The Good, the Bad, and the Product: An In-Depth Review
The vacuum in question has garnered some positive feedback from users who appreciate its functionality and the convenience it offers. Notably, a user named J Jones found the mapping feature of the vacuum to be incredibly efficient, allowing for the labeling and selective cleaning of rooms via an app. This level of automation, combined with the ability to schedule cleaning sessions, provides a significant convenience factor. Users like Kevin Toomey have observed an impressive amount of pet hair collection, attributing this to the device’s advanced navigation capabilities, such as LiDAR mapping. This technology is praised for its precision in navigating around furniture and other obstacles.
The product seems to be relatively quiet, as noted by Taylor Carthas, and is effective on a variety of surfaces including hardwood, tile, and low-profile area rugs, according to Chester H. Leckner. The absence of tangled hair in the brushes is a unique selling point mentioned by deweyduo, which can be particularly beneficial for homes with pets. The device’s self-emptying feature, despite being noisy, is a highlight for some customers, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
Furthermore, for individuals with mobility issues or those who simply detest vacuuming, like Chris D., the robot vacuum offers a hands-off approach to maintaining clean floors. The ease of removing and cleaning the dust bin, as mentioned by Susan H., and the aesthetic of neat carpet lines left behind add to the appeal of the vacuum.
However, the product also has its fair share of criticism, with a number of users reporting significant drawbacks. A common complaint, highlighted by Amanda Lipesky, is the vacuum’s inefficiency on carpet and its inability to effectively handle pet hair. This suggests that the product may not be suitable for homes with pets or those with carpeted floors.
The longevity and durability of the vacuum have been questioned by users like rich, who experienced a breakdown of the unit shortly after the warranty expired and faced challenges with the lack of available replacement parts or repair services. Similarly, patioelf’s experience with a unit that failed to charge and self-empty, despite its high cost, points to reliability issues. Additionally, issues with the device’s software and Wi-Fi connectivity, as described by Sumit@AWS and other users, seem to hinder the full utilization of the product’s smart features, which is a significant downside for a technology-oriented device.
Furthermore, customers like David C. have raised concerns about the product’s lifespan, indicating that the vacuum may not last as long as expected. Others, such as Stephani Perriman and Shelby Loftin, have encountered quality control issues, including receiving units that were previously used or malfunctioned after a brief period of satisfactory performance. User deweyduo’s frustration with the product’s multiple filters, the app’s lack of error notifications, frequent errors, and the high maintenance demands echo the sentiment of unreliability and inconvenience.
In summary, while the vacuum has features that are praised by some, such as its mapping and cleaning abilities, the overall sentiment from users indicates that the product may struggle with pet hair, carpets, and reliability over time, which could be potential deal-breakers for prospective buyers.

Terrible customer service
This vacuum arrived scratched and improperly packaged. It seemed to work fine so I kept it. Big mistake! After about 4 months it stopped working completely. The seller said I would have to return for inspection and repair/replacement. I returned it and have gotten nothing but excuses from them since they recieved it. They are apparently “waiting to hear back from the manufacturer.” When I asked them to just send it back to me, they said I would need to send them a pre-paid shipping label in order for them to return it. Terrible customer service and a sub-par product. Buyer beware!!

Broken twice
This product broke a couple weeks after we received it. Now it’s broken again. We have to pay shipping every time. One year warranty isn’t enough.

Shark customer service is terrible
I’ve had this for only 2 months now. It’s my second one and I’ve always loved it. Recently, I keep getting “error #4, please clean my brush roll” but there’s nothing there. Everything seems to be in perfect working order. I tried for a week to get it to work. It would work on and off. Maybe do 1/2 a cleaning every couple of days before I get the error. Well I called, did a video chat and they said free of charge they will send a new brush roll. I got it a week later and it’s for a totally different model and doesn’t fit. Called back and the guy told me they sent that one because they no longer supply the right one. So I asked for an exchange with my warranty for a different model, or just a replacement because it would include a new brush roll. They said no. When I asked what I’m supposed to do, as my vacuum is only 2 months old he said my only options are to go online and find it myself-meaning an off brand roller. I would have never paid $400 for this if I would have known I’d be buying off brand replacement parts 2 months later.

Works great!
This replaced my older shark that was random. This one greats with intelligent mapping and auto empty.

If this broke tomorrow, I would order a new one immediately.
This machine is my savior of all. We have three golden retrievers and obviously lots of dog hair. Personally, we built a bench with an opening at the front to hide the base of this, so the size is not an issue for us. The map is easily maneuverable and the machine itself does a great job at avoiding collisions. The base is a little bulky, but the actual robot is average sized. It’s not a cheap item by any means, but this was well worth every dollar. Incredibly functional and works well for our life, even with 3 long hair shedding dogs!

Love it!
Ease to use, works well, it could have a better charging ability but, my rooms are large, great value for the money and easy to store

Excellent value! Great product! It really takes care of pet hair on carpet and hard wood.
Buy this vacuum! Our bin is full of hair from my 80lb Labrador every week. It is well built, simply designed, bagless and easy to maintain. Earlier this year I fell in love with a similar Roomba but returned it when I lost my job the following week after it arrived. This Shark is less than half the price and truly does the exact same great job. The only thing Roomba’s app had better was the ability to schedule days and times to vacuum each individual room. Shark’s app let’s you schedule but only the entire house.

Good until it isn’t 🤷🏼♀️
I have two of these vacuum robots. They were so helpful at first. Notice the past tense? These robots have so many complaints. whenever they dock there is an error (dustbin out of place, etc). The rollers are always getting stuck on nothing. I wish I could return it a year later. It is beyond frustrating that a product this expensive is so fickle.
Amanda Bordenave –
Dose not follow the mapped area
The robot did a mapping of the entire house , I programed the areas to be vacuumed at a certain time , the robot did not follow the programed map it went into all rooms and vacuumed onto an area it should not have went on and caused damage . I have been unsuccessful in reaching shark and am on hold the entire 1 hour +. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVCE THEY IGNORE US

Stopped working
We thought this thing was amazing! It worked perfectly for about a month, now it only cleans the 5 foot space surrounding the dock and claims it’s complete and returns to dock. We’ve reset and remapped and nothing has changed. Of course we are outside of the return window

Awesome Product!
Started using the product from last 4 days only and it cleaned my home perfectly ! Its so easy to use and take the full map of the home. Earlier I bought similar robo cleaner but after few days that was not working fine. Hope the issue does not come in this cleaner. Till now its a perfect item i found for cleaning the home. And its capacity is good so i dont need to clean the box every other day!

It was a gift and was greatly appreciated. They have a toddler and a long haired large dog. It keeps floors and carpets hair free and 75% clean. Great help for new homeowners!

Expect more for money
Overall the robot does a good job, but I expect more for the money given how much more expensive this is than other brands. My problem is it tends to stay for up to an hour in the same room, going multiple times under a table with an annoying bottom rim it has to content with, and under which I doubt there is much to vacuum. On the other hand, it doesn’t get stuck very often and I like the self empty feature. When it successfully runs the whole floor it does a great job. We have a dog with long white hairs so it’s pretty easy to access effectiveness!

18 months, drive wheels not working.
Won’t buy from shark again, 18 months and it’s not useable. Gives the same drive wheel error repeatedly in the app and shuts off, despite the drive wheels operating. Customer service says it’s a common problem but their solution is to sell you another one.

Died 19 days after warranty ended
Never buying this brand ever again. This thing died 19 days after the warranty ended. Spent way too much time on the phone with customer support, and emailing back and forth, trying to solve something that ended up being unsolvable. Unbelievable.

Best way to use it is upside down
This is a disappointing shark product. I have it since May 2024. I REMAP LIKE 10 times follow all the instructions and video and it just keeping not finding his dock . So for me the message is if is a traditional vacuum get a shark for more sophisticated system get an I roomba. I try everything, I move the furniture so that it has space free on a wall and nothing works . Just get another robot . They don’t even answer my emails .

Got a blatantly used product when I paid the extra money for new.
Headline says it all. There’s gunk on the top of the machine, and someone else’s house is already mapped out in the app. I would’ve paid $199 instead of $315 for used if I wanted used.

Love this vacuum!
Quiet and efficient. I love this and it seems to be more efficient than the roomba we had before it.
Kristina Mack –
Waste of money
This vacuum is overpriced and poor quality. The battery does last long, but it has poor suction. It will go over the same spot twice without picking up. The mapping system would be cool if it actually followed it. Sometimes it turns on, on its own, and will move off of the docking station, spin, and return home. We have only used it five times now. It worked great the first time, which was the only time.

Why did we wait so long?
My wife was always wanting a robot vacuum cleaner, and she was hesitant after reading all of the reviews about how hard it was to setup and keep running. Well, we followed the instructions, downloaded the app to our smartphones, and away we’ve gone! 4 months of running 3 times a week automatically, and usually another spot clean or two during the week. It has performed flawlessly! The only issue we have is that it has an affinity for cleaning under the bed and hooking the underbed light cord. It even cleans under the dining room table without any issue. I did buy a spare parts kit for new brushes and roller, and at 6 months, I’ll evaluate whether any parts need replacing. The side brushes will probably be replaced at that time, as well as the filters.

Wanted to give it 5star
I love almost everything about it except it loses Wi-Fi connection constantly so I have to run it manually every time I want to use it and can’t use the scheduled cleaning options which is beyond frustrating. If you don’t need scheduled cleans then it’s great!

Great for Dog Owners
This vacuum does an amazing job of getting all the dirt my pets bring in from outside. As well as, all the hair in my house. I have two dogs, one being a golden retriever, and this vacuum has had no issues with the roller getting clogged with hair or anything.
Brandon –
Hardwood only
If you have anything other than hard wood floors, do not get this vacuum. Shark claims that the “max” feature will help clean any surface but that is not the case. It can’t even clean rugs. And the worst part is that if you do have any rugs, it will make them more dirty as it rolls over them and leaves dirt and hair on the rugs from its roller. It also does not have a dust bin full sensor unlike roomba. So it will just keep pushing fur and dirt around till it’s done with that section of the house before returning to its home station to empty. I have had roomba and now shark. The only thing the shark does well is it mapping with the sonar sensor. If shark and Roomba could combine their products maybe they could equally make a good one.

Fine with drawbacks
Overall the vacuum is fine but it does have some major limitations and drawbacks. The main drawback to me is that you cannot schedule different rooms. This means if you have a big house/area, you have to clean the whole thing every day and it will likely need to recharge and run over several hours. This is super annoying because if you live or work in the area (I work from home and have a baby) you end up turning it off to stop disrupting you. You can tell it to clean a specific room once and you can set a schedule, so I don’t get why they haven’t made it so that you can tell it which rooms to clean which days. Then it would be a lot simpler to just have it clean one or two rooms and day and rotate. This would also extend the life of the vacuum, because it wouldn’t be cleaning as much every day. The map is kind of basic too…it does not show you where it has cleaned so far like some other vacuum apps do (e.g. EcoVacs). It is also not super accurate, so no-go zones can end up being pretty far off reality. Also, if you map with a door closed to a room, but then you have the door open, the vacuum will still go into that room, even though it’s not on the map (unlike EcoVacs where it says in the assigned room). It also constantly gets suck on the edge of the stairs saying it encountered a cliff, so I have to manually put a no go zone before the edge of the stairs. The vacuum itself helps keep the carpet clean but does not do a super thorough job for us with 4 dogs. We still have to vacuum with another vacuum every few weeks. It also struggles to pick up chuncks of stuff like tuffs of fur or bits of stuffing that came out of a dog toy. So, overall, it’s fine and I still depend on it to keep my house fairly clean, but I’m disappointed with the lack of capability.
nope –
3 stars is all I can do for this one
It cleans well. I like that it empties itself. It’s pretty quiet. That’s it for the good stuff. I’ve had to reinstall the app 3 times because it gets glitchy. It ignores no-go zones and goes where you don’t want it to. If you want to spot clean, you can’t change the size of the area. You can only schedule all rooms to be cleaned and not just main rooms every day, and other rooms on a different schedule. It wanders aimlessly on it’s way to wherever you’re sending it. Wanders all around the laundry room trying to dock itself. Honestly if I had known all of this, I would have stayed with the Roborock brand.

Will update in future. Item has problems with No-Go Zones.
We read the manual located only on the internet for this product before using and then gave it a 50% charge as directed and let it map the house. The next day after a full charge it started cleaning at the schedule we set. We also set-up the no go zones as described in the manual and app. The vac paid no attention to most of the zones and went in anyway. We have some rooms added before purchase of this house that have floors about an inch lower than the main floor and knew the vac would not be able to climb out of that room. Twice the vac entered the room after the zones were checked and redone to be sure they had been saved. Will update after more checking. Our cheaper vac never had problems with No-Go Zones.

Only good for bare floors
The media could not be loaded. It does nothing on rugs. It is advertised as good for houses with pets. As you can see on the video, it just passes over the hair without picking any of the hair up. I had bad experiences with Shark vacuums before. I do not know why I thought this would be any better. I unpacked everything so I cannot return it.

Exceeded Expectations – Fantastic Performance and Great Condition
I recently purchased a used Shark robot vacuum that was rated as being in “very good” condition, and I have to admit, I was initially hesitant about buying a used product. However, once it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained it was. Despite being a pre-owned item, it arrived looking almost new, with only minor scratches from previous use. The real highlight was how clean the filters, brushes, and bins were—everything was spotless and ready to go. It’s clear that the previous owner (or the seller) took good care of it, which made me feel even more confident in my purchase. Setting up the device was a breeze. The instructions were clear, and within no time, I had it charged and ready to map my home. Compared to older models, this one really impressed me with its near-perfect mapping accuracy. It was able to learn the layout of my house with minimal issues, and the smart navigation system has made a noticeable difference in its cleaning efficiency. It reaches all the nooks and crannies without getting stuck, and the mapping precision is definitely a major upgrade from older versions I’ve used. When it comes to performance, I couldn’t be happier. The vacuum does a fantastic job cleaning my floors, and I especially love how it leaves those perfect vacuum lines in the carpet. There’s something so satisfying about coming home to freshly cleaned floors with neat, even strips. It does a thorough job of picking up dirt, dust, and pet hair, leaving my home looking spotless without any extra effort on my part. The noise level is pretty reasonable as well. While it’s not whisper-quiet, it’s not overly disruptive either. That being said, I rarely run it while I’m home—I usually schedule it to clean while I’m at work. That way, I can come back to a clean house without having to hear it in action. The suction power is impressive, especially for a robot vacuum, and it handles both carpet and hard floors with ease. Another small but enjoyable detail is how sleek and modern it looks when it’s docked. It blends into the room nicely and doesn’t look out of place sitting on its charging station. It’s a great addition to the home, both in terms of function and design. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this purchase, and I would definitely recommend this model to anyone considering a robot vacuum. Despite being used, the condition was excellent, and the performance has far exceeded my expectations. If you’re on the fence about buying a used one, don’t hesitate—this product proves that you can get great value without sacrificing quality.

I think it’s great
I returned this as it came in too late to take to my sons for a gift. But I am sure they would have loved it as my daughter has one and loves it. Rest assured if I need one this will be what I buy.

So far, so good.
I doesn’t get all dirty or eat things with this roller bruh, like pet toys. Has a metal bar to protect things from getting fully stuck. Will update after I’ve had it longer.

AWFUL
This has been nothing but a piece of crap from day one. Spend all that money and I cannot tell you now awful this has been. Just grab your vacuum and do it the old fashion way. It is so sensitive to stuff and believe me we are a gay couple that has a very clean house. Today it stopped working AGAIN because something to do with the roller. We cleaned it out and still would not work. TRASH.

Painfully entangles long haired cat’s tails. No real obstacle avoidance.
I purchased this robot vacuum in Feb. 2023. After having it for one year, the suction is very weak and it misses picking up most of the debri on my luxury vinyl plank floors. Additionally, it is dangerous for long haired cats. The Shark robot vacuums have painfully entangled my long haired cats’ tails. The obstacle avoidance is not effective. Sometimes my cats are stubborn and won’t move out of the way. I’ve had three cats that have been harmed by this shark device. I much prefer the Roborock S7 that vacuums and mops at the same time. I bought this when I realized how dangerous this Shark robot is. The Roborock S7 is amazing. It’s obstacle avoidance, suction, cleaning patterns, and floor mapping are all far more superior. It truly goes way around my stubborn cats’ tails.

Amazing job, dust bin last
It feels like the product is misrepresenting itself when the dust bin is claimed to last 45 days, otherwise this would be 5 stars. I’m so glad I bought the largest bin size available, but even then it lasts 2-4 days before needing to be emptied (we have 3 short haired dogs). But the vacuum works great and easily navigates high thresholds (1”) and we’re thrilled with the cleaning job it does.

Great for Pet Hair
I have had this vacuum for about 3 months now and run it every day. I have an Australian Shepard who sheds pretty badly especially during the warmer months and since purchasing I hardly ever find hair around my house anymore. I do run it every day but can run it less if we are not home from the app on my phone. The app is almost idiot proof which is helpful since I am not the most tech savvy. If you are looking at this vacuum to pick up dog hair, I HIGHLY recommend it. (Another plus is that you do not need to purchase vacuum bags like on other models I looked at EX. irobot).

AI = Actual Idiot
This “AI” vacuum is super dumb. I set it in front of the dock, pressed the dock button, and it went straight for the corner 2 feet to the right and got stuck. To get unstuck, it simply needed to turn around 180 degrees and go back the way it came. Nope, it just kept spinning 90 degrees in either direction and finding more wall. My Roomba was great for spot cleaning – put it in the dirty spot, press spot clean. Done. The only way this idiot can spot clean is if I use the mobile app and have it navigate from the dock on its own. I tried the easy thing first – putt it in the middle of the dirt and press clean, but this idiot just left the vicinity. I guess it had more important things to clean. Realizing my error, I took out the mobile app to press “spot clean”, but that function is not available while doing a general clean. In fact, the vacuum intensity controls COVER IT, so I wasted 10 minutes looking everywhere in the app for the spot clean button I remembered seeing. What you actually have to do is end the cleaning run first to uncover the spot clean button. To do that, it has to go ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE DOCK. See above paragraph for how well that worked. It would have been so much easier to do the vacuuming myself, but instead I spent 20 minutes negotiating with this little fool. That was day 1. Day 2 I discovered the cliff sensors don’t work on carpeted stairs, it keeps going half off the edge and getting stuck. OK, so I babysat it and blocked it every time it tried to throw itself down the stairs, figuring eventually it would get to vacuuming the actual room. Nope, it would try for the stairs, do a loop around the perimeter, then right back for the stairs again, another perimeter loop, then stairs. This room has stairs on two walls, and eventually it got in a loop where all it wanted to do was go from one stair to another, back and forth, looking for some way to end our mutual suffering. Eventually I let it throw itself over the edge, but sadly it’s too durable, so here we are stuck with each other. I would have given 1 star, but the fact that it’s still functioning after that tumble is marginally impressive.

Great robot vacuum
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my new home. After getting the mapping done (be sure to charge it for the 6 hours. I couldn’t get it to connect to wifi until then), I was excited to schedule my cleans. When I tell you this think sucks, it SUCKS! I recently moved to a sandy area and I have 5 dogs that shed and bring in all the dirt. I use to swept daily and didn’t get it as clean as this vacuum. I run it Mondays and Tuesdays and Thursdays and Fridays. I rarely need to spot sweep at all. I do empty it weekly though because there’s a lot of foot traffic in and out. I can walk on my floors barefoot without sand and dog hair grossing me out. I have a 1700 sq foot home (tile throughout) and it will do several runs during the day but I come home to clean floors and I couldn’t be happier. Treat yourself and buy this thing. Mine’s name is Jeeves and I haven’t figured out its pattern but it’s a game changer in this household.

Freedom on the weekend!
I love it! I have it set up to vacuum a little more than 850 sq ft twice a week. When I come home from work I can see the beautifully vacuumed lines on all of the carpets. The site makes me very happy. 😁 It relieves me of about a ⅓ of my weekend chores and does it twice as often as I did.

Game changer!
We recently had to downsize to an apartment with a 50lb shedding machine. We’re still unpacking most of the house but I was able to set this up to run in my room for now. I am very impressed. It mapped the space and tackled the collection of her hair from under the bed. I LOVE that there are three suction settings and the option for the vacuum to return to base, to empty or charge, then continue it’s mission. Definitely an investment in my sanity!

Not good suction, dust bin gets jammed, eats Wi-Fi power
After using this vacuum for over a year, I find that I am constantly frustrated by it. I have several dogs and use a Dyson stick vacuum most days and use this only as a backup. I don’t like that it: 1. Flicks debris away most of the time rather than scoop up with the brushes (there are 2) 2. The self-cleaning dust bin gets stuff stuck it at all the time and won’t operate unless I dislodge 3. It’s stupid. I don’t know how many times I get itself stuck on a low piece of furniture and won’t get off, going round and round until I move the unit 4. It also sucks up a lot of WiFi juice and can’t be shut off, so it’s probably spying on my house too. I really only like that it doesn’t bang my furniture and that it’s self-emptying (when the vacuum bin doesn’t get stuff stuck).
