I finally decided to give up on trying to make the OEM radio in my ‘15 Silverado do the things I wanted it to and went aftermarket. I chose this model for two specific reasons: 1) CarPlay, 2) iDataLink. I paired this unit with a replacement fascia from Crutchfield, as well as a Maestro RR and a GM3 harness. After everything was said and done with, I had a clean looking stereo that sounded amazing, kept my steering wheel controls as well as all of the OEM integrated vehicle settings through the stereo display interface. I just love this thing!
Screen is nice but this unit is too glichy. It jumps from one screen to next all by its self . There is no software update either . I usually a pioneer guy but I think I try a kenwood excelon this time

fan is way too noizy and never stops
not sure if this is a design issue or a quality problem. the fan is very noisy and is always on even when nothing is running. Usually fan in electronics is either always on or starts when some sensor detects the temperature is too high. Well, this fan starts about half minute after boots and then never stops. The fan noise is definitely too much for an audio device.

This unit seems decent. However, the screen does occasionally shut off, taking several minutes to wait for a restart. It’s a little slow to load CarPlay. Sometimes the steering wheel controls freeze, and the only fix is to turn the car off and back on again (so, you’ll have to wait if you’re driving).

Do Not buy! Does not support Wireless Android Auto or CarPlay–USB connect no longer works
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS! The recent updates to battery optimization render it useless for Android Auto or CarPlay. It is not wireless android auto or carplay so you have to usb connect it to get that feature to work. The USB only supports 1.5 amp usb connection. The recent updates to smartphone battery optimization have upgraded the ability of most newer brands of android and apple phones to set battery optimized charging at a minimum rate that is higher than 1.5 amp. The result is the this stereo will give you an error message when you plug in USB that says usb has been disabled to protect the stereo. This is due to the phone attempting to draw more power than allowed. The result is that you cannot connect your phone, so android auto and carplay will not work at all! Also, this is one unit that Pioneer does not have ANY firmware updates for. Seems they produced it and abandoned it just as quick. Don’t make the mistake I did. Avoid this unit!
