Was very easy to use for registration on my BMW 528i 2008 battery. I see that this item is highly retuned but my guess is because people use it to register their battery and then return it. I have had other code readers. One required a fee beyond the value I found from it. One was too technical to gain much benefit from. Another became complicated by a Bluetooth phone app requirement. This reader was a welcome find.

Where’s the customer support?
The scanner comes in very handy and has deemed very useful, but you will have to really take your time to figure out this unit on your own. The instructions that come with it are very basic and does not go into much detail into all of the features and functions. For example, it does not describe what the “expert mode” is or what it does when selecting that function to clear codes verses the normal code clearing function. If you try to contact customer support, you can only do so through email and their response time is about 48 hours. In my case, the customer support team was not helpful at all in answering my questions. They actually had told me that they can not recommend a product for my engine while having the exact product for my particular engine which made the customer support seem really uneducated on their own scanners. In summary, it is a great tool that has been very helpful, but you will need to spend time learning how to use all of the functions on your own.

I got this for my Mini just in case. Check engine light came on I was able to get codes easily. Turned out to be o2 sensors. Light came on the other day scanned it codes are for exhaust leak. Easy peasy. I also like that I can use this on my other cars. Which are not BMW or Mini

I have a 2022 X6 M50i. The check engine light kept coming on and going off. I took it to a dealership (not BMW), and they told me that I had 24 error codes. I needed a code reader for Mini’s and BMW and other European cars and my “Foxwell” reader didn’t have the ability. I found the Ancel BM500 and was pleasantly surprised at how intuitive the menu is. It read and pulled 3 codes quickly. It also has the ability to do the battery reset and tire reset. Don’t let the high return rate deter your purchase as I believe A LOT of people buy it just to do the battery reset, oil reset and/or tire sensor reset and then return it. I highly recommend it if you want a solid, budget friendly reader. I used this on a 2012 Mini Cooper S turbo.

Ancel BM500 worked! 2021 BMW X5 fixed!
For a couple of weeks my 2012 BMW X5 was getting odd error codes and the NAV system had a mind of its own. A constant error was a Passenger restraint system malfunction. I’ve seen this before with my wife’s 2022 BMW X5 and I knew that a new battery was needed. I had a mobile battery service come and replace the battery and the tech registered the battery with the car. However, the Passenger restraint system malfunction continued to be displayed. I bought the Ancel BM500 and cleared the code, problem fixed!
