All System OBD2 Diagnosis
Excellent
The ANCEL VD700 provides comprehensive OBD2 diagnostics, covering systems such as ABS, Transmission, SAS, SRS, ESP, and TPMS. This capability allows for a thorough checkup of most electronic systems within the vehicle, which is crucial for pinpointing issues without guesswork. The inclusion of this feature is what sets the ANCEL OBD2 scanner apart, as many competitors offer only engine diagnostics.
Special Functions for VAG Vehicles
Excellent
This ANCEL OBD2 scanner is tailored for Volkswagen Group vehicles, offering special functions like throttle position adaptation, brake pad reset, TPMS reset, and more. These targeted features are invaluable for VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat owners, providing capabilities often only found in professional-grade tools, thus offering excellent value and functionality specific to VAG vehicles.
Software Compatibility
Good
The ANCEL VD700’s software supports Windows 7/8/10 but does not support Mac, which may limit usability for some users. However, for Windows users, the ease of installation and the straightforward update process make it highly accessible and maintainable, ensuring the tool’s software is always up-to-date.
Battery Registration
Good

What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Diagnostic Tool?

This tool is a lifesaver for Audi and VW owners. Several customers praised the ANCEL VD700 for its ability to perform essential maintenance tasks, which saved them significant money. Seth Miller highlighted that within five minutes, he could clear the airbag light and “Service Due” message on his 2015 Audi Q5, stating it was exactly what he needed. Julian Acuna shared that the product saved him “several hundreds of dollars” by resetting an airbag light and priming his fuel filter, proving the tool’s value. The device is intuitive and easy to use. Many users found the ANCEL VD700 user-friendly and effective. Fly Navy mentioned that the Bluetooth connection to his iPhone was “immediate and intuitive,” and the tool’s menu layout was super easy to navigate. He emphasized that the tool allowed him to complete a brake job that would have cost significantly more at a dealership. Comprehensive diagnostics for a reasonable price. Users appreciated the ANCEL VD700 for offering a wide range of functions at a fraction of the cost of professional tools. Cathy Thompson mentioned that it was the first code reader that could read her Audi and reset warnings, including registering a new battery, which “saved a bundle” by doing it herself.
Not compatible with Mac OS for updates. One significant drawback highlighted by a user named jj is the lack of compatibility with Mac OS for updates. He expressed disappointment, stating, “Why buy this if it isn’t updatable?” This limits the usability for Mac users who cannot perform lifetime updates on their devices. Limited in-depth diagnostic capabilities. Some users noted that while the ANCEL VD700 is excellent for basic tasks, it falls short for more advanced diagnostics. A user named algava67 was disappointed that the VD700 couldn’t find or erase all faults on his Audi S4, leading him to consider going to a dealer. Similarly, Sanguine mentioned that it is not a substitute for more advanced tools like the Ross-Tech VCDS.

In summary, the ANCEL VD700 is a valuable tool for Audi and VW owners looking to perform basic maintenance and diagnostics themselves. It offers an intuitive user experience, comprehensive functions for a reasonable price, and significant savings on service costs. However, its lack of compatibility with Mac OS for updates and limited advanced diagnostic capabilities may be a downside for some users. Overall, it’s a solid choice for routine maintenance but may not suffice for more complex tasks.

The most helpful positive feedback Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2023 by WillF, and is titled “Works great on my 2014 Audi Q7.”
This tool has saved me tons of money so far! I absolutely HATE how Audi makes it difficult for anyone to work on their own vehicles. This little scanner solves many of those problems. So far I have diagnosed and fixed several issues, reset service reminders, and replaced the brakes on the Q7. Not one of those would have been possible without this tool. It has saved me THOUSANDS of dollars in just a few months!

People find the following negative one quite helpful. Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2024 by algava67, titled “Ok for basic stuff but not even close to vcds”
I purchased the VD700 a few months back to do the brakes on my 2018 S4 without any problems, I also have RT Vcd’s but find it a bit complicated to use last week I had a low coolant shut down the engine warning, on my 2018 S4, I refilled the coolant, but the code stayed. The VD700 couldn’t find any faults, the car has 80k miles, I almost gave up and went to the dealer. Vcd’s immediately detected the fault, deleted the code, no problems since. I thought the VD700 could detect and erase all faults “full systems diagnostics” but that is not the case, granted I am not very knowledgeable but pretty disappointed with it

    Helps reset Audi Q7 electronics

Simple to use. Audi Q7 has notoriously bad electronics according to mechanics. Fixes the Q7 errors that cause the car’s electronics not to be work. Allows you to reset these without taking it to Audi who then claim that there’s not a problem.. ie don’t want to fix the bad electronics and spend money on an expensive replacement.

I had an airbag sensor error, and I needed to do my brakes The dealership wanted $850 plus tax to do my brakes and another hundred dollars to clear the airbag code so we’re easily talking over $1000 All for the little price of this tool. And some work
