The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Tackles dog hair and huge time saver!!
Highly recommend for dog owners!! I never write reviews but after having for 2+ months I just have to because of how good it is. I bought this specifically because I was going to look after my parents Great Pyrenees mixed dog that sheds a lot. I was nervous and skeptical but it’s been super easy and convenient to use! It does a great job running on both hard surfaces and carpet. I have it set to run everyday at the same time. I never need to think abt it. It’s fairly quiet and I empty the storage compartment abt once a week (since my dog sheds a lot). Emptying only takes abt 5 seconds. The first couple times my dog was a little nervous around it but now she doesn’t care and just goes to a room it’s not in until the robot makes its way there. This little guy is very systematic and efficient when it cleans so it doesn’t randomly bounce everywhere. Setup is very obvious and I love the little reports it spits out – it runs when I’m not home fairly often. I just vacuumed for the first time in 2 months to get some of the areas the robot can’t reach (only 3 tight little spots). Only vacuumed for about 5 minutes.

Self-empty never worked – after 2 replacement units + fees charged to me
I wanted to love this product. The robot cleans fine, though the extended clean and recharge & resume never functioned properly. The self-empty did not work and I placed a claim with Shark and received a replacement robot unit after a video troubleshooting session with the Shark representative in the first 3 weeks we had the unit. The replacement robot unit had the same issues. I called again, as directed by the first agent, and it was determined that an entire new unit was needed. Shark will send it once they receive the defective base unit and replacement robot unit. While both agents were very helpful, I am very frustrated with the quality control for Shark. Additionally, I am now having to pay for the shipping of the return of the unit which is under warranty and has been determined by Shark to be defective. Proceed with caution. PS – the base unit looks like brand new — no dust was ever even pulled through into the self-cleaning base. There is a clear design flaw.

Front side brush falls off all the time
We’ve been through a couple of the front side brushes but they keep falling off. Found some advice online from other frustrated customers, none of the tips worked. Without the side brush the dirt pickup is substantially less. Replacing this soon with another brand.

Worked well but couldn’t go under furniture
The small circle on top (I believe was the eye’s) was up to high for it to go under furniture
Jean B –
Great job
We have long-hair cats so we vacuum a lot. The Shark does an excellent job with all of the cat fur, it’s quiet, efficient and we love the self-emptying function. We set it and leave and come back to a beautifully vacuumed home. So far, we haven’t found anything to dislike. Very happy

Needs better mapping + better map
I’ve mapped out my place in the app yet it still says it’s complete and goes back to dock before finishing all the rooms. The frustrating part on top of that is that the app doesn’t give you the option to just send it to a specific room (but you can create “rooms” in the app for I don’t know what reason?). So for me, it sometimes goes through my kitchen extremely thoroughly like 3x, but won’t even make it to the living room and says it’s finished and goes back to doc. The auto empty function is cool and it does store a good amount of dirt in there so you don’t have to empty it too often.

Not as good as a Roomba
I had my same roomba for 5 years and I only got rid of it because its battery life was just so low. Never had issues with it and I didn’t change the parts and filters like I should have. I had two big dogs, carpet, ran it 5 days a week. This shark is not docking, rollers are always stuck, it needs “help” and I have not even had it two full month yet, no dogs and have hardwood floors, I have probably ran it 5-7 total times. Very disappointing but I guess you get what you pay for! Dont skip the Roomba.
Dean A. –
Love our little robot
This vacuum really works well. It maps the room very quickly and efficiently vacuums. It rarely gets stuck and based upon what we empty from the container, it definitely cleans the room. It took very little effort to connect it with the app. Recommend.
Rachel Hull –
Love it
Love it. No, you can’t send Sharky to a specific room, but I knew that going in. App works great. Compatible with Alexa. Thinking about buying another one!
Amazon customer –
Great for dust but not pet hair
It picks up tons of dust but hardly any cat hair on carpet. It’s not really smart as other less expensive ones in terms of mapping.
Debbie C. –
Not bad
I had a roomba years ago but she died and I was in no rush to replace her (rosie). This one I do really like, but it can NOT handle dog hair. Maybe if you have one dog that barely sheds. I have 4 great pyrenees, 2 german shepherds, an english setter, a jack russel and a yorkie. we have hair. I sweep and shop vac (yes literally) the hair up and THEN run this. It does great on normal dirt and dust on the floor (we live on a farm covered in red clay, so LOTS of red clay dust). And that was how I intended to use it all along, but I am disappointed on just how bad she does with dog hair. THere is no side sweeper like with the roomba, and I dislike that. Minus 2 star due to REALLY not liking ANY hair and no side sweeper- because I think it misses a lot without one. she does empty herself without issue though it sounds like a jetliner about to take off. I like being able to control it from my home and set what areas I want her to clean.
Q –
So close to perfect.
This thing is pretty great, and makes cleaning floors so easy and effortless through the touch of a button. My complaints: The home mapping is pretty accurate, but having to remap the home each time something moves is less than ideal (but it makes sense). I’ve found that is the only way to ensure it doesn’t get stuck going in circles once in a while. It is definitely louder than expected when it’s running, even on all 3 settings.
mlw –
Wow
Ok. First I have only had my shark for a few days. I did lots of research. My requirements were: good suction, pet friendly, easy to figure out, with container to hold dirt. Ok, now I hate vacuuming, we have 2 dogs, I’m 65 retired. I wanted to make life easier. I lOVE my shark. It was easy to put together, easy app set up. I did have a question about how to empty dirt bin, but easy utube video answerd my question. Also it was priced in the middle, not to $$$$ nor $. I recommend 100%.
cory sheets –
Was great for the first week
After the first week, it doesn’t charge beyond 40%. The only solutions offered are to clean the contacts, or replace the battery. I’ve done both, still won’t charge beyond 40%. It can only run 25 minutes at a time, so this guy runs all hours of day and night 😴

Oh, The Horror!
This vacuum does an amazing job and does not quit. But my garbage can of a golden retriever ate something gross and explode-a-pooped on my floor AND THE VACUUM DID ITS THING. ALL NIGHT LONG. Through it again and again and again. So much poop! Poop everywhere! What have I done to deserve this, Shark Vac?

Does a great job!
We weren’t sure a robot vacuum was something we needed, but my husband and I both love this vacuum! I did a lot of research and believe we got the best model we could afford. It’s amazing, you tell it on your phone to do all your house or just certain rooms, and then go do something else while it vacuums! If it gets full of dirt it goes back to the dock, empties, and then goes back and picks up where it left off! Same with the battery, if it gets low it goes back to dock, recharges, then completes the job.
Kevin C –
Great vacuum
This vacuum was easy to set up and program and cleans as expected
Monty the Dalmatian –
Great robot vacuum with two exceptions
The media could not be loaded. I love this vacuum! I have two dogs that shed a lot so I vacuum 1-2 times a day. My old robot vacuum didn’t have the self emptying base or sense when it was full, so I had to empty its container every 15 minutes and if I forgot, it would keep running without picking up anything. The self emptying feature on my Shark is excellent! If it gets full mid-clean, it goes back to the base to empty itself and then returns to where it was cleaning. I empty it about once a week (instead of every 45 days like the listing says), but someone without pets would probably be able to empty it less often. It has great suction but it’s pretty quiet. It does a thorough cleaning job and gets the corners decently. The battery life is decent. On the normal mode, it’ll do my 1000 sq ft condo in one charge. There are also MAX (stronger) and ECO (lighter) suction modes, but I haven’t tried those. The vacuum doesn’t “clean by braille” like older robot vacuums used to do, bumping into everything to determine where walls and obstacles were. This guy seems to be able to “see” his surroundings. The app works great and I love that I can see the battery life and tell my Alexa to send my robot to clean a specific room. The vacuum starts by making a map of your home and then you label each room so it knows where to go. There is one drawback: it has to sense the whole house in one trip. This means you can’t map multi-story homes (not a problem for me, but it is for friends who have 2-story homes). When it made the map of my house, I had a room closed off for storage that I didn’t need it to clean, but I’ve now made the room into an office. Instead of adding the room to my map, I have to erase the old map and send the robot around to map the whole house again, and then reassign the room boundaries. Another drawback is that the Alexa integration is a little clunky, in that it always asks for the robot name even though I only have one vacuum. “Alexa, ask Shark to start cleaning the living room.” “Which robot?” “Bruce.” “Okay, your robot is now cleaning.” Alexa doesn’t recognize the request if you ask using just the robot name (“ask Bruce to clean the living room”). I wish they would eliminate the extra question when you only have one robot. Not a big deal but it is annoying. Overall I’m very happy with my vacuum and it’s saved me a lot of time and effort that I used to spend keeping dog hair under control.

NOT NEW!!! This is a used AND damaged robot vacuum
The item was not listed as used or refurbished, but it most definitely is. You can see that someone ran it and it ran into and under furniture and walls. It is dirty and wasn’t even packaged right. What a let down.
Hunter and Callie Hathorn –
Don’t do it!
I will NEVER buy another shark product again. I bought this product and it is only 2 years old and has stopped working. I called customer support and they basically told me I need a specific part but they couldn’t send it to me because my warranty expired a year ago. How ridiculous! So glad I spent all this money on a product for it to stop working 2 years later and customer service to basically tell me “oh well we can’t help you”
Janet I Hinnenberg –
No more vacuuming!
There is nothing I don’t like about this! It vacuums, even throw rugs that we used to shake out. It returns to the dock if the dust bin on it gets full, it empties it and returns to exactly where it stopped. We were hesitant about a robotic vacuum, but I am completely sold now! We didn’t order the one with a mop because we have mostly hard wood floors. The little brushes on the front of the unit get into corners and around the baseboards. It even goes under the beds. We have to lift up the bed skirts ahead of time and move a couple of things so the unit can get into some areas, but it is so much better than the backbreaking vacuuming of before! Of course, we still have to vacuum couches and chairs, but that is nothing compared to not having to vacuum the entire house! We love it!

Noisy!
Terrible! We own two other Shark Robots and this one sounds sick… very noisy. As it turns out this company/supplier sent us a used/reconditioned 30 day bin model that was made exclusively for Costco. Not at all the “new” advertised model. No manufacturer boxing or instructions. Beware

I wanted to love this vacuum
I really wanted to love this vacuum. We have a dog who sheds quite a bit so I bought it hoping it would lighten the load of constant doghair on the floor. We have a small apartment so I thought it would work well in this space. It was fairly easy to set up and attach to the app on my phone. The vacuum just doesn’t do the job. I can send it out to clean the apartment and it will say it’s going to clean for 30-40 minutes. It comes back in 20 and there still huge clumps of hair on the floor that it completely misses. It’s pretty disappointing considering what I paid for it. The battery life is also not ideal. Again, we have a small apartment, it should be able to clean it no problem. It has to go back to the dock constantly. I would not buy another.

22 days so far
Got this model on a sale a month ago (Aug 2024). I have run it almost every day. I’ve been using bread ties and zip ties to get little things off the ground (house plant lights, loose cords, etc). It cleans my whole house (2/1, 900 sq ft. with 2 adults, 3 cats, and 1 chihuahua) in about 45-65 mins. The amount of dust and hair it gets everyday is unbelievable. I’d vacuum with my shark stick vacuum on a Saturday and empty the little bin three times and thought that was “good enough” but this thing seems to be pulling out hair and dust everywhere each day. I sure do feel like the air quality is better in here! I also got a little under furniture brush to sweep out under the few furniture pieces that the vacuum can’t get under due to clearance. My cats are not freaked out by it. My youngest is two and she sort of stalks it but it moves slow so it doesn’t scare her. My chihuahua barks when it docks and undocks bc that’s when its loudest. There are trade offs to using it. I have to walk around and pick up cat toys, dryer sheets, and clothes dropped on the floor before running it each day. My partner has to be better about keeping his clothes off the floor. I’ll call that a win-win though bc it running everyday means we both have to be more aware of keeping stuff off the floor. The only down side so far is that it’s a lot of checking and maintenance. So it’s 5 mins a day and not 45 mins on a weekend. Still does a better job than me!

Had to return after one month 😔
Unfortunately, the Shark stopped working after one month. I kept getting the brush roll stuck error, and no matter how much I cleaned it and cleared it out and followed all troubleshooting, it still would not work and continued giving the error. I had to contact technical support and they did not offer to exchange, only refund. So beware, if you bought this don’t get too attached. I loved it when it worked. But since I bought it on Prime day I won’t be able to afford to replace it. So bummed.

Works good
About a month in so far and it’s worked great. We run it about twice a week and haven’t had any issues yet.

Wish I Bought It Sooner
I always thought using a robotic vacuum was a silly idea until I got 2 dogs that were a husky mix. The amount of hair I was picking up everyday was getting a little ridiculous. Shortly after setting the vacuum up I was sold, the amount of stuff this thing picked up was pretty impressive. I usually run it everyday and the self emptying feature is great. I’m always amazed at the amount of hair and dirt this thing picks up. The app isn’t too complicated but I do wish you were able to map out zones/rooms at angles instead of just squares, but that’s really my only complaint but it’s due to the layout of my house.

Best purchase of 2024 for me
Best gift I’ve gotten for the wife- she loves this thing. She had been looking into them and asking others. She had it on her phone, and she loves this device. I should’ve gotten this years earlier.
Marilyn Elson –
Disappointed with this vacuum.
It does not perform as well as my old roboroc vacuum. I should have tested it sooner, but was very busy, and now it’s too late to return. It’s very sporadic in the cleaning pattern and does not empty itself as advertised.
John Garza –
Does not work well on carpet.
Set up was easy enough and was quiet while running. I imagine it would be just fine for non-carpeted homes but did not do well on the carpeted section of my apartment.
Christen –
Not recommended for pet homes
As a dog owner, this vacuum is not recommended for indoor dog owners. I have to clean my roller out at least everywhere day cause it is stopped up. I got this vacuum to help with clean up and little less stress of daily doing floors but I constantly have to find my shark and clean it out myself. I am not happy with my choice.

Dosen’t work
We have had this vacuum a little over a month and it has gotten progressively worse. It says it will take 150 mins to complete a task and after 30 mins it returns to the base and shuts off. Several times it gets about 3 feet from the base and goes back and shuts off. The last time it said it had completed the task and we checked the map and it did one path through the living room kitchen and playroom. One path as wide as the machine and said all done good night see ya. It’s junk looking into sending it back now.
Ruan –
App is a disaster
The app to use the vacuum did not work. I had to return the vacuum and lost $80 for “repacking.” What a waste of money.

Robot does not work since we bought it!
We bought the Shark robot and the first one that we received experienced problems with the side brush in 2 weeks of use. I called them and after a video call they realized that it should be replaced (and the attendant said the problem was something that they have experienced for a while). The new one arrived and since the first day it couldn’t work properly. Again I called them and they said that a technical support team would call me. I’m still waiting and nobody called me. Unfortunately my returning date has expired in 1 week…if not, I would return it immediately and buy another brand.

Outstanding vacuum so far
I am coming from one of the first iRobot Roombas and this one is so much better. You only have to empty the canister every couple of weeks and it is intelligent in the path it takes. It hits every inch of my floors and I think it was definitely worth the price tag.

Good for a while, then its not
Product is great for the first few months. Then youll notice the software is awful amd none of the mapping/no-go features actually work. But youll look past it because you dont jave to vaccuum. After about a year it wont work at all anymore for one reason or another. Just read the reviews, everyone whose had it for less than 6 months writes a stellar review, everyone whose had on longer knows. Theres also no specific support for this model, the 2501 or 2510. Seems like they made this model, knew it was trash, but let it get shipped out before they could recall it. Do yourself a favor and Look for a different model.

She works great
We have a dog that sheds OFTEN and wood floors. Once we figured out how the device works and it really wasn’t that hare. We are just special. We love our “hairBusta”. And our dog hates it. We have 3 short nap rugs and it cleans them well. This machine does half the battle of cleaning my house. When it get full it goes back to the base, when the base ends to be empty the device lets you know. We may get another one for the other floors.
Ariana –

This is my first Shark… VERY happy with it! Been using roomba for many years.

Perfect
I read all the reviews when it was 0n sale and decided this was the one. We don’t have animals but neither my wife nor I can comfortably vacume our floors. Then it went off sale and I waited until it went on sale again for $240. I’m so glad I waited. It got a perfect map after only two tries and the no-go zones work great. It can do our small upstairs in one go on maximum. It effectively avoids the stairs drop off and returns to base to empty before going back to finish the job. I can’t think of anything its supposed to do that it doesn’t do very well. The others, according to the reviews sometimes don’t map well or follow the maps or find their base. But those complaints don’t show up in the reviews. All the others seem to have some flaw everyone complains about. At least this is my take on pouring over the reviews. Buy this one. According to my experience it does what its supposed to do.
