This wattage is generally above average compared to other car radios, which typically range from 200-250 watts, making it suitable for those who appreciate robust audio.
Bluetooth Hands-Free
Excellent
The Bluetooth feature enables wireless connectivity for hands-free calls and streaming music, enhancing safety and convenience while driving. This is a standard feature in modern car stereos, but its presence in a retro-styled 1.5 DIN radio makes it stand out.
RDS (Radio Data System)
Average
RDS allows the radio to display information such as station name, song title, and artist. This feature is useful for enhancing the radio listening experience. Its impact is moderate as it’s a common feature in modern radios, but not all vintage-style radios include it.

Authentic Customer Insights: The Highs and Lows of the 1.5 Din Radio Experience

Effortless Installation for Classic Cars – MesAm enthusiastically shared that although RetroSound’s list didn’t initially include his ’91 Cutlass Supreme, the “bottom mounting bracket from the original unit fits…and then goes in effortlessly”. This ensured a smooth installation, making it adaptable even for some cars not directly highlighted in compatibility lists, which speaks volumes about its versatile design.

Complicated Wiring Connections – Dave_VoiceSki pointed out a critical, albeit solvable challenge: the wiring. Users might face an “issue with default connection cable not being compatible”. This means you’ll have to get involved with splicing bare wire connectors to fit into your car’s harness – extra work if you lack experience in auto-electrics.

Difficulty in Hardware Organization – Another practical downside encountered by MesAm was the hardware packaging. The “four tiny bolts…are practically invisible” within the contents. This posed difficulties during initial assembly, especially for those eager to dive right into their 1.5 din radio setup without having to dig through ambiguous components.

By balancing these insights, prospective RetroSound New York buyers can have a comprehensive understanding of what to expect, and it clearly showcases that despite a few hiccups, the premium audio experience and heterogeneity make it a product worth considering for retro car enthusiasts.
The most helpful positive feedback Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2023 by MesAm, and is titled “Perfect in ‘91 Cutlass Supreme convertible”
Retro doesn’t include the Cutlass Supreme (mine is ‘91) in its compatibility list, but the bottom mounting bracket from the original unit fits on the bottom of this, needs to have couple of small protrusions cut/banged flat (3 minutes of bother), and then goes in effortlessly. Two small bolts, included, notch into the two square holes in the bottom of the faceplate. Only complaint: default connection cable is not compatible. Had to splice bare wire connectors (included) into the car’s harness before connecting to the final default connector. Also, four tiny bolts for mounting the faceplate to the motor are practically invisible in an almost opaque amber sachet inside another bag of random, mostly unnecessary, bits of hardware. They’re for the obligatory step one of assembly and should have prominently flagged, not buried among the just-in-case stuff. Now installed, great sound, great reception of distant stations the original had no hope of catching, and perfect classic match with the car. Kudos.
