The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

I just mop by hand, it’s easier than babysitting this robot
I finally gave up on this robot mop/vacuum. I wanted to love it, but it’s like having another child. The final straw was when the app dumped my house map for the second time. Getting all the removable furniture/clutter off the floors, mapping the house and assigning rooms and making coordinated combined sections was time consuming the first and then the second time, but I just wasn’t doing it a third time. There should be a comprehensive site where you can store your house map and use it even when changing robots. But that’s just not the case with Shark. I’ve had to map so many times with shark, and then the self empty feature doesn’t work when the water cistern is attached for mopping. The water cistern holds a very limited amount of water. It ended up taking less time to just mop by hand than to babysit this robot. I may still keep it, as i do keep the vacuum piece in and leave it in a closed off room to just get a small space with vacuuming. I’m getting a different brand that mops and vacuums and self empties and cleans the mopheads after each run, and supposedly it recognizes carpeted areas and stops mopping for that portion. If it works out as good as it sounds, I’ll probably put this one out to pasture. Sorry Bob, you’re like the manchild who just doesn’t add more than he takes. Wish I could get my money back.

Works well but broke down after 2 years
I’ve had mine since July 2022. It worked really well at first and slowly died over time. After the first year, the sensor began to think there were obstructions and items caught in the wheel. After two years, it was really bad and wouldn’t go but a few feet before shooting off an alarm. I got replacement parts and cleaned it out which helped with the “item caught” alarm, but it was still constantly seeing an obstruction after a minute or so of running. I finally unplugged the base and have been looking for a replacement since.

Good Product, Terrible Support
The product is good, it does what it needed for the in-between maintenance cleaning. I still have the house deep cleaned once a month, at most once every two months. I have 3 dogs so it always varies. The support for this product is horrible, but I do believe the support issue is with Shark as whole. This specific robot product warranty cannot be registered online, so if you don’t have some sort of coverage through Amazon, I would be mindful of purchasing. If you are willing to get on a phone call with support and have patience to get ran through AI menus that have nothing to do with your call…. bless your soul. Back to the product, no pictures to offer but it does leave wonderful lines on the carpet which is satisfying. The product WILL NOT mop and vaccuum at the same time. It’s one or the other. When the mop plate is attached, it will then only clean those floors that are approved to mop. At which time it also won’t auto empty bin on robot into the main unit with mop plate attached. Mopping quality is good, despite the slight inconvenience of having to remove it when you want to vacuum any carpet. The vacuum will clean the entire house and only avoid. I’ve adapted to this behavior and attach the mop plate 1-2 times a week. Letting the robot vacuum basically every day and having 2 days where it will mop. So far this is fine.

Amazing vacuum!
This Shark AI Ultra Robot Vacuum is amazing! Being able to vacuum under our bed is worth the price of this vacuum. We have two dogs and it picks up hair and pet dander, dried leaves and whatever else the dogs track in. It is easy to setup and use. We rate it 5+ stars.

Didn’t last long
Got this in July of 2024 and it is already useless. Worked great at first and now it sits on the dock and the dock says it’s charging but the app says the battery is dead. Changed the battery and still nothing. At least the Roomba lasted longer. I don’t recommend the shark. The product support page is also useless.

It’s great… when it works
I waited a few months to give an honest review of this. It honestly works great picks up dirt and hair well. I have Great Danes so it’s a huge help when it works like it should. Set up was very easy. The problem I have is that it seems to lose itself very easily in our house. I have to remap at least once a month because it cannot remember where to go.

Just fantastic
Easy to use right out of the box. Mappings, ease of scheduling and specifics like telling it to vac one room or skip rooms entirely. App is simple to use too. Picks up all the pet hair, dirt and debris but my favorite thing is how well it does around furniture legs – something I would need to grab an attachment to clean with my Dyson. It requires a stop for charging and emptying while doing my main floor but it runs for about 1 hr on a full charge. Overall this thing is great and I wish I had bought one much earlier.

No go zones does not work
It maps the surrounding area fine but it has a feature for “no go” zones that are available in app to setup and I can see clearly they are saved and visible on the map but they are clearly not recognized when the machine is cleaning. I’ve tried and tried and it does not work. Huge flaw.

Amazing and would buy again!
I did some research when looking which vacuum robot to buy and decided on this one based on our needs. This was well worth the money! ( I did get it on a black Friday sale just to be transparent) The vacuum works well, the mop works just like I mopped the floors myself, and the robot doesn’t give me any boundary issues. After the initial mapping it hasn’t had any issues of knowing where to go. The only reason I have it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is advertised as 60 days before you have to worry about it. While that is true of the vacuum, the mop uses a full tank of water and cleaning solution each run for us. Although I’m still very happy with the product, having to refill the tank each day does slightly counter the whole buy a robot to clean the floors for me concept. I highly recommend this product at the end of the day!

Shark Robot Matrix Plus is my best purchase this year.
I am loving my new Shark Robot Matrix plus. I used it for the first time last night. Wow, such an easy set up and mapping was a breeze. The floor felt so clean and looked great. The battery was at 90% when it started cleaning and it cleaned for 44 minutes and still had a 40 % charge when finished. I highly recommend this Shark Combo. It takes the work out of cleaning.

It arrived in good condition. Works well
It does a decent job of cleaning—certainly good enough to clean up between a heavy cleaning day. It cleans up spilled coffee grounds, and twice a week, it vacuums up the kitty litter that the cats track around the house. It’s worth the price just for light vacuuming and pick-up. I’m really happy that it vacuums under the bed and sofa. An upright never reaches under low furniture. I was surprised that you had to make a few changes to your home. The vacuum was stuck on the heavy-pile bath matt. I replaced the matt with a low-pile matt, and everything is fine now. I also have a table with legs slightly closer than the robot is wide. The robot was wedging its self between the legs. I put a box in front of the legs and it now exits through correctly. It recognizes the stairs and has never tumbled down. .

POS
Didn’t even get to use it because it doesn’t recognize carpet zones. It’s designed to recognize and go around area rugs, not rooms that are entirely carpeted. Tried to map carpet zones several times and it goes into the carpeted room every time. Tried to use it as just a vacuum because I wasn’t willing to let it mop my carpet and it won’t work without fluid in the reservoir. Extreme waste of time and money.

Disappointed with Shark
Constantly gets stuck on carpet. The 2 in 1 did not do anything other than cause a mess of the hardwood floors/carpet. ‘AI’ technology seems off compared to older models which were much more predictable & stable. Constantly having to manually pick up and/or reset.

Stopped working after 3 months
Bought it in July 2024. Wasn’t able to use it sometime in early October 2024. It just kept giving me an error about the “area below the Shark logo” but nothing was obstructing the laser. Loved it when it actually worked. Really bummed because it was such a huge help due to dogs and kids. 🫤

It has been perfect for me!
I am in a condo with ceramic tile, vinyl planks and carpet flooring. So far this vac has mopped as directed and avoids the carpet as designed. The vacuum part is powerful enough to pick up my constantly shedding dogs hair without any issues as well as bits of food. I am impressed with the vacuum results in the carpeted area also. Well designed and intuitive to use with the app.

The Shark Matrix is a phenomenonal vacuum. We have a lab and a long haired tabby cat. Shark works, empties itself and returns to work some more. It follows a path and cleans rugs and hard surfaces! Love it!

Not really an AI
You can add only one floor. Most of the home are at least 2 floors. You can’t easily scan the floor again or change vacuuming you need to stop send it to dock and start all over again. For Ex, if in the middle I want to do spot vacuum, I can’t do it. It needs to be stopped, send back to dock and start all over again.

Died after very little use.
I purchased two of these in December of 2022. One has regular use and performs normally. The other has been used three times in my office area. This has failed miserably with a code 6 front bumper sticking. After calling customer service (foreign speaking representative ) I was told it was out of warranty and they would offer me a 30% discount on a new one. I explained it has not even been used for three hours total and was told if I didn’t like the offer don’t accept it I wouldn’t recommend anyone purchasing one of these. Pieces of junk with cheep components. I tossed it in the trash.

Used once so far and it works!
I was very surprised to see how much dust and debris this little guy collected after the first use. I checked out of curiosity and wow! It sucks better than my traditional vacuum that is less than a year old. Looking fwd to learning how the mop feature works! 4 stars cause I haven’t figured out the mop part yet. I just need to take time to understand and then I will be back to update review!

So frustrated.
I’m so frustrated with this stupid vacuum I just want to send it back. What’s with the app and the whole Blue Tooth thing? I can’t get the vacuum to do anything, nor does any of the stuff pop up on the app that’s supposed to. Then of course, it shows up with its own Wi-Fi label on my phone, but that also doesn’t work. I’m also frustrated with having to swap out the mop and the vacuum….why did I buy a robot I have to pay attention to it everyday? Further, if I had known about the swap, I woulda just bought the plain vacuum for half the price and bc it takes longer to set the damn thing up than just run a swiffer. Needless to say, I can’t tell you how well it works or not bc I can’t set it up. I realize this post makes it seem as if I lack technical proficiency, but is it really me , or could there actually be a problem? There’s also a conflict within the app if you have previously owned an earlier version of this robot (which I loved and successfully set up on the Wi-Fi BTW).

Great for keeping up with Cat Hair!
I have two cats so it’s hard to keep up with the shedding, especially since I work the grave shift. This little guy helps keep a lot of areas maintained when I can’t! I used the app to make a routine cleaning time which is such a nice feature! It’s great at getting under furniture and is decently quiet as it works! The only time I really notice it’s on is after it’s done and it’s back at the home station emptying out. It’s really easy to use especially when you use the app on your phone! The only slight problem I ever experience is that due to the sensor on top, it sometimes is a little too tall to fit under certain furniture and although it does pick up A LOT of hair, it does occasionally get stuck in the bristles of the robot. These issues aren’t really that bad, especially since the solution is just to clean the few furniture items it can’t fit under and occasionally flip the robot to check the bristles. So overall, a good addition to my home and a very helpful gadget to have for the price!

Finicky; High Maintenance; Non-Communcative; LOUD
I bought this robovac in February 2024, hoping for a device I could set and forget other than emptying its dust bin. I have it run at 1 pm and quickly got used to it puttering through my bedroom while I slept despite its LOUD rumble. On the other hand, I put the base far from the bedroom because of the near-defining sound of it emptying into the canister base. The “forget” ideal went first. On many mornings we play “find the robovac” and once found, it becomes a game of playing robovac detective to figure out what tripped it up: A single tiny 1×0.5” leaf? Yup; shut it down. Not emptying between runs; yup, it became clogged from hard packed dust. The reasons for the failure are as varied as they are benign. In each case, we add to our bedtime routine finding the leaf, moving the extension cord, picking up the dog toys and everting else it’s gotten caught up on. . Add to that list tiny pieces of thread that can bind up the roller like a steel bridge cable. (How do you find these exactly?). Or like the clogging, we never figure it out and just hope for the best after clearing the clog Support is a joke. If they can’t see it happen on their video support calls, it didn’t happen as far as Shark is concerned. If it gives you any error message at all —- it’s supposed to tell you what’s wrong —- the messages are inane: “My battery has run out. Please put me on the dock to charge.” Fair enough, but why did your battery run out? You’re halfway into a run you otherwise complete every night. That’s when you get a message at all. More often, when I click on “Notifications” to figure out why it stopped in the middle of my kitchen, the notification function just circles and circles never quite offering any excuse at all. If you buy this —- and you will because it’s cheap (which I did even though I knew better) —- don’t count on it cleaning before that party and up your detective and light-mechanical skills; you’ll be on your own.

This product was complete trash. It wouldn’t work whatsoever. I’m not even concerned about the money I spent on it, I threw the whole thing in the trash because it would be more of an inconvenience to send it back. Don’t ever buy this junk.

Not a worth/doesn’t work
The media could not be loaded. Doesn’t clean as per map. It cleans on its own wherever it wants. There is a very huge noise when cleaning. It always go on red when cleaning on carpet. When select “go to dock” from app, it doesn’t care until it finishes it routine cycle. I am uploading a video where it keeps cleaning at same place for last 15 mins. App is not good, it crashes on samsung Android and cannot open on first attempt, have to click the app multiple times and then finally opens. Coming to cleaning, I give as 5, it doesn’t clean as mentioned in the product description video and corners we have to clean it manually. Also don’t think cleaning in matrix model.

Quiet, great at cleaning
First I would like to say that by far this product exceeded my expectations. I previously swelled a roomba and was skeptical about buying another. A friend actually recommended this item and when Black Friday came around I purchased it. Best thing I could do. This product is quiet, maps out your house great and when it gets full it empties out and then continues to finish cleaning. There is an option for mop/dry cleaning i only purchased the dry one. However, I wish I would have purchased the mop option as well. Maybe next year I will commit to the other option. Oh, it was so great that when I showed my mother in law she asked for one and I bought her one for her birthday. Needless to say I would recommend this product, hope it keeps up the good work. Also it picks up a decent amount of dirt. When setting up it was super easy to put together and follow directions to set it up. So far it charges good and it does not die quick. I would say that for what I paid it definitely is worth it and I would even pay the full amount. The tank capacity of dirt is pretty big and it even shows you when it is full. I would say that the quality is great for this item. Happy cleaning. 😊

Love this
So far so good, this vacuum has helped with my OCD so much, we have a white husky who’s hair is constantly all over our dark hardwood floors this vacuum takes care of that while we are at work and come home to clean floors. The navigation system is awesome so far, the remote control is built into the app, it was the best value for money and shows, the build quality is great so far no issues. We love the self emptying system. 10/10 would recommend if you have fur babies

I would not buy this again
It cleans well but the app lacks simple functionality like pausing the schedule. Also it tends to ignore no go zones. It does clean well but I won’t buy another

Made for pets? No so sure about that
Works great until the little suction hole gets clogged up with dog hair. And u do not know it does that till it starts leaving blotches of hair all over the place lol

Struggles to find its way around my house
The robot gets lost and dies around my house, not even stuck, just stops about one out of every 3 runs. Haven’t been able to use the wash feature because its navigation is too bad. Where it does go it will pick up most everything.
Andy S –
So far works well.
Initial setup with the app, following all instructions, worked good to map the house and start the cleaning process. It is best to remove anything that is not a permanent placement item to ensure the mapping is accurate. After the mapping is completed you can put back any non-permanent items because the robot will work around them during cleaning. We have a Christmas tree up with a skirt that the robot attempted to snag on, but going into the app was easy to setup a no-go zone to section this area off and avoid the tree/skirt. Inspection after a full cleaning of all mapped rooms showed the robot did its job. It was easy to view what was in the container, after the robot returned to base and emptied, verifying that dirt and dust were vacuumed up.

Sorry to do this shark
When you purchase something that is almost $400 you would hope it works. At first it didn’t connect to my wifi so shark sent me a new body. Then the robot couldn’t move because it was stuck on a cliff and I had to clean the sensors. This is right out the box it just wouldn’t work and wasn’t meant to be. I was never able to get this expensive robot to work. I returned for a full refund. Better luck next time shart.

Love my Shark robot!!!
The media could not be loaded. So easy to set up! I have a large sq ft on my main floor. Love the ability to section room areas to be cleaned and emptied. I have a Labrador with love dust. This is perfect! Super easy to set up. I clean an area with the ap and the shark navigates back to the docking station, empty and start recharging. Less dust in the house using this as my vacuum.

Great Vacuum!
It took me a very long time to pull the trigger to buy a robot vacuum and now wondering why I waited so long! It works way better than I expected and I like that I can set it to run regularly while at work and also send him on his way to clean on a whim. Have recommended this one to many people since buying.

Software is terrible. Vacuum is okay.
Have been using this for ~6 months now. The software is truly awful. When cleaning, it does a decent enough job but it is constantly getting lost. During docking it can be right next to the base station and not find it. I constantly have to find the thing because it died somewhere because it couldn’t find its home. I also HATE the fact that all the information is stored on Shark servers. Every page refresh takes 10-20 seconds in the app. Also when you map the house, it doesn’t adapt to items having been moved. If it scanned the house and you later move a chair, it will assume the chair is still there and not clean that spot. This goes for any item large or small.

DO NOT BUY
It does not pick up much, low battery life, won’t go all the way into dock to recharge or empty, leaves fine dirt in front of charging pad and the brush area very small. My house wasn’t finished being built so I found out too late how bad this shark is. I like their other vacuums, but this is worthless.
Marnie Brandt –
Poor for the price range
I returned this pretty much immediately. I had previously had a different brand robot that was several years old and had a recurring error that required a more intense repair I wasn’t up for. I expected the Shark to be a step up, just by virtue of being newer. It was the opposite. I wasted probably two hours just trying to enter carpet zones for a rug in my living room and one carpeted room, because you have to enter these manually. Every time the Shark began carpet verification, it zoomed right through the carpet. The app itself does not help you identify the zones at all, because you cannot see any data the robot might have sensed within the app or even see the robot’s current location so it could have been user error or a robot error but there’s no way to know. After failing to figure out how to add carpet zones, I decided to just do a vacuum round, only to watch it aggressively running into walls (AFTER mapping, I might add), ramming the presents under my Christmas tree, and moving my dog’s bowl across the room (so much for recognizing and avoiding obstacles). The Shark is just not worth what is being charged. I returned the Shark and bought the Deebot Ozmo N20 Pro Plus instead – the same brand I had before, EcoVacs. The difference is night and day. I had that one up and cleaning in 15 minutes (it can recognize carpet on its own – no need for me to manually fight with it over zones), I can follow the bot’s every moved in the app, and it had the same zero tangle brush and bagless design. For only $50ish more… it did everything I expected.

Like that it’s pretty quiet, however we have had to send it to remap a few times with no warning. It will go out and then we’ll notice it going all over instead of how the mapping was. It picks up great. It is loud when emptying, but that’s expected.

Way better than expected
First robot vacuum, works so much better than expected, mapped a 1200ft square apt in about 10 mins, picked up almost every hair and piece of cat litter within an hour
