Was nervous this wouldn’t get the job done but it did. Had my car in storage for 9 months and assumed the battery would be dead, which it was. Used this on the completely dead battery and it started instantly. I had to drive around a bit on short trips immediately after jumping it and obviously the battery hadn’t charged yet from the alternator but I whipped this thing out and it started my 2001 Toyota 4Runner 5 more times on one charge. For the price this thing is awesome.
Jump starts my vehicle sometimes works, sometimes drains from 100 to empty and does not even crank over engine. Wish I would have bought one of the bigger models with more cranking amps. If thinking of this get a bigger model if you have a v8 of any size.

I was really hopeful about this after reading many reviews about how fast this would jump start their car. Ive used on two different vehicles and they have both started… Eventually. The first I had to keep it hooked up for about half an hour and after trying to start the car several times, it just drained the battery pack and didn’t start. I had to recharge the battery pack and then go try again. After keeping it hooked up for another 15ish minutes it finally started. For the second vehicle I left it hooked up for about 10 minutes before even trying to start. It didn’t work the first time either. Had to keep it hooked up for another at least 10 minutes and finally got started. Both times I tried the boost button several times. So even tho it did get me jump started, I can’t say it’s a quick 30 second jp like many have stated.

Can only jump dead battery at 100% charge
I have used this AI box to jump a car twice now. The first time it took three tries to get it to jump. The second time it worked the first time that I jumped it. Today, the third time, it would not jump it. I come to find out that if it is not charged to 100%, it will not jump a dead car battery. I also didn’t realize that you can only charge this jumper from a USB cable. You cannot charge it from another vehicles’ battery. This is not very good. So I am giving this three stars. I have used another jumper that does not have a battery in it. It cost a little more, but it will charge off another battery and off the 12 V port in a vehicle within two minutes. That one DID jump the car today.

This item does not jack start vehicle. I just purchased this on December 31,2024 and it did not need to use it until yesterday 2/16/25. My explorers battery was dead and I was trying to use this jump pack to start. Does not work my jump pack was completely charged. Now I can’t return it because I missed the date of 1/31/25. Waste of money.

My friend convinced me to get one of these. He has this same model and brought it over one day when he needed me to load test the battery and alternator in his daughter’s car. The car would not restart when he turned it off. The short of the story is we figured out it was the battery. When he needed to jump start the car to go get a battery, he pulled out this Astro AI S8 jump starter and it started the car with no problems. It was very easy to use. So I got myself one after he walked me through how to use his. Highly recommend. I think the biggest upside to this is never needing to stress your own car battery to start someone else’s car.

This little charger packs a punch for the price. Works well. The jumper cables are a bit short but they work well for my application. Highly recommend this product. Similar name brand products are 4 or 5 times as expensive. Even if this tool last half as long as those do, it’s still a great value for the versatility.

Tested – Started my car without the main battery attached.
I tested this unit by completely detaching the normal battery in my 2.0L Mazda 3. I attached the fully charged Astro AI 8 and, following the instructions, I pressed the Boost button and started my car. The Astro AI used 25% of its power so it should be good for two or three starts without recharging. I’m very pleased with the ease of use and compact size of the unit.

It appears to be a good sturdy unit. But the proof will be if it jumps my bike. I do see that the cables are a bit short, ok if working on a car, but motorcycle batteries are a different breed. So, for now I give it a 4 based on these comments.

This “Jump Starter” got me out of a pinch in a way it was NOT designed to do.. A couple days ago, I was about 100mi from home with my old (2004) Chevy pickup when the “BATT” light came on, and my driver’s display told me “BATTERY NOT CHARGING”. I shut down all non-essential electrical components, and headed straight for home. About 1/2 way there, the turn signals stopped working, and I knew the battery was getting low.. So – without turning off the engine – I hooked up this “Jump Starter” to my low battery, and made it HOME OK ! I now have a new alternator (also from Amazon)..

Better than jumper cables
Directions were clear with great illustrations noting the place for each function. The Jumper Box came with between 50 and 75% charge. It took about a hour to completely charge. My Saturn battery would not even turn over. I hooked up the Jumper Box up to my Saturn battery and it turned over immediately. Also, this Box tells you if you have correctly hooked up to the correct battery terminals or if your battery can’t be charged. Please note. While the item comes with a cable to initially charge their Jumper Box to 100 %, it does not come with a USB-A charger block. You must have one from another source. However since the input to the Jumper Box is USB-C, I assume you could use your own a cable with USB-C on both ends and a USB-C Charger block.

My car started immediately on the first try!
The jump starter was delivered quickly and in good condition, and it worked great to jump my battery after my car had been sitting in cold weather for several days. The starter was already at a 75% charge when it arrived. The only minor issue is that the nylon bag it comes in was not sewn very well around the drawstring, so a lot of frayed threads got caught on the device when pulling it in and out of the bag.

This jump starter is a fantastic deal! I was actually standing in Harbor Freight with one in my hand and thought I should just check Amazon and found this it was actually twice the power and half the price! I have a random issue with my automatic back door in my car and it will occasionally not completely latch and it will cause the marker lights to come on after I walk away killing the battery, this thing takes about 30 seconds to hook up and I’m on my way! Great product would 100% buy again!
