    Customer service will not respond.

I bought this litter box a little over a year ago, and thought it was a high quality unit with a few quirks; the max line on the clean letter tray is a little high, so new litter gets cycled into the wast compartment if you fill it up all the way and sometimes the waste compartment would register as full when it just needed a little shake. Now that I have had it a year the infrared censors that indicate when the waste compartment is full have failed (likely from moisture getting into the electronics, it is a litter box after all). It seemed to me like it would be easy enough to replace this part but I got no support from Pawbby’s customer service and was unable to find this or a comparable replacement part online and since the warranty only lasts a year that option was out too. I ended up replacing it with a self cleaning cat pan from another company. It was a disappointment.

    Pawbby support will not respond!

Litter box is defective and stopped working after a few months. For months, I have been trying to contact Pawbby about the error messages I have been getting for months. I have tried everything and I took good care of it. I tried contacting the manufacturer by email, through Amazon, and by phone. I cannot reach anyone and no one has responded. Additionally, Amazon cannot assist me as the defects began presenting themselves after the 30 days. Pawbby needs to contact me to fix this issue immediately.

    Great for 9 months

It’s great for 9 months. Customer service handled issues/defects early on, but 9 months later it’s useless as is customer service. The problem is, it’s a feature that if it “thinks” there’s not enough litter in it, it won’t do anything. So, you empty the litter, and put fresh litter in up to the max level, or any level, and its sensors say “cat litter depleted,” and it won’t do any of the functions. So, it’s now a $60” cute looking manual scoop litter box. I tried everything forwards and backwards, factory resets, deep clean. I have mechanical and electrical skills, and I keep going back day after day, waiting on customer service to email back while calling and getting a fake voicemail (no identifying who it is, and not even hearing a beep after the “leave a message” message) with no luck. Beyond frustrating. A+ for 9 months, and an F- for the past 4 days, as it’s now but a clumpy pee-turd. 🙁 I’ll up the stars if customer service responds within a week, but for god’s sake let the user over ride a bad sensor!

Thought this would be better…its just marginally easier than scooping

I recently became disabled and need help with taking care of my cats. Scooping and cleaning the litter box daily became to much for me so I thought this would help. I liked the modern look of the box to fit the MCM theme in my home. The price point was in the median range as I cant afford a thousand bucks for the name brand model. The box was easy to assemble and after some initial problems with syncing the app I was able to control functionality from my phone and check on the status of the litter level and my cats bathroom activities easily. YAY! But thats where it ended. I seldom get notifications so I dont know when the litter level is low or the tray needs changing or the machine is stuck. Tried different settings on the app, but still no error notifications. I have to manually check on the machine on a daily basis multiple times. It gets “stuck” in a mode like “litter tray needs emptying” and it stops functioning until you remove the litter tray and clear it….and sometimes there’s very little in it….certainly not enough to warrant a change. SO I dont know why it wants me to change an semi-empty litter tray, but it wont work again until I do. I have to unplug, disassemble, and then reset to clear the machine so it functions on its own again. This is too much work for a “robot”…and a disabled person. Its also quite small so my 14 lb male has trouble getting in and out, he often has litter stuck to his back from standing inside touching the wall. So if your cat is bigger, this one is not for you. The bags are also proprietary and dont hold a lot. Tried some of the generics and they dont work well, the litter drawer is really fussy and will get hung up and then register an error if I dont use their bags, which are expensive IMO, but they are at least good quality. Anyway my robot experience has not been a good one, more work than expected, but it is marginally better than having to bend over and scoop every day….now its just changing the litter tray a couple of times a week and disassembling and cleaning once a month….clearing frequent machine errors….and the extra expense of litter bags.

    Don’t waste your money

I have 7 cats and use 3 robot litter boxes from 3 different brands and 3 non-robot litter boxes. The Pawbby brand drew me because of the aesthetic especially since I wanted to use it in my closet. In the beginning all was fine. Over time, problems surfaced…I was never able to connect to the wifi because of the inability to change my router frequency…which in actuality has had little impact as it still functions without it; the sensors are easily gummed up and you have to back track to find the area that needs to be “ungunked”; it takes WAY too long for it to go through a single clean cycle. Seriously, this is crazy how long it goes back and forth before and after it cycles around to sift and empty.; it doesn’t hold much litter and easily gets confused about the weight and sometimes thinks a cat is left in there after it has gone partially through the clean cycle. Frustrating! ; the removable base has stretched and the motor is running out of steam after a year plus of use and there are no replacement parts that I can find. Overall, would I purchase or recommend this product? No, absolutely not. Please save your money.

CHEAP – You get what you pay for

This thing wreaks of ammonia all the time. It doesn’t filter out poop smaller than a quarter. Somehow the litter box in the bottom always has a puddle of urine underneath the bag. You have to rub your hand inside the bottom lip of the front opening to remove the sticky, caked up litter and then run the litter box again to remove the ammonia ridden litter. But even the best clumping litter doesn’t help with this machine. The litter falls in between the front of the machine and the car litter compartment. Cleaning this thing is way harder than their instructional videos show. The main base is several parts (they recommend just wiping it down) and is treated like one piece. The litter and urine that leaks through the cracks gets in the cracks of the main base as well. The longer I have this, it gets worse to clean every time. You have to clean this once every four days to keep the smell down. The deodorizing pods barely help and get covered in litter when the machine dumps below. Just spend the extra $300 and get a Litter Robot. I’m sure the newer high end model of PAWBBY is better, but I have a feeling they cut corners on the cost to produce it, which reflects on the product within the first year of purchase. This is one of my regrets instead sifting for Poop every day. It makes your life easier for a week, and then it’s an hour or two of cleaning and waiting for it to dry out before adding litter, so you’ll need an additional basic litter box to put litter while your cat waits.

My girls love it, use it everyday, and it looks great in our home! It’s stylish and fits right in. The app is really awesome too – It weighs each cat every time they use it, and you’re able to label who is who in the app based on their weight. It’s fun then when it alerts you, “Mila just left the toilet staying 11” weighing 7.2 lbs”. I love it. So much. Haha! It also lets you know when the litter is low, when the odor filter needs replaced, and allows you to control a manual cleaning, manual leveling, etc. It acts as a remote as well. High-quality, highly recommend. I love this box, and so do my cats and guests who visit!

SO Stinky, can’t clean it all the way

So this is supposed to be one of the best self cleaning litter boxes but if your cat is a big fat dummy like mine is and sometimes pees out the front on accident, you can’t clean it. There’s a ledge on the front that’s not sealed to the rest of the litter box housing, and urine gets in the crack and there’s no way to disassemble the litter box to clean it out. I’m about to throw away a $700 litter box because I cannot clean it properly and my house smells worse than when I was just using $25 trays.. If your cat is perfect and always goes in the back of the box you’ll probably be fine but I am very disappointed.

    Not worth the money

I was so excited for this product because it was an automatic litter box, came with a cool app, and ISN’T UGLY. It matches with a lot of my furniture. I don’t have a random closet I can put my cat box in, so I didn’t want something ugly out in the open. Shouldn’t be that hard. This fit the bill for those reasons. My husband has to totally deconstruct this litter box once a week and wash it with vinegar and soap to ensure our home doesn’t smell like cat excrement. The litter box doesn’t always (usually) do a good job of sifting her poop, so she gets upset and wants to go back in there and bury it (making a huge mess everywhere). But, from an animal lover perspective, the worst part is that it’s very small. She (is a normal size house cat, we’re not talking manecoon over here) is all scrunched up in there when she’s trying to do her thing. It’s upsetting. TL;Dr version the box is too small for animals (sometimes she misses) & it doesn’t do a good job of being clean so it smells and you have to deconstruct it to clean it. Yuck. I’m really really upset, because for the price…. We’re going to have to look for another one & that was expensive. I feel like I threw away $600. I waited 7 months to write my review because I thought us and the cat needed a learning curve. No, the product just sucks & I’m stubborn because I care about “aesthetics”

Great solution for 2 cat household

We’ve had cats for years, and finally decided to try one of these auto-litter boxes. We researched quite a bit, but, in all honesty, we chose this particular unit because of the way it looks: all the other options were white, gray or black, and essentially a big “ball”. We read the reviews on this PAWBBY, waited for one of the Amazon ‘coupons’ to cut the price a little, and decided to take the chance. The unit was very easy to set up, and the only issue we had was we initially pressed the wrong button and all of the new litter dumped into the bottom tray, lol. But once we re-added it to the main chamber, we just let it do its thing: and the cats took to it immediately. Overall, this unit is solid, very quiet, and so far seems to work flawlessly. It senses the cats well (and even handled their initial curiosity, going in/out/in/out when it was trying to clean). So far we’ve use Scoop Away brand litter (bulk from Costco), and it works very well! The fact that it cleans immediately after use means that very little litter is wasted. The Scoop Away is a lot heavier than, say, “Hardball” and in normal litter boxes can tend to stick to the sides if left. So far there’s been no sticking or over-clumping, which is great. There’s very little odor, too. The bottom box comes with a scent insert, but the fact that the waste is physically separated keeps the smell contained to a large degree. Also: if your litter has odor blockers, or a scent of its own, that will obviously help, too. We were hopeful that the unit would cut down on odor, because we have to keep the box downstairs near our common area. And so far we’ve been pleasantly surprised with noise/smell. Not sure about long-term use, but the quality seems very good. The mechanisms seem simple and reliable, and we are very pleased. It’s only been a few weeks, but we hope to get at least a few years out of this thing.

One of thebest purchases I’ve ever made

Let me start by saying, I have 5 adult cats (don’t come at me, there’s a back story). My cats were used to being outside where they did their “business” where I never really had to worry about litter, the smell, the clean-up, etc. Due to a lifestyle disruption, I had to move into a much smaller space (500sqft) where they are inside all day until I can get my enclosure built. I dealt with cat litter and the smell and all the gross things for about a year until I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was about to leave on vacation and could not subject my mother (who doesn’t like cats) to cleaning up their mess every day while I was gone. So, I bit the bullet and made the purchase. BEST. DECISION. EVER. PAWBBY, you know what you’re doing!! This thing is so quiet, I don’t even hear it cleaning. It notifies me when my litter bin is full, what cat went to the bathroom, when, and how many times. It lets me know when I need to add litter, and it’s so easy to use! I thought with it being so techy it would be kind of difficult, but even my mother (who hates technology) was able to use this thing without issues. It’s only been a couple weeks, but so far I am very pleased.

We purchased this self cleaning litter box in hopes that it would do the majority of the work. We find many issues with it involving the cleaning process. If you have two or more cats and one uses the potty box once he leaves, it begins to clean if the other cat comes over, it stops in the middle of it cleaning, and the cat ends up falling through the trap or pooping sideways because it never finished cleaning. The phone number that they provide is bogus does not work. The email address to reply back doesn’t work either yet. Google provided me with a similar address but, once again, they didn’t respond.

    Too good to be true

The allure of a clean modern design that is self cleaning turns out too good to be true – At a high price. First off the app is bad. There is an option to turn off all notifications or get all of them. I don’t need a notification every time the cat uses the box, however a notification that the box is full is useful. When you get 3 notifications a day you start to ignore them, defeating the purpose. The next is that the fabric under the litter starts to absorb the SMELLS. Good luck getting rid of that. Whatever room this thing lives in, smells like a cats bathroom. It does not contain the smell. The deodorizing pod does nothing. Last but not least the unit is HUGE, but the hole to get in is small. The box on the inside is relatively small. The cat eventually decided it didn’t like it – Started urinating on the floor right outside. I went through all the OTHER options with the cat, taking to the doctor, etc. for stress / UTI before trying a basic box. It was the box. The cat decided after 6 plus months of use that he was done with this thing. The thought of self scooping / self cleaning is a mirage with this thing. You will be left with a much bigger mess and out 500+ in the long run.

At first we loved the auto sifting of the waste. I do have to change the bag daily for 3 cats. Today we decided to clean out the old litter and found this mess in the drum. Caked on urine. It took 30 minutes of hosing out the litter container. It appears that urine is not being caught in the litter. So it’s just sitting on the sides and caking. I didn’t read any reviews about this. Other than this being a problem, we do like the system. The box is attractive.

Cool looking Self Cleaning Litter Box

My kitties have been using the Pawbby self cleaning litter box since November 2023. I purchased this devise during the holidays when it was on sale. Primary reason of purchase: I wanted to upgrade my cats initial self cleaning litter box to something that looked cool and with better app capabilities while meeting their needs as they both do their business. Pawbby was the winner out of all others available. I particularly like the aesthetic of the machine compared to the one we previously owned. In addition, the app capabilities was what I was looking for which lacked from our other machine. Ease of use: From setting up the machine, pairing with the app, and transitioning my cats was a breeze. The machine has the right amount of parts that you put together in seconds. No tools necessary, so you basically just need to put in place the litter port, lid, and waste compartment. Pairing the machine to the dedicated Pawbby App was easier than expected compared to our other machine. All of the pairing instructions is built in on the app itself. You just follow the instructions, connect to WiFi, and everything is connected. You can still use the machine without the app. But I highly recommend utilizing the app to take full advantage of the machine’s functionality. Transitioning the cats: My cats are pretty adaptable. It helps that this Pawbby machine isn’t their first self cleaning litter box. But I still followed the recommended transition plan, by placing the new device next to the old litter box. In addition to placing used litter to serve as a familiar scent for them. Both my cats used the Pawbby immediately and almost neglected their old one instantly. Pros: The machine fits perfectly where the other device was located. It literally matches my furniture and it doesn’t look out of place like most cat litter boxes are. The aesthetic, app capabilities and options. Ease of use. The machine seems to work as advertised like its competitor. It scoops litter adequately as long as you use the supported clumping litter (I use Tofu litter). The waste compartment holds a great amount of litter (up to 14 days with one cat according to Pawbby). The sensors provide safety features as well as accurately weighing the cats. The OLED display screen on the devise is better than most that I’ve tried which is a great option if you don’t have your phone readily available to use the app. The cat litter mat that it came with is also nice and easy to clean. Cons: No option to purchase replacement parts, so which means I have to buy a brand new machine if something breaks. Some of the internal parts appears like they can be taken apart for cleaning or replacing, but no mention on their manual aside from the obvious big parts. I removed the mesh part inside the primary compartment to clean the litter holder and it almost broke putting it back in place. So I never did not again. Therefore, it is challenging when it comes to cleaning the hard to reach crevices. As a workaround I use water pressure to clean those areas which seems to help. I am not a fan of their deodorizing pod scent which you have the option to use or not. The waste bag they offer is OK, but I prefer a biodegradable one. Aside from these cons, the machine is perfectly fine for normal use and am not planning on purchasing a replacement. Misc: Lastly, I do wash our machine every two weeks since I have 2 cats who likes a frequent clean bathroom as well as I do. Pawbby does recommend cleaning their machine once a month. But I do empty the waste compartment once or twice a day as I personally do not like to like leaving used litter over night. The machine does help mask the odor with or without the deodorizing pods.

Fantastic for people who hate cleaning littler boxes

My favorite part is that it pretty and fits in with my apartment’s aesthetic. The app works perfectly, as do the sensors. It did take me forever to get it connected to my wifi, but once it was connected, it hasn’t had issues. Have have two cats. One of them took to using it immediately with zero adjustment period. However it’s taken me two months to get my other one to use it. The only con against the auto litter box is that it does not do a good job at holding in the smell of the waste basket. I find myself emptying the bin every other day if not daily. That said, I do have two cats and live in the tropics and always have my widows open with no a/c. I’m going to get some carbon filters and see if that helps more than the Pawbby filter, which doesn’t help at all. Although the container is nice. Other than that, I highly recommend. On a side note, the entrance id pretty small so if you have large cats the Pawbby may not be for you. Thankfully both my cats are on the smaller side, weighing no more than 9lbs.

I’ve realized very quickly why we should have gone with a more reputable manufacturer. The fabric litter tray has already started ripping and we’ve had this product a little over a month. Litter clumps in the tray and due to it being fabric, it’s impossible to get out. PAWBBY has been completely silent to my questions regarding a replacement tray, and given the price of this product, it only lasting a month is ridiculous. Avoid at any costs, the aesthetic isn’t worth the frustration or lack of support from a reputable company.

This a VERY expensive product and a customer should be provided with 5-star customer service, yet I believe I haven’t even received one-star service. Just a run around to avoid the fact that this is a bad product that the company should be replacing. Instead, the run around PLUS if you don’t have the box–$100. Oh, and YOU pay the shipping BACK TO CHINA. LIke, what? BEWARE.

    Easy setup!

I just received the PAWBBY litter box today. Unboxing was a breeze. I watched setup videos before its arrival, so setup took about 5 minutes. I’m using world’s best cat litter (plant based litter). the deodorizer that came with the litter box smells great. I’m going to “recycle” the container and purchase another brand of deodorizing gel beads that is a large refill container; it’s half the price. The size of the litter box is great. Not too large that it won’t fit into small spaces like my previous box; yet large enough for the cat to do its “business”. I’ll update later with how kitty has adjusted to the new litter box.

I guess it’s good as what I need!

Honestly I bought this, it is totally because the look. I think this is the prettiest self clean litter box in the market. Second I like this one also because I can put stuffs on top. All the robots are big and take out a lot of space and makes me very hesitate to get one until I see this handsome litter box. This is how I use this litter box. I don’t use the app cos don’t like too many apps in my phone. I turn on the litter and clean up at the morning and night once a day. About two days I take out the waste bag and replace the bag. No time and interests to see my cats weight every day honestly! If I do, I turn on the litter box to see how much weight they are. The reasons I turn on and off the litter cos I found out if the litter starts clean after the cat use it , the litter is still wet and will stick on the wall and make the litter box dirty and smell. I know the app can change the timing of the cleaning but never try it. And if you ask me is it smell good with the litter robot? I will tell you nothing is better than you clean twice a day and throw the waste litter away out of your door. A box storage litters for a week…I am not even want to try it! If you look for a handsome litter box, buy this one. Otherwise I think all robots are pretty much the same unless your cat tries to steal their stools out when the robot is cleaning then you consider the one rotate front to back. Or your cat like open top robot. Speak for your cat…just keep spend more money for them! You will love it!😉 not your cat…they don’t care!

Saved my marriage! Tine roommate stopped peeing on everything!

I’ve had a cat roommate for two years, and since she moved in she has had this issue where she just pees on everything. We have gone to the vet several times to figure out why, but it seems to be nothing but a behavioral issue. I have tried various litter types, various litter boxes, multiple boxes, boxes in different rooms, anti-marking sprays, you name it. I finally decided to buy this automatic box in a last ditch effort to save my marriage – it was coming down to a choice between him and the cat – and OH BOY is this box a miracle worker. I was nervous to get an automatic litter box because they are all SO UGLY, but I found this one and felt like it might actually fit in with our home. A friend came over the other day and described the PAWBBY as looking like a piece of our furniture! And then, the real issue, our little roommates peeing issue. Well, in only one week, she has shown a preference for this litter box over literally EVERYTHING ELSE. Our bed is safe, the laundry is safe, our rugs are safe, it’s a miracle. Worth every penny. The little roommate was a bit nervous about the cleaning cycle, but after 3 days, she’s much less concerned about it and now allows it to do its business after she does hers. I have it set on a timer though, so it cleans 5 minutes after she exits, this way she doesn’t associate any scary technological magic with her own visits to the box. if you are thinking about buying one of these, I say do it. It could save your marriage, and your stuff, and will improve relationships with the tiny roommate.

    Cannot Do Firmware Update

I cannot get this box to ‘Update’. Every time you try to use the app it insists on being updated, and when I attempt to, it stays on picture number two. I thought maybe it just needed all night; so, I left it ‘updating’ for 12 hours and when I came to check? It had done absolutely nothing, hence, 3 stars… because I live the design, and it is working, just not to its full capacity. I’m just not sure if I’m going to keep it! 800.00 is a lot to pay for a box that’s not functioning 100% and I’ll apparently never be able to update… take the litter back out and send it back?!
