can’t test or calibrate anything. I fail to see why this $100 Bluetooth dongle is worth more than the $20 scanner I already own. Hooked up to a $1,000 phone, I expected better performance and capabilities. Disappointing and not worth the investment.

    Doesn’t support Transmission Temerature

Bought this expensive scanner thinking that it would provide the most comprehensive data display for my vehicles. Only to find out that it does NOT support Toyota transmission temperature reading (which is a must-have service procedure for my SUV). A $15 ELM 327 compatible scanner with $5 phone App (e.g. OBD Fusion) could do this…. Very disappointing.

    Battery Killer

I’ve used this device a handful of times, mostly while my car is running to read codes. Each time I have had increased battery issues, years apart with a different car battery and even a different alternator. both times I had a completely dead battery within a week of using, following the instructions provided with the device. It also has caused error codes related to “VCM communication failures” which only surface after using the device.

    Works like a charm.

I’ve used less expensive ones and have been frustrated with the usage. I plugged this in and it pulled up my vehicle and gave all of the relevant info. Actually I thought it was amazing.

    Well worth buying!

I love that it was an easy setup on my Apple cellphone. I was up and running scans on my cars within minutes of product arrival. I saved some major bucks on dealer investigations and had them replace both of my oxygen sensors. No more emissions system error popups!

Good scanner but not quite worth the money

I have a 2004 Toyota Highlander that Ive been keeping going. It threw a code and I bought this to make things easy. I own a scan tool but i figured this would be more convenient, which it was but it is just so slow. I get it, I may be impatient but it’s a computer reading information from another computer, it’s not too intensive. It took about 5 minutes to scan for the code and thats not including the other 5+ minutes it took the app to just connect to the sensor itself. I had multiple times when I would go to scan for more codes, clear codes, etc. and it would get to 98% before stating that it lost connection. This thing is worth $50, max.

Easy to install and connect to phone.

This has been a very useful tool. I had no problem getting the app installed (Android) and connecting the scanner. The interface has some complexity, but is quickly sorted out if you have a bit of time. Once you know where to look for the data, it is easy and gives code meaning, basic diagnostic, and even points to possible solutions.

    Only for beginners

This scanner only has 9 pins instead of the full 16. It only reads codes from the ECU and maybe the PCM, I have a code for a short circuit in the drivers door and a transmission code that this scanner completely missed. Only decent for a schmuck trying to diagnose a bad spark plug, not for any real use.

setup required calling suuport, TPMS feature is just Google

The online tutorials are quite well done and generally informative. However, instructions in the one about matching bluedriver to Android phone simply don’t work. The support person gave me a different set of instructions and that did work. but I shouldn’t have had to call; that’s just bad. then I found that the TPMS reset “function” is absolutely nothing more than lmgtfy.com. The app just puts up instructions that say (in the case of my car) “drive car at X speed for Y minutes and it’ll reset itself”. Well thanks… I wouldn’t have been able to find that terribly helpful information in any other way. The device itself performs no role whatsoever in the reset process.

    Don’t waste your money

Don’t even bother. Once you buy the scanner then you have to buy a subscription and then you have to buy a QR code scanner service for your phone. The one that the device triggers has a one star rating and the only review I can see on the service is that it is most likely a scam to get your information. All in all By the time you By all the services that you need you might as well buy a real scanner that’s self supported

Very useful, but should be less expensive.

Provides useful information clearly. Easy to reset check engine light. The application updates periodically making obsolescence a non factor. Connection is unreliable. Doesn’t connect to Bluetooth easily. It’s also overpriced and expensive. Should cost $59 to $69.

Recommended by Car and Driver staff – good enough for me!

I read several reviews and selected a unit that didn’t cost a lot and wasn’t too inexpensive. I know that the inexpensive units report just as well or well enough to report what’s going on with my vehicle. The Bluedriver unit gets high marks for the user interface and customer support. I haven’t had to use support so I don’t know. The Bluedriver gets software updates so everything stays up to date. A plus in my opinion. One thing to consider is if you want a wired connection rather than a Bluetooth connection. I wanted to monitor the vehicle while driving and didn’t want a wire. So far, I’m happy.
