    Cheap Plastic and Broken

This was sort of expensive for what you get. The housing is plastic and all parts seem cheap. Mine didn’t work no matter how much I messed with the lighter plug and on/off switch. Dud of a product.

Does what it says it can do

My wife has wanted Christmas lights on her car and this year she had them because of this inverter. She also found other uses for it from charging her phone to plugging in a small electric cooler. Very durable and powerful item.

    As expected

Works well, is fairly quiet, and shuts off when not needed. Thanks for a nice charger in the car.

    Microwave oven would not run

I bought the Ampeak 2000w pure sine wave inverter based on good reviews and its compact size (compared to competitors), as I intended to install into a small popup travel trailer to power a microwave oven. Despite using 2/0 wire and a lithium battery with a 200 amp BMS, the inverter would fail upon oven startup with a “short circuit” error about 50% of the time. Ampeak support told me the problem was due to an instantaneous too-high current draw for devices like microwave and induction ovens, so I had no choice but to return the item. This inverter could run my 1,850 watt heat gun, so I am sure it wasn’t defective. Again, I bought it solely to run my built-in microwave oven. If you are in this situation, you might consider the BougeRV 2000w pure sine wave inverter (as I did), as it is only slightly longer than the Ampeak 2000w, and it has a built-in “soft start” feature that will start a microwave oven.

    Works really well

I like that it has three plugs. I do not like that it has very small grounding nut next to the terminals. I didn’t have a wrench or a socket that small and it was very hard to get the nut tight. My needle nose pliers kept slipping off and there wasn’t much room to get a good angle on it.

    Not used over 800 watts

Used once or twice a week on a Shop-Vac that was listed around 700 Watts for about 3 months. Then was using it for not more than 150 watts total during a hurricane for about 30 minutes and then started smoking with flames! (It happened just charging a laptop!) Had it right around a year. Found out, no such warranty for this product over 30 days?!? What the @&#? Don’t waste your money.

    So far working great!

MAKE SURE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND CHECK YOUR ACTUAL VOLTAGE BEFORE USING IT! I’m an Electrician. A typical household electric device, appliance or tool operates and and rated for 115-120 volts. 110 volts is Sub-standard for the U.S. market (may be different in other countries). An inadequate/substandard voltage will ultimately damage or shorten the life of your devices. READ THE SPEC LABELS ON THE APPLIANCES/DEVICES, YOU INTEND TO PLUG IN. YOUR ACTUAL INVERTER VOLTAGE SHOULD MATCH WHAT THE REQUIRED VOLTAGE IS FOR YOUR APPLIANCE/DEVICES! I first bought another competitors units for about $90. It advertised 120v on Amazon, but the literature in the box stated 110V +-. Out of the box, the competitors unit read less than 110 v with a voltmeter and dropped 98v over night with a 1 amp load and a battery reading 13v. NOT GOOD! The Ampeak unit “Advertises” 115v, and read 120v out of the box and maintained that voltage with a camper refrigerator plugged in, as a small load. So far so good! I would recommend this unit. Motto- You get what you pay for.

Less than a year. Customer service a joke.

Inverter stopped working in less than a year. I used it probably for less than 10 hours total. I used it to charge my drill batteries. That only drew around 80 watts total. Turned it on one day and it started beeping at me. Now it only shows the message “Overheat” and beeps immediately upon turning the unit on. This is with no load attached. Tried the customer service email and after two emails they tried to tell me the wires I was using were too small. I used the wires that came with the unit and I was always drawing less than a hundred watts. They obviously don’t even bother to read the emails. I A complete joke. Don’t waste your time with this brand. I found a dirty gas station 90w inverter in the bottom of a drawer that I bought 20 years ago that I’ll use instead. Waste of time and money.
