I guess this was too powerful for my chevy malibu’s battery. Took on a camping trip to blow up the air matress and it completely killed my battery (less than a month old battery) and left us stranded. Had to call triple a to save the day.

Fails when battery is at 12.2 volts
This inverter works well enough when the car is running or the battery is 100% charged. Unfortunately, it fails when the battery drops to 12.2 volts, which is well over 50% charge. Good inverters cut off at 10.5 volts

Simple power needs
I’ve only used this to pump up an air mattress while camping, but it did that without fail. You could also charge everything at once if you had the right charger connected to this. I think it’s a good unit and better than just running a cheap truck stop plug out of the 12 volt. I haven’t tested it to the max, but it seems to have enough features to not threaten the integrity of the electrical systems of which it is working with

Cigarette lighters are limited to 20A (240 watts). I actually ruined my cigarette lighter because I thought I’d be slick and slip a 25A fuse in my truck to extract the full 300 watts capability (in spite of fact that I bought this to run a 225 watt battery charger) Well…even at 20A, the cigarette lighter plug got so hot that it actually melted my back end of the outlet in my truck, where the 12v OEM plug connects into the main wiring harness. This resulted in fuses shorting out the second I would replace them. $20 later, I had the plug replaced in my car. Since this inverter has its own on/off switch, I snipped the plug off, put on ring terminals and a fuse holder, got a 25amp fuse on, and hardwired it. I figured that I’d manually shut this thing off as needed. That made go from “hate it” to “love it.” Minus one star because it blew my 12v outlet in the truck and made me spend $20 and an hour to fix.

This thing finally gave up the ghost, but feel I got my money’s worth out of it. May tear it apart and see if there’s a fuse or anything I can fix inside of it (but doubt it’s fixable). It was used on a line running to two 100 w solar panels and a 100 w turbine to power the internet modem and wifi during storm power outages and to charge phones, ecigs, and lawn mower batteries. I probably got up to x10 its cost in ‘free’ power out of it over the 4 years. Recommended, will probably buy another.

Don’t waste your money
Ordered this is Feb and it broke after a handful of uses in June. The seller claims to have a 5 year warranty. Well, I have called and left them at least 10 messages to replace my item that is under warranty and they haven’t called me back. I’ve called upwards of 20 times and have never had anyone answer the phone. I called amazon for help and they were also useless, couldn’t help me or do anything at all. Only ONE Problem
It’s great for what it is. The 12V socket limits its available current, so things charge pretty slowly. But it works. Pretty durable feel for its price, and the cord is long enough. The problem is a very loud high pitched whining noise from inside. Somewhere in the power supply circuit I’m guessing. I’m hoping it doesn’t burn out soon or… burn up…

You need one of these in your life. This thing has seen consistent use over the past 7 years. And it has never let us down or skipped a beat. The ability to plug in multiple phones over a long road trip is unbeatable. I’ve even used it to charge a laptop while driving (though I wouldn’t recommend having other things plugged in at the same time). Excellent device with extremely high utility.
