My auxiliary hookup quit in my car so I bought this to keep in it to listen to my phone when I’m driving. The sound is pretty good and it hooks right up every time. I don’t leave it in the car when it’s too cold or too hot. Otherwise, it’s in there when I travel.

wonderful portability
Good sound in an easy portable size. I use it in bed at night and the flashing light on the speaker side is irritating. I put a small piece of duct tape over the light. Ugly, but it blocks most of the light.

The speaker has never held a full charge no matter how long you charge it. About 3 weeks in it developed a rattle no matter at what volume you play music at. It’s not loud in the slightest and it will turn off after about 2 minutes of play. I want a refund. Do not buy.

Great mini speaker. I loved it to go to the park and hikes and whatnot. I didn’t have it very long because of the very lackluster battery that’s supposed to last 5 hours but usually only lasted me 3.5-4 hours. But if battery doesn’t matter to you, definitely a good buy.

Kaput in less than a year
Purchased March 31, 2023, it isn’t even March 2024 yet and after charging it as usual, something weird happened where the red light that indicates it’s charging wouldn’t turn off despite no longer charging. Non-responsive. This is the last JBL product I will buy as they are not made to last. Minimal usage as I have other speakers. Had a JBL that didn’t last before replacing it with this lesser one that “will do.” This failure has solidified the reputation of JBL for me as unreliable. Had minimal expectations for a small speaker but using your phone speaker is the same.

Even at max volume its not very loud
Even at max volume its not very loud. Its fine for watching movies in a quiet house but not for listening to music while cleaning or walking from room to room – I live in a small, 500 sq ft apartment. This is my second JBL. The first one I bought 15-16 years ago and it was amazing. Seems maybe the company has changed ownership or mission? I will be trying a different brand next time.

Expected a lot more from JBL
Chose this speaker over other options because I have had good experiences with JBL products in the past, but there’s honestly nothing I actually like about this product other than, perhaps, the size. It charges via micro USB, which is a clear indicator that this is either old stock, or they haven’t realized it’s not 2014 anymore. Judging by the fact that it’s also BT 4.1, I think it’s the former. Mine also doesn’t show a blinking red light when it’s dying, but it will reach a point when it just shuts off, which is well before the supposed “5 hrs” they advertise. It will also randomly shut off when it IS charged *and playing* (it will auto shut off after a few minutes if not being used, which is normal), and I have no idea why. I might just have a defective unit. The charging cable they supply you with is also like 6in long so, unless you have held on to your old MUSB cables, you’re going to have to get a longer one if you want to use it when it’s charging. Now, to the most important issue: the sound quality/volume. The volume isn’t quite what I expected but still loud for the size. The problem is, at max volume the sound quality takes a nose dive. It’s not particularly good sound at any level, which is (somewhat) to be expected with its size, but at max volume it sounds super hollow and crackly. It’s honestly very disappointing.
