The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Has suicidal tendency.
Was great until it developed issues. Sends messages that it’s on a cliff and could fall. Now my home is one story no steps, all wood floors. I find it in the middle of the floor. Cleaned sensors and still on a cliff. Clearly a cry for help. Welcome to the future AI with mental issues.

Died after 2 years
I’m not overly impressed with these robot vacuums. This one, like the others had issues with hair getting wrapped around every moving part which led to mobility issues. The suction was fair and the mapping zones helped improve efficiency but the IR sensor still left much to be desired. After 2 years of use, it stopped charging the battery (yes, we tried a new battery and every other bit of advice). A whole lot of money for not much return.

Better instructions
Needs better instructions for this. Although, I do like the product. Just need to be able to figure it all out.

Does NOT last long!!!!!
My robot vacuum only last for 16 months, it can’t return to the base to empty dust and can’t connect to WiFi now. I tried replace a new base and battery but still doesn’t work. It definitely is control board issue. Also, it always skip cleaning half of my living room according to the apps. My old iRobot roomba do much better and last longer than this shark. Think TWICE before you buy it.

Works great until breaks after 1 yr
Loved my vacuum until it broke suddenly after 1 year. It won’t hold a charge and just doesn’t work after I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting.

Great for our Home
Best purchase I have made this year! This product has become part of the family cleaning the floors multiple times a day. We have a lot of traffic in and out of the house, and this product has saved me from sweeping and vacuuming repeatedly. This product is easy to clean and operate. The only downfall is that it can be loud.
lee eplen –
Not good for anything except being annoying
Leaves tons behind on my laminate. Even on matrix setting. Doesn’t clean carpet well. At all. Pet hair and human hair is constantly clogging it. Or getting wrapped up in roller. I was going to send it back but ran out of time because I was trying to see if it was just me. Re mapped house 3xs. No use.
Valerie Ramage –
Works, but not like I want it to.
We bought this to replace an older Roomba unit we had. We decided on this unit because of the reviews and the price point. We have two corgis who shed constantly. This vacuum was intended to help keep things a little cleaner around the house. The mapping was pretty easy. The app is easy to use. I just don’t feel like it vacuums well, hence the 3 star rating. I often find a lot of fur that it missed, and it doesn’t do well on carpets. Know that if you purchase a unit like this, you will still need to do your normal sweeping and vacuuming – this unit just gives you a little extra time between doing it. I do really enjoy the self emptying piece. It will dock itself, empty, and go back to cleaning if it isn’t done yet.

Was Great for a bit
The media could not be loaded. I ordered this in an attempt to stay on top of the dog hair situation that plagues my existence. It worked great until about 2 months ago. I purchased in Dec 23, and it’s now April 24. Not much life out of something so expensive. You can see a video of what it is doing now. Donuts on my kitchen floor! I have a small 1700 sq ft house with LVT through out and no thresholds or carpet. Should be optimal operating for a little guy like this. By alias, the dog hair wins again. The design of the vacuum wheel is not good. Dog hair clogs up in there pretty bad, and it has to be taken apart at least once a week to fix. It’s outside of my return window. I guess I will take it up with Shark(yeah, we all know how that’s gonna go).

Very effective!
Sets a very effective cleaning pattern, standard power is pretty quiet and it does a great job cleaning! The third robot vac we’ve tried over the years and by far the best!

Trash
Don’t buy used/ refurbished. Completely scratched and looks like a piece of junk. Instructions are printed so small that you can’t see them to read. What a joke!
Thomas U. –
doesnt fit under most furniture lots of spots missed
first off the thing i dont like is the shark is taller and wider than Roomba vac. My Roomba has no issues going under the couch or coffee table where the shark does not fit because of the added height for the mapping sensor. as far as reg dust it does a ok job. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats for pet hair well the roomba wins here with the shark you will still need to clean the rollers frequently. the roomba has rubber paddle’s where the shark has half and half, half rubber and half brush so you still get tangle wrap around. noise level roomba is very loud when emptying the shark is loud also but not as bad as rooma. vacuuming noise level is about the same.

Exactly what we needed
We purchased this vacuum to keep dust and crumbs off our extensive wooden floor, and this does the job perfectly! However, we either have a big house or just a lot of dust…because the receptacle definitely does not have “30 day capacity” as advertised, we have to empty every few days. Probably if you have a small apartment with very little dust it might hold more… However, it’s definitely not a deal breaker for us, and we like using this vacuum. A couple of improvements that could be made: – when you map, you have to map the entire house. If you want to add a room, you have to re-map EVERYTHING. There’s no “add a room”, you have to re-stage your entire house again for mapping. – the scheduler can only clean the entire house — you cannot schedule different rooms to be cleaned on different days. That would be a nice feature. All-in-all, however, we’re happy with this purchase. Great value for the price.

Mostly works
Let me start by saying I have two dogs, a golden retriever and a shepherd both with long coats and both of them prolific shedders. One of them is a messy eater who likes to walk around while chewing food and gets food pieces all over my floors. This vacuum cannot seem to handle dog food. It is constantly complaining that it’s “brush roll is stuck” and when I flip it over and check it is dog food pieces. Same problem goes for the dust bin on the vacuum. The little flapper sometimes doesn’t close all the way due to small pieces of debri that get stuck there when it goes to empty itself. This is the 2nd most common “error” it complains about. I have also had zero luck getting logged into the app. I have created a username and password and gotten the verification email. I can log into the website to order things. But the app just keeps asking me to verify my email over and over and won’t let me sign in. So I haven’t been able to use the scheduling or mapping features. I have just been manually pressing the clean button on the vacuum. The other annoying thing is when I pick the vacuum up and place it in the part of the house I want it to clean it just immediately starts heading back towards it docking station and then starts cleaning the area around it. Basically the vacuum doesn’t seem to want to be launched from anywhere other than its station. Since I haven’t been able to get it to map my house, the room with the docking station gets cleaned each time and the other areas often remain untouched. When it isn’t complaining about its brush roll or dust bin being blocked by some small piece if debri (I am talking the size of small dog food pieces) it seems to clean ok. And it does seem to have decent battery life and make it back to it’s docking station alright. Maybe if you don’t have dogs it would be ok.

Love it, but know it will not replace a heavy duty vacuum
We got this because our son is allergic to dog hair/dander and we were vacuuming daily. I like that I can set this to run (over wood floors, rugs and tile) every morning and pick up the dog hairs from my 2 dogs. I have a shepherd and a lab, so lots of dog hair. The hair does seem to block the vacuum from emptying, it’s usually a big glob. It’s easy to unblock it and the unit does tell you it’s blocked. Overall, I’m happy with this and wish I had gotten it a few years ago. I only need to deep vacuum once a week now. And I was surprised it makes over the 1 inch threshold between my 2 floors.

Best “Robovac” I’ve had
I would recommend this vacuum to anybody. Having had other brands of robot vacuums in the past, they do not compare. This shark vacuum works very well and I love the self emptying feature! With two dogs and a cat, I used to have to vacuum my house daily period now, with this vacuum, it does the work for me and I might have to vacuum once every week or two.

Dont waste your time or money
This thing made a very loud clicking noise which was very distracting when in use. I returned it and amazon recieved it back and now they are holding my money hostage instead of sending me my refund. Wont be spending this much on Amazan again after this experience.
Ja Nice –
Features almost perfect
I am pretty satisfied of what it can do. However,I hope the robot can also go and clean underneath the couch like irobot brand.
Phillip Wieand –
Awesome little guy
This vacuum is pretty cool. I like that you can map out the house once and it will know what to do around without bumping into things. Like all robot vacuums, you’ll need to make sure cords are picked up. Also the mapping doesn’t account for a new item that got placed, but that’s not a big deal at all. I love that it automatically empties when it goes back to the base.
Haley M. –
Doesn’t work now!
I’ve had this item for less than two years now. It is now giving me the error that it’s “too close to a cliff” and won’t run. We have taken it apart and cleaned everything with no luck.
Ryan Acosta –
Stopped working in under two years
Product stopped working due to a small spring not pushing the front bumper back up. When asked for a part to replace it which I would’ve gladly payed for they offered me 30% off a new device and no other option. These devices aren’t cheap…. This is the second shark vacuum I own, I’ll be going Roomba from here on out.

Clogs Easily with Dog Hair, Cleans Carpets Poorly
I have a german shepherd and got this hoping to have it keep up with shedding. Despite running it daily, it gets clogged up and I find myself dismantling it every night to clean clumps of fur out of it. My dogs get brushed outside daily with a deshedding brush, so it’s not like there is an awful lot of hair in my house either. Apart from the clogging issue, it struggles to pick up bits of litter out of low pile carpets which is highly annoying, even when the vacuum is on “max” power. It maps the house well and always gets back to the dock, but that doesn’t mean much if it doesn’t clean well.
LNielson –
Happy with purchase!
The setup was easy—very straightforward. The app was easy to install and use. The unit first went through the whole house to create a map of our home. Then, it went and cleaned the floors throughout our home.
rtm56 –
Didn’t think it would make it…
The media could not be loaded. So far I’m on the fence. Seems to do the job and the evidence is in the hopper after each “dump”. If you were to watch it, it seems to act confused and in my opinion, wastes a lot of time bumping into things, redirects, and vacuums the same area multiple times. This video shows it returning to the dock when the battery reached 20% in the normal mode (there are three modes: eco, normal and a more powerful suction mode). One would think it would head straight there but as you can see, it didn’t. We have close to a 3000 square foot home and I think it is still not finished after two recharging periods. We have a “no go” zone clearly outlined in the map, yet it went there anyway and couldn’t get back out. More wasted time and battery charge. Stay tuned.

Not for dog hair in carpet
This vacuum was definitely a step up from my old one. I loved the features and the design and it wasn’t too loud. I have a border collie and an aussie and it couldn’t handle the fur. In the carpet it pushed as much fur into the carpet as it picked up. Still better than not vacuuming. But it also stopped every time I ran it because the fur was managing to get to the spot in the roller that makes it move and building up there. About ⅔ through my house every time. I imagine shorter hair dogs would be fine because the fur isn’t long enough to wrap around so much.

It works!
I was really skeptical about buying one of these but im so glad I did. I love my robot vacuum. I have only had it for a couple of weeks but it does the job. I have all hard wood floors n no pets. My son is asthmatic so I’m trying to keep the dust off my floors. I did have to map it twice for it to get my rooms right but that’s no big issue. The noise level is not bad either. So far, I have no complaints. Hopefully it will last a long time.
JOHANN HERMANN –
This robot vacuum is a beast.
I tried to purchase this model from Walmart but no one would unlock the security cage so it was then I realized the same model was $130 cheaper on Amazon so I went home. We have 3 golden retrievers and a cat and this vacuum doesn’t care. We left the garage door open so it decided to clean that too. It’s new so we will see but initially, very pleased.

Lasted barely over a year
We used it regularly, maintained it often, have no pets, keep things picked up before it runs and while it was running today it just stopped throwing an unknown error. Called support and they said it was an internal issue and we could purchase a new one for more than we purchased this one and likely a different model. Not satisfied at all.

Worth the money
I have animals who it seems like shed for a living. I was constantly vacuuming and as soon as my dog shook you couldn’t tell I just cleaned. I was hesitant on this purchase based off some of the reviews I saw. I got mine yesterday and am completely stoked about my purchase. It doesn’t slam into everything like my old one did and the self clean isn’t as loud as my roomba was. I am happy with my purchase.
Amazon Customer –
Not great for pet hair
This is a fantastic vacuum, but with one major issue. It is set to clean everyday and I empty out the “30” day bin almost everyday. However, for some reason I have to clean out the suction port area inside of the robot because pet hair clumps so badly and it loses suction or the ability to empty into its bin. We only have 1 dog (Labrador). This should not be a problem.

Would hate to be without this.
There’s nothing to dislike. I still use another vacuum I have to get between the legs of furniture and the wall but overall, I think it’s wonderful. When I named it, I named it “my new best friend”. So “my new best friend” is just that.

Firmware Renders it Useless
After sporadic use for 18 months, this product just suddenly stopped working. All of the cleaning, troubleshooting and hours spent with customer service led them to tell us that the firmware is no longer working and we need to replace it. They offered us 50% off their products because it was no linger under warranty (only a year), which speaks volumes about the faith they have in their products. Will be looking for another company for our robotic vacuum. Very disappointing. Avoid Shark Vacuums at all costs if you can so as to at least avoid having to deal with their customer service.

Wow! I’m in love
I had thought about buying a robot vacuum but made the mistake of buying a cheaper one and I hated it. Years went by and I decided again. I have a Shark upright vacuum and am sold on Shark. After seeing that they now have a self cleaning attachment, I got excited because I know how little the actual unit will hold. So after days of reading reviews, I decided on one but it was pricey. So I saw that they had a used one for about half the price. I got it and whoever had it before never emptied it and it smelled bad. Sent that back and went review shopping again and found this one. It cost more for a new one but after the last experience I decided I didn’t care. A new one it was. I am so pleased about getting this one and it being new. No one else’s problems and no smell. I set it up on my phone, which I have little experience doing, by myself. I mapped out my rooms and did a test run that went well. The next day would be the big experiment because I had it scheduled. The first scheduled run started on time and it went through my entire condo going in areas I didn’t see it going through during the test run. I followed it around like an idiot just amazed at how it knew where to go. I only have it scheduled for the first level of my condo because it can’t go up the stairs. But I only have my loft up there anyway. I’m guessing it cleaned about 600 sq ft, which is my bedroom, bathroom, hallway, kitchen, living/dining area and my entryway. It went from my medium height carpet, down to my kitchen/bathroom linoleum floors with no problem. It also went up on my high shag rug by my bed and the high bath rug in the bathroom! After it was done, it went back to its dock and it only took about 5 seconds to suck all of the dirt/pet hair into the container, I saw that it had used about 50% of its power. So it could have done 1,200 sq ft before a charge if I had needed it to. I had it scheduled to vacuum every day but have changed that to every other day as it did so well. I should say I have two cats and a teenager living with me here. One thing that I make sure of is that everything is off the floor, which makes me keep the house nice. If there are things on the floor, it will go around them and you won’t get the full vacuum you desire. Even make sure electrical cords are off the floor too. If you have high enough furniture, it will go under that as well, which is a treat. The instructions it comes with are not detailed instructions, but a look on the internet or YouTube on how to set it up are great. Thank God I gave the robot vacuum another chance. Love it!

Not good with hair and gets stuck.
When the thing actually goes off it does a good job but I was waking up most mornings and finding it stuck under furniture or just out of battery in the middle of the floor. I had to go in and remove areas from its map (areas that it should be able to go) just so it can make it back to its docking station. It also gets hair stuck in the brush roll way too often so if you have anyone in your house with long hair or a long hair animal be prepared to take it apart and clean it regularly. Lastly I highly recommend you set it to clean during the day because when it returns to empty into the docking station it sounds like a jet engine firing up. It will make sure you don’t get sleep so your nice and annoyed the next day. I haven’t tried out any other products yet but I think your better off spending a little more money for something better built.

It cleans. Love my Dobbie.
Today was my first time using, and I was so pleased with the results. I have 3 cats and it took care of their hair, no problem (well, except for clogging up when Dobbie dumped the trash). But that was easily fixed. I do have one complaint, though. There is a little lip on the trash bin in the vacuum that tends to collect hair and other particle, and it is not easy to get it all out. I think I will have to vacuum it out occasionally. Other than that, it is a wonderful addition for my home. One more thing, I had to go to YouTube to learn about the app and how to get it to do what I wanted. I’m grateful that was available but it should have been a no problem set up.

Day one
1. Very quiet 2. Mapping…not too bad actually. 2a. Don’t merge any rooms unless you only want that one big room, the individual rooms disappear. 3. Easy to assign to any or all rooms. 3a. Can’t “schedule” a single room. Scheduling is all or nothing. 4. Don’t leave a string on the floor. She had a small meltdown because there was something caught in the roller. See picture of what was caught. 🙄 5. Edge cleaning…meh. Keep your regular vacuum. You’ll need it occasionally. 6. It works okay on carpet. Not great, but I hadn’t vacuumed in over a week so there is that. 7. Most important of all……this will keep me out of traction. So all in all, it will keep my floors respectable. Not party-ready mind you, but respectable. As long as she keeps functioning as today, I’m satisfied. If not…..you’ll be getting whiny updates.
